Darwin Awards a.k.a. extinction of the lesser of the species is an old-ish popular website where stories of people offing themselves in odd ways and there's a vote for particularly foolish ways for someone to have died.

Last I remember was a guy who went "off trail" at a volcanic hot springs to soak or whatever nonsense he had heard rumor about.

He was essentially insta-boiled to death, his sister ran for help but they could only recover a single flip flop of the pair he was wearing when it was all said and done.
I have heard the term Darwin Awards a number of times. It does strike me that no matter how careful people are, accidents and disasters can happen quickly within a short moment of inattention.

With regard to 26thNC and the comments in LW, I just noticed this following combination of two comments on my "A Gathering of Trolls" spoof (which I had advertised here in the Author's Hangout):

How disappointing. Here I thought this was going to be a story about the Authors Hangout.

A zinger from an erudite anonymous.

Am I correct that these two comments suggest that 26thNC MIGHT be another author or lurker here in AH?
Interesting conspiracy theory. An author? Unlikely but not impossible. A lurker? Possibly.

Other authors here have admitted to having secondary accounts on LitE. So, I don't see where the "unlikely" comes from.

ANYTHING is possible.

I said "unlikely" in the sense that I have no idea of what others are doing. I guess I wouldn't do it, so I assumed no on else would. Of course, that's not a good way to assess other people's behavior.

I feel you but these tend towards the somewhat considered yet not considered enough.

I am thinking particularly of a teenager who was troubled so greatly by a street lamp, he opened the service panel and tried to cut live wires to "turn it off."

Sadly, only turned himself off, permanently.

I guess I wouldn't shoot someone. But I would be easily wrong to assume no one else would do so.

But it is VERY likely someone would do it.

Like watching the “dumb ways to die” reels on Instagram with my kids, both cringe worthy and sometimes examples of Darwin awards.

I once had an staff member of mine comment, “I’m not saying we should kill all the idiots, just take the warning labels off and let nature sort itself out.”

So does this qualify? After all, they were supposed to be professionals - the ship builders too. Something not mentioned here is, of course, that there was only room for 1,200 people in the lifeboats, but 2,200 on the ship. Even there, only about 705 got in the boats, partially because the passengers initially didn't want to get in, but also because the crew had confusion about loading them. Then there is the unanswered question of why the Californian, which was only about ten miles away, didn't respond to the distress rockets fired by the other ship.

The guy with the street light killed himself. Here, about 1,500 died.

There was a “26thNC Cuck” tear-assing around the Loving Wives category and posting comments on the stories there for a while. I’m not sure where that “Cuck” went, but I miss them…

I like that sort of thing. It creates a bit of humor. It’s, at least, something different. Just being endlessly blasted with the comments of the trolls, without some sort of humor or comedy relief, is just so droll and so bloody monotonous. Even the troll’s attempts to be funny or complex are just so mundane and standard.

It’s become so routine now: a fresh wave of new cuckolding/hot-wife/sharing stories arrive each day in Loving Wives. The ass-hats post their nasty comments, and then the next wave of cuckolding/hot-wife/sharing stories arrive the next day after that, and again attract the trolls attack, and so on, and so on, and so on…

This 26thNC person is just a part of this crowd, who posts the same ole sort of shit, over and over, day after day, like some sort of fucking photocopier pouring out the same ole pointless shit over and over and over again.

Everyone has their part to play I suppose. The trolls award low scores and make nasty remarks on cuckolding/hot-wife/sharing stories each day. Those comments have no lasting effect. A fresh blast of cuckolding/hot-wife/sharing stories arrives and the trolls go to work again and objectively have no influence – rinse and repeat. Ho hum - how fucking boring…

One thing I believe: people tend to spend a lot of time on a website, just sort of hanging around, if they invest a lot of time and even emotion in doing what they do there. Doing that thing religiously implies an emotional attachment or an emotional investment. People tend to think on it a lot. It tends to occupy their mind. They tend to go to the website often, etc.

