Sony cam as webcam

Hey - just wondering if anyone has done this....... I've heard it's possible to use a regular digital video camera as a webcam. Is this possible? On a scale of one to ten, how tough is it?

It would depend on the model of the camera, but it can be done. My Sony cam has a firewire connection (so all I need is a firewire card for my notebook).

With the right software any digital camera that can provide alive feed to your computer can be used as web-cam. The problem is finding the right software for a digital video camera that didn't include a web-cam driver in it's software installation.

If you're looking for a dual purpose camera/web-cam, the $20 Vivitar cameras I bought my granddaughters have a web-cam function that works better than many dedicated web-cams.
