And so cute when you do that too!!! :D

My 15 year daughter confessed to me tonight that she's not a virgin. That didn't bother me so much as the fact that she said her first time was two years ago ... w/ an 18 year old.

Before I could get into the "lecture," she spewed her regret and confessed her stupidity quite readily. That relieved me some. Then she told me about her ongoing relationship w/ her boyfriend. That I could better understand, even sympathize with 'cause they truly are "in love," as much as people that young can be in love. In all honesty, he really is a good kid and she probably couldn't have done better.

Needless to say, the little thing pretty much rocked my world tonight (not in the good sense) and I'm still trying to wrap my mind around it. The one thing out of all this I'm really grateful for is that she told me this. She also told her mother. While she told both of us in the strictest confidence, we (of course) compared notes. It seems she told each of us the exact same thing, so we're pretty sure of the veracity of her stories. THAT I'm really grateful for 'cause I know the day she stops communicating is the day we've lost her. Nonetheless, I'm not really sure how to respond beyond contemplating putting her on birth control and offering my advice (not my commands). Any thoughts?

Any insight from the ladies in this group would be most appreciated...IF they don't mind being a "traitor" to their sex...in the interest of effective parenthood, of course.

The joys of an amicable divorce/separation.... Her son is out of town on business.....

She is getting the care she needs....I am just unwinding.....

The bells are really something, but I prefer her "real" ones. ;) :p

Lunar's IRL pic is "better" than that pic.

MG ~ I am so glad your daughter talked to you and her mom. I am not a mother. I never wanted any children. Just selfish I guess.

I do know both of my parents discussed sex with me. I remember how difficult it was for my father. This was over 35 years ago. I am 48....

I became sexually active in late high school, just a bit, but I did get myself on the pill. I always and even to this day, believe reponsibility comes with the privilege, and if you are going to engage in activity the may produce a child you better be willing to take care of it, or prevent the conception....

Now I was raised Catholic, looking for the bolt....

I can't give you any advice but what I did.... I don't know if that helps at all......

Good luck!!! :) :rose:

I really appreciate the reply 'cause I believe the old adage that there's wisdom in a multitude of counselors. The more input I can get, the better. It just gives me that many more perspectives to "see" from. So thanks for the help!!

Have a good nite's sleep....and sweet dreams.

More to the point: have you packed the keys too?

No need for anyone to bring the cuff keys. I always have one readily available... you just have to beg me to use it. ~grins~

No, I didn't hear their broadcast, but I'd bet money both stations are owned by the same company. The local station here is new and it's obvious they have an established branding and marketing strategy, so I figured they're simply importing it from a previously successful marketplace.

MG

It's possible about the same company, but I doubt it. A parent company for radio stations wants each one to be as individual as possible. Just out of curiosity, what's the dial setting. I can get south east VA stations here easily. I'd like to compare the two.

Took the "Friends" quiz you suggested and I was "Joey." Har, har. I've got more than 10 years of higher ed under my belt, so I'm not really buying the "not the brightest crayon" bit. Of course, considering the characters in the show, there wasn't much choice.

MG

w0w. With all that higher education, you should know about the "common sense : common knowledge" ratio.

Take my Aunt for example. One of the brightest people I know. She worked for the Fed Govt. as secretary to the US Ambassador in whichever country she was assigned to. She has a wealth of world-wide cultural knowledge that is probably close to being unequaled (except by others that were in her field or similar) from the many countries she has worked in. But, the poor woman hasn't the slighest bit of common sense.

106.1 FM -- Their marketing strategy is to play a WIDE variety of popular music: anything from rock to hip-hop to oldies, etc. It's nothing to hear Van Halen, then Beyonce, then Credence Clearwater. Get the picture? I rather like it 'cause I hear songs I haven't heard in ten years or more on the radio...right next to songs my daughter listens to now.

You gotta point, but I've watched "Friends" enough to know I'm not "Joey." LOL

Now that kinda "male bonding" is a tad bit on the skeery side.

Speaking of male bonding, how's that smoking cessation program coming along? You're just about at the 3-4 week mark, right? I'm told that's the "moment of truth" for most people.

Hope it's going good. If not, however, don't beat yourself up. Just try, try again.

Remember: Mark Twain said "Quitting smoking is easy. I've done it hundreds of times."

;)

Stick w/ it bud. I'm rooting for ya!