What a sad situation: to endlessly post the same ole shit, like a fucking photocopier, pumping out some mundane thing which will be yawned at and thrown in the bin. And, in the end, what you post has no objective effect on what happens here at Literotica. It makes no difference at all on the avalanche of new cuckolding/hot-wife/sharing stories which arrive each day. It doesn’t stop or slow down those types of stories at all. How fucking pointless and pathetic.

I can understand authors showing up here on a regular basis to chat and swap notes. We’re actually making an effort to produce something, to create something. But these trolls, who spend years here, don’t write any stories and post their shit – they’re just useless, they’re nothing, they’re just a complete waste of space.

Many writers on this platform pretend to be innocent sheep while they are the real predators. They deliberately stir up their readers' emotions. Whether consciously or not, they enjoy playing with their readers, eliciting a variety of reactions, not all of which are positive. Some may try to cover up this deliberate abuse with a satisfying and liberating HEA, but among themselves, they will chuckle at the Via Dolorosa they put the reader through.

Many of those who complain about LW's audience write content that I personally find repulsive, including degrading, humiliating, violent, and racist material that can be almost dehumanizing. Yet they have the audacity to roll their eyes and whine when some readers express their displeasure.

While we are free to express anything within the site's rules, it's important not to delude ourselves about one fact of life: mature individuals are not victims for long unless they choose to be.
I admit that I've only read a tiny percentage of the stories on Lit. If I'm not writing for here, I'm usually reading somewhere else.

But from what I've read in Story Ideas, even if most of those don't get into actual works, there are some very dark thoughts within the members of this site. There are many proposals for humiliation and even violence. But if there is an erotic site like this with categories for Incest/Taboo and BDSM, the line gets pretty fuzzy. It's pretty hard to write about some of these things and still remain "nice" or even just reasonable. In a some cases I can't tell if they are being honest or merely indulging their worst fantasies. The site's owners seem to be rather erratic at enforcing whatever rules they have.

Mainstream publishing allows much darker material than it once did. After five years here, I've realized that an erotic site is invariably going to have some material that seems reprehensible to some people and just entertaining to others. If some writers are stirring up emotions but that's it, then I'd say just don't read them. If they or someone else commits certain acts in real life, that is a matter for the criminal justice system.

That's the main ideological thrust of the Darwin Awards concept; the common sense stifled taking themselves out of the gene pool.

I know what it means; the idea has been around for a long time. I probably overstated the Titanic analogy for the effect it was going to have. It still reminds me of those polls that show the majority of people believe that they are better than average drivers. It's always the other guy who lacks common sense, not us.

By the way, if Captain Smith was truly racing the Olympic against that warship, that was rather foolish for someone like him with years of experience who should have known better.

I don't exclude the possibility that 26thNC is an author. He would probably write Burn The Bitch stories. However; he might even be so schizophrenic that he writes erotic cuckold stories. However; I think not.

What really "worries" me is the probability that 26thNC actually masterbates while writing his nasty comments.

I thought making the reader feel things, not always pleasant, was the point of good writing.

I overheard this said by a stranger talking on his mobile phone just today whilst I was at the shops:

"Opinions are like arsehole... everyone has one and what comes out often stinks and is best ignored by others"

Sums things up nicely in its own unique way, lol

He has changed his user name slightly; he is now 26thNCuck. Is the legendary LW commentator being tongue-in-cheek, or is he revealing something about himself?

In his prime, he - shown here in gray uniform - would bravely lead his troops against the LW writers/invaders.

That's a separate one that exists to troll 26thNC.

That makes sense, since both profiles are there. The original one joined in 2017 and has 188 followers, while the second one joined in 2020 and has 21 followers. Their biographies are identical except that the original has one extra sentence in it. Another part of the Lit Fun House Hall of Mirrors.

I've always wanted emotional responses from my readers. Whether it is hate or love, it doesn't matter, just so it is a very strong response. What's wrong with my attitude? Isn't reading about the emotions you can experience? Romance writers want to pull on your heartstrings. Horror authors want to scare the shit out of you. That is what we do!

Why would either have followers? Neither has written any stories.

People are odd.

Neither of them has any published stories. But that doesn't mean they never had published stories.

I don't know either of them from the past, except for the comments they've left on my stories. But they may have published some stories here long ago to gather followers, then became disillusioned with the site enough to delete their stories.
