It felt so good she wished she could stay there forever, but her stomach told her otherwise. Rinsing one last time she stepped out of the waterfall, grabbed her undies and swam towards where she had left her elf trousers and shirt. In no time she had the cloths on (without the wet undies, those needed to be dried), and headed back to camp.

Everyone seemed to be finished their meal, glancing at the sleeping Borscht, Vala asked,

"Is there any food left for me? I am just starving!"

Inwe nodded her head, indicating there was some left in the pot. She got up with her empty bowl and went to rinse it out before putting it away in her backpack. Straightening up she announced,

"OK everyone, let's get a good night's sleep....we have a full day ahead of us tomorrow."

Nodding to both Ello and Htaed she went over to her sleeping area, slipped into her bedroll turned her back to the dying fire and was soon asleep.

As Inwe got ready for bed, Vala ate straight out of the warm pot, there was no use to be delicate about it, she was hungry and there really wasn't a lot in there. Scraping the last bits out, she sat back and sighed. She could have had a few more bites, but this would do...she then eyed Ello making ready to go to bed. She narrowed her eyes speculating on her chances of being with him, getting up she wiped her mouth on her sleeve and headed over to him.

She tapped him on the shoulder waiting for him to look up at her. Putting on her most seductive smile she whispered,

"It's going to be a chilly night...do you mind if I joined my bedroll with yours?"

As soon as Ello stood up and faced Vala, she knew it was not going to go her way, she stuck a smile on her face as he told her how lovely and attractive she was ...then went on to talk about the quest...blah blah blah. Inwardly she sighed, she was not one to give up plus she still had that small vial of love potion. She kept nodding her head while Ello went on talking, (He is really a nice guy, but I want him, and will have him whatever it takes I will have him.) Once Ello was done, Vala smiled sweetly before replying;

"Oh Ello I understand completely, and never for a moment did I suggest anything more then just two bodies keeping the chill of the night away. I will go near the dying fire and try to keep warm as best I can...sleep well Ello."

Vala smiled again before turning towards the dying fire, picking up a few twigs as she went. Putting them on the fire, she watched as the fire flared briefly and died down again. Sighing, she dropped her bedroll on the ground unrolled it before shaking it out. Looking over at Ello once more she decided to collect a bit more wood for the fire before turning in. Her loins ached but there really was no real opportunity to get it scratched, not with Inwe so near.

She sighed again as she gathered as much dry wood as she could find within the campsite, grumbling to herself, (Quest smest...what do I care about their stupid quest...all I want is the attention I deserve...is that so much to ask? I risk my life and do everything they ask of me and what do I get in return? Not even some comforting warmth for the night.)

With an armload of sticks she walked over to the fire and dumped it, looked around sighing heavily again, throwing some of the sticks onto the fire. She finally got under the covers and settled in for the night. Aside from her disgruntled mood, Vala was soon fast asleep.

Meanwhile Htaed had been watching Vala's every move through hooded eyes, his manhood reacting to her every move. He wanted very badly to go to her, but something told him to be cautious for now. Ello and the rest of the company awoke at first light in the morning. The air was cool. They were still only in the foothill of the Shadow Mountains. But each day they would climb higher and higher so the air would get cooler and cooler. If it had not been for the threat they all faced Ello would have enjoyed spending a few days at this camp site.

But they did not have that kind of time. The threat was coming. They needed to complete this quest. He had only briefing seen the map, the king, Inwe father, had given Inwe. But it would be at least two more days to reach the secret cave, where the talisman sword was located. The “Sword of the ancient Garu Masters.”

He wondered what special powers the sword had … and how they would all get past the spell of forgetfulness cast on the secret chamber.

The red gem Inwe carried was the key. She could hold the stone and at the same time touch the sword to break the spell. But did that mean she needed to go into the cave alone. What if they were other dangers in the cave?

King Ceralon had said the final battle would take place at Inwe home village. Ello had to agree. He had the same feeling. Suddenly he felt a warm arm wrap around his waist, it was Inwe. “Hey … what are you thinking about?” She asked.

