The fall colors of the trees shown in their brilliant hues, reds, orange, and golds. The forest knew of the impending weather change and began to shed its summer skins. the animals scrambled to bury food hordes for the impending colder weather. Deer fed along the stream knowing the coming weeks would freeze their water supply. A small figure ventured into the clearing, her small form strange amongst nature but not unwelcome.

Her long black hair hung below her shoulders, her dual colored eyes watching all around her. The cape she wore over her simple gown hid her lithe,5 foot 2 lush body from others eyes. She moved slowly along the foot worn trail until the the small village appeared. She stopped dreading her monthly visit to the town. A few townsfolk knew her, others shunned her calling her an abomination because of her eyes. None knew the second personality that lie deep inside her only that she was different by looks.

She pulled the hood up and over her head concealing her all but from anyones view. She needed supplies and began to move forward. The town was unusually busy for this time of year and then she saw the caravan of wagons in the square. She watched as men and women from the caravan loaded supplies and what not onto their wagons. She didnt linger, moving quickly by and into the general store. She moved to the counter and without a word handed the list to the owner. He took and looked up at her. He simply nodded and turned away calling for his helper.

The man he called for had always loaded her supplies and then brought them to the clearing, tying the pack mule and leaving. She would then bring her own hand pushed wagon unloading them. The helper always returned to take the mule back to town. Her list was always the same and this time was no exception. She always got the basics. She could survive off the land but some things she needed to buy. She noticed the taller man at a nearby table talking to the wife of the owner. She had never seen a man so tall, rugged looking. He looked her way and she quickly turned away.

Paying the owner she turned to leave, she did not realise how close the man had gotten to her and she bumped into him. Her hood slid free, her eyes met his quickly before she pulled the hood once more back to cover her features. She hurried from the store and out into the mass of people. She didnt waste no time and proceeded back towards the comfort of her woods. She had been out there alone since she had known what she was. Most people just call her a recluse, strange but harmless. If they only knew.

She moved out of town and stopped to calm her ragged nerves from her trip. She always felt on edge when she had traveled into town and this time it was worse. The mans face still echoed in her head. There was something about him, something fierce and dangerous. Shaking it all off she began to slowly walk back to her cabin, her sanctuary. Her skin itched to change but this was not the time or place. She would wait until the town lost its bustle and the curious newcomers. She couldnt risk anyone finding her out. She knew her kind were hunted, killed or worse imprisoned.

Her name was Bryna, her family all but gone. Killed or died a long natural death. She had tried to survive in the village but she couldnt. Many had tormented her about her looks, some had even assaulted her thinking she was an easy target. They found out she was no fragile female. Finally she had given up and went deep into the woods. The animals accepted her for who and what she was. They never seemed scared of her, some nights the wolves that lived in the woods would answer her night calls, but none had filled the feeling of something missing in her soul. Her father was a proud man, strong and very family oriented. Her mother was a gypsy that had given up the wanderers life to settle down with him. She gave him 7 strong sons before Bryna came along. Her father doted on her,whe he was killed her world collapsed. Her brothers split up as her father had wished to keep the family name going and safe. Now all she knew was only 4 were still alive. Her mother died at a very old age, never having stopped loving her father. She told Bryna when she met her soulmate she would know it and embrace it.She shook her head at her mothers words. "Never...I will never give my heart or my soul to any man."She said as tears filled her eyes as the older woman took her final breathes of life.

Now she had been alone out here for 10 years marking her 28th birthday alone. She didnt care. She stopped before the small cabin she called home. She smiled at the sight of it. She had built it with the help of her oldest brother Kaleb before he left. He was the last one to leave, making sure she would be fine. The over protective big brother he had always been. She pulled her cape off as she entered the 2 room cabin. The other room being her bedroom. The fireplace sizzled and the wrmth engulfed her, walking over to it she stoked it back to life. She sat back on her heels staring into the flames watching them dance. Images flowed through them, her mother had always said the images she could see were predictions. She only saw flashes of faces, her mothers gift of foresight stopped before she thought. Her hand reached up and wrapped around the pendant her father gave her at a very young age,the image of a wolf head imbedded in a circle of gold. He told her it was her birthright to follow the wolf,to let her heart lead her to where she must go. SO far it has led her to these woods and never let her go...
