Something's been bugging me

I always have music playing. I invested too much money last fall in an mp3 player that now contains all my music. But it has been well worth it. I now live with music in my ears, and it has helped me with stress and an evasive muse. At the moment there are three albums that I can't be creative without (unless the creativity actually involves making music):

Lamb - Between Darkness And Wonder
Poe - Haunted
Lemon Jelly - Lost Horizons

It changes from month to month, but those are my current drug.

Poe - Haunted
You won't see the irony in this, but someONE will. :D

I always listen to music when I'm at the computer, which is the only way for me to write. My playlist has some 30+GB of mp3 files. I don't even want to try to figure out how many that makes...

I once came up with a story just because I was inspired by Alice Cooper's "Poison", and I'm currently creating the 3rd, 4th, and 5th part, all at once.

Huh.

Well, speaking of Poe (and quite off-topic), my favourite CD is not one with music, but a double disc set called Closed On Account Of Rabies where an odd collection of people reads some of the original Poe, Edgar Allans' poems and texts. Gavin Friday reads a haunting For Annie, Christopher Walken quothes The Raven, Marianne Faithfull takes on Anabell Lee, and Iggy Pop of all people deliveres a superb Tell-Tale Heart. If you have the chance, check it out.

Back on topic: when I'm doing boring at-work chores, I can not listen to music, or my mind will stray to writing stuff, and I won't get anything done...

Thanks for the tip. I will certainly look for it :)

I love listening to music as I write it inspires me especially with a love scene or a meeting between a couple. I can't live without the music!

I once wrote a long story about my ballet teacher and listened to Tchaikovksy's opera of Evgeny Onegin the full two months+ it took to finish it. (I do still love the music.)

I can do with or without music usually; but I will use operas cos they're long. Beethoven would be too distracting.

Silence. Absolute silence. Which, given I share a flat with five other students, and the various others who wander through, can be rather difficult. Its amazing how many pleasant people have knocked on my door and been greeted by:

"fuck OFF! I'm writing porn!"

So, no, I don't write to music either.

Me too. If there's music on I start listening to it, and listening takes up a lot of brain.

The older I get, the more I appreciate silence.

I must have music going at all times or I become restless and edgy. It is a definite must have for all things in my life, except sleep. That, I prefer to do to the sound of rain.

I wanna walk to the beat of my own drum
I wanna live to the beat of my own drum
I wanna take to the beat of my own drum
I wanna hang ten, high, say pleased to meet you

Give to the beat of my own drum
I wanna sing to the beat of my own drum

I wanna
fly, cry,
win, lose,
live, die,
take five

Pleased to meet you

Poe is wonderful. And...I'm not a virgin anymore!;)

~lucky (who can barely function without music)

- speaking of mp3 players...my birthday gift to myself will be one of these nifty little devices. any suggestions/recommendations?