“Everything …“ He said smiling “It is beautiful here … don’t you think?” He asked her.

Inwe smiled at Ello's question,

"Yes, I wish I could just stay here for a few days and drink in all this tranquility and beauty....but that will have to be another time. But now tell me what else were you so seriously thinking, I have been watching you for the last 20 minutes."

Once he told her his thoughts on how long it would take to get to the secret cave, she fished out the map carefully tucking the gem in a side pocket and spread the map on the ground in front of them.

"Yes, this is a good time to check our bearings, ..it looks like your close, we seem to be, I would say about two and a half days from our present location. They both looked up from across the map at the same time, eyes locking onto each other. Suddenly Inwe broke eye contact first, clearing her throat,

"Well, I better get some breakfast , we have a long day ahead of us."

She picked up the map folded it up, first placing the precious gem inside, then back into the inner pocket of her vest it went. She smiled one more time at Ello and moved towards the cook fire to see if there was any warm porridge left. Looking into the pot, Inwe was glad to see that, it would seem Borscht was not a fan of the breakfast staple. Taking her wooden bowl and spoon she helped herself to a portion, poured some tea in her cup and found a log to sit on while she ate her breakfast. Most of the others were doing the same, while the ones that had finished their breakfast were packing up.

Borscht lumbered over to Inwe and asked,

" Ahh...is there anything else to eat? I can't stomach that gruel you elves always eat."

Inwe shook her head swallowing before answering,

"Sorry Borscht, we will have to do some hunting later on once we start moving. For now, I have some dried elf waybread , which should keep you going until we get some meat for you and the rest of us."

Borscht shook his head sadly,

"No ...I will just find some roots and such...maybe do a little hunting as we march along."

He walked away mumbling to himself about ( If I don't get some good grub soon, I will waste away to nothing!)

Ello looked over to Inwe after the troll spoke… “Did I hear him correctly … he can't stomach porridge … a troll, who eats tree branches can’t eat warm porridge!!”

Inwe laughed and so did Ello. They packed up and started to move again. The early morning climb was pretty gentle … but the afternoon hike was steeper and the group did not make as much progress.

Ello and Inwe helped others that were having trouble as both of them were very fit. Vala was one of the members that were having some trouble so Ello went over to her.

“Vala … here let me carry your pack.” Ello offered.

“But you will be carrying two packs then!” She said breathing hard.

“It is not a problem … the trail will flatten out at the top of this ridge we are climbing” Ello said. Vala gave up her pack and Ello talked to her on the climb up the ridge. Vala ask Elllo about his village and Ello himself. He explained about his name Elrohir Séregon (Ello for short) He told her about his Triginta (or 30 year rite) and how he was going to take his place at the head of the Sereneti tribe upon his completion of this rite.

Vala listen and was pleasant to talk to. Ello asked about her background and other things. The time flew by and soon they had reached the top of the ridge. He handed her pack back to her.

“Thanks Ello … for … talking to me … and not just treating me like a sex object” She said. Ello smiled and said “you’re welcome”

At the top of the ridge another interesting thing happened. Borscht wandered off looking for more food. That in itself was not interesting at all as he was ALWAYS hungry. "Don't wander off too far, just keep ahead of us, we will be catching up with you soon enough."

As she finished the last of her porridge, Htaed came over to get a head's up on the day's march. Inwe mentioned,

"Yes well, I just looked the map over with Ello and figure we are about two and half days travel from the secret cave. That is if we don't have any interruptions, .....you know I never did thank you for saving us from those trolls. I don't like to think what would have happened , the quest would have ended before it really got started."

Htaed smiled as Inwe thanked him responding,

"I was just glad it worked out, and we didn't lose anyone. Well it looks like we are about ready to go, I'll leave you to finish up."

He nodded his head as he walked away towards where Vala was packing up her things. She looked up as he approached her, putting on her most charming smile she said in a sexy voice,

The voices got louder as they got nearer, it sounded like some kind of argument going on. All three of them got the surprise of their lives, when they peaked through the foliage. There was Borscht with what looked like a female troll, she seemed to be flirting with him as she said,
