Consider this, though: if the original slave - the one that popped the girl's cherry - fell in love with her before she was cast out, wouldn't he do everything he could to protect her from the women doing something like that? It might be in his best interests to keep her alive and somewhat well. Is a rural area considered a den of thieves? (Very rural - we had 13 people in my senior class in high school. It was a big class.) i grew up in an area where either you were somebody or you weren't worth passing on the road. i was one of the second category. If we didn't stick together in some way we quite literally would not have survived. If that's something like what You're talking about, then yes, i've been there and understand.

This is something more along the lines of what i was thinking, or what i would like to see happen. It would keep the story going and open up a whole new line of possibilities. It could go from the original rape to the more loving relationship to sharing with the other slave men to sharing with both the slave men and women to possibly an uprising leading to some sort of incestual situation to who knows what else. Or, if she were considered a slave, it could go from the rape to the more loving relationship to being shared to being sold down the river, and who knows where that might lead.

Not to spoil the wonderful debate going on, but to get back to the original topic, here is a related idea:

Plantation owner's pretty, tomboyish daughter has grown up with a young slave who has been assigned the task of being her companion. She does not fit the sterotypical "southern belle" image in her behavior (preferring to ride horses and wear plainer working clothes). She has always regarded her companion as a good friend rather than a servant, but now that she has come of age, she realizes the social barriers placed between them. The young slave, naturally, is resentful of his status; however, he bears no grudge toward the girl, to whom he is devoted (as she is to him). Both of them inwardly deny the growing sexual attraction between themselves, but a tension develops even as they try to secretly maintain their friendship. The difference in their social status is accentuated by her father's declaration that the young man be relegated to field work, despite the protests of the daughter.
When she attempts to talk to her friend, he angrily rebuffs her as naive and uncaring about the plight of his people.
Hurt and embarrassed, the girl tearfully rides away, heading for an abandoned shack near the edge of the plantation. This is the
special place where the two had spent many hours as children
playing, talking, and bonding. She doesn't see the depraved white trash who lives on a plot of land adjoining the plantation, but he lasciviously follows her to the cabin. The filthy white man attempts to become friendly with the girl before revealing his true intentions...rape! Though she fights hard, the evil man overpowers her, stripping open her shirt and pulling down her riding breeches. She cannot prevent him from painfully taking her virginity.
At this point, the young slave, who has decided to follow his companion, arrives to discover the assault taking place. He pulls the rapist off his young white girl friend, and a fight ensues, during which the enraged black man strikes the slovenly white man. killing him with a blow of his fist. He then goes to comfort his sobbing friend. As she lies against his chest and cries on his shoulder, the two finally acknowledge their mutual attraction.
The girl begs her friend to make love to her in order to erase the terrible event that has just taken place. After hesitating, the handsome slave removes his clothing and fucks her on the cabin floor near the body of the deceased. In their ecstasy together they forget to take precautions and he comes inside her. They agree to run away together to a place where he (and now, she and their future children) will be treated more equally.

'Additional idea (stolen from an old historical novel; thought the idea was really hot):

Poor white trash farmer can't afford a slave to help work the farm (and he can't procreate himself). He takes his shy, abused wife to a deplorable couple who hire out one of their slaves for "breeding purposes". By forcing his wife to become impregnated by the slave, the poor famer can cheaply obtain labor for his farm. She eventually helped the slave escape and ran away with him to freedom} In this version, the humane slave, although angry at all whites, shows compassion for the terrified young woman. Did I mention that she was used by her white trash father and brothers before they sold her to her husband?) and she experiences vaginal, oral, and anal sex ogasms (his and hers) for the first time, willingly serving the virile slave who has been the only human to ever show her kindness. The couple would probably plan and make their escape before she got too far along in the pregnancy. Otherwise, the wife would have to bear the child alone (uncaring husband too stingy to pay for a midwife, even to protect his "investment").
