I see people inserting quotes into their replies so they can reply to specific parts of a message. How is this done? I tried highlighting and doing the usual copy/paste function but it doesn't appear the same way as the light blue "Quote" box does.

If you know and are willing to share I'd appreciate it. Better yet, are the answers to these types of questions already available in a FAQ? Is there a downloadable user manual available, like a PDF? Or by design are we supposed to sink to our knees and beg for these nuggets of information? (kidding)

Thanks in advance for your repliy(ies)

Click the "quote" button in the lower-right corner of the post you're responding to.

Under the post you want to quote should be a button "reply" - this will actually bring up that post in your reply box. You can copy and paste the section you want to quote, but you have to put the quote brackets at the beginning and the end. It would be like this except there would be no spaces between the []'s:

[ QUOTE = AsylumSeeker]I see people inserting quotes into their replies [/ QUOTE ]

nothing could be simpler!

here's how i do it.

1. highlight the text you wish to quote.
2. copy & paste it.
3. at the beginning, add the
and [/quote [ (lose the extra spaces!) around it.
4. extra credit: what i usually do when i quote someone and i don't want to use that person's handle, i use the following format. i'm embedding extra spaces so you can see the [] commands, also known as tags.
[name] [verb]
[text]
