Star Wars: Lost Soul

It’s beautiful... Will you help me put it on?”

Vince smiled softly, moving behind Taryn he lifted her hair gently with his still bandaged and bound hand, and fumbled for a minute before getting the snap and catch of the chain attached. Without thinking Vince leaned forward and kissed the back of her neck before letting her hair fall away, a sudden red flush tinged his face as he realized what he did he sputtered but just couldn’t find the words to explain his embarrassment. Giving up he sighed and rubbed his face with his good hand, brushing his pony tail back he undid the hair tie so his hair cascaded over his face to hide him.

“This is generous… and unnecessary, but I appreciate the sentiment. Thank you.”

Vince Smiled widely as he finally took a seat, licking his suddenly lips and swallows he swore if he blushed any harder he’d faint from lack of blood to the rest of his body, swallowing again he reached for the glass of wine he’d poured for himself and took a sip, his eyes watching Taryn through the fan of his hair around his face

How does it look?

Vince watched her, his body twitched as the almost shy tone of her voice jerked at things low on his body, he stood, setting his glass aside he moved to Taryn, not thinking, just…..acting…. he reached out, gripping the hair tie taryn had in her hair he let it go, her hair falling free of its pony tail he fluffed it out his eyes unblinking, he watched her, a smile curved at the edge of his lips, what the hell was he doing? Why did it feel like he didn’t have control over his own body? What in the hell was wrong with him, he shouldn’t be doing this, touching her like this……Vince commanded his body to obey, to pull away, to run…..to….do…..anything……

“this necklace is nice, but its beauty pales in comparison to yours Taryn, “ Again, he commanded his body to pull away, to run, to go stuff himself in an escape pod, but again his body failed to listen, Vince leaned forward, hesitant, stopping just inchs, before he pressed his lips to hers, it was quick, and light, a whisper of a breath against her skin he finally managed to wrench his body back “IM SORRY!” he turned and made a b-line for the cockpit

It all started with a kiss. The feel of his lips lightly touching the back of her neck set desire aflame. It felt like she’d been woken up from a deep sleep. Turning around to face Vince she thanks him, lightly brushing her lips against his cheek, but it does nothing to quell his embarrassment and he retreats, using his hair as a shield to hide the reddening of his face. She can feel her own face grow warm and knows she needs to say something, ease the moment.

“How does it look?”

Vince stands, gaining confidence and the distance between them disappears as he gazes into her eyes and reaches around to pull the hair tie from her hair causing the black strands to fall just below her chin. Taryn’s eyes study Vince noticing how much more attractive he looks with his hair down around his face. Reaching up she brushes the soft, damp strands from his face the tips of her fingers a feather touch against his skin. Without hesitation she lowers her eyes as he leans, lifting her chin she invites the touch of his lips. The moments pass slowly till finally their lips meet, but all too briefly.

Vince pulls back and takes a quick step backwards apologizing, “I’M SORRY!”

Before she can say a word he retreats leaving her to stand in the common area alone and a little confused. The emotions were/are mutually there. Can he not sense how she feels? Sighing softly, Taryn turns to the table and picks up the wine glass he left behind and takes a slow drink. Closing her eyes she feels the feather weight of the necklace around her neck and reaches out through the Force to Vince, touching his mind with a whisper. “Don’t be embarrassed and don’t be sorry.”

Clearing the table she gives him time alone to put his thoughts and feelings in order. She too needed time to face the truth she’d been denying since the day she stole Vince away from the Jedi Temple. Cal was right. Saving Vince wasn’t just about giving him the second chance she believed he deserved. It was also about her attraction to him.

Walking to the cockpit she shadows the doorway and looks at the back of Vince’s head knowing it is time to confess how she feels.

“Since Coruscant… no, before that … since Corellia when we faced off in the alley something took hold of me. I knew I had to save you; I needed to save you. Yes, I honestly believe you deserve redemption and I wanted us, the Jedi, to be redeemed in your eyes. However, it wasn’t quite that simple… and I couldn’t see it at the time.”

Stepping into the cockpit she stands just behind the co-pilot’s chair and looks down at Vince, “I was warned about the truth of my reasons to save you.”

Dragging the back of her fingers against his neck she confesses what Cal had warned and she had denied. She partly defied the council because of her attraction Vince. “The truth I hadn’t been able to admit was my attraction to you. I wanted you… to save you…for me....”

Vince flopped down into his chair, silently kicking himself he smacks his head against the Bulkhead “stupid, stupid, stupid” sighing he sits back, and stares out the port to the surrounding towers and walls of the docking bay in front of him, watching as people scurry around and do their work, a shiver trails down as his spine as Taryn’s voice drifted through his mind “Don’t be embarrassed and don’t be sorry.” again he smacked himself in the head, why did he feel like a teenager again.

Vince sat there, his mind so jumbled he really even couldn’t think, he stared at his console and let his mind wander he saw the shadow behind him and jumped more a reaction to being snuck up on then actually being scared, turning he cracked his head on the overhead bulkhead and fell back in his chair cursing as he rubbed furiously at his head trying to ease the pain and stars that suddenly sparked in his vision he muttered words that would make a Hutt blush.

Vince still rubbing his head slightly looked up at her, tears glistening in his eyes from the pain he knew he was gunna have a welt from the impact he just turned in his chair, resting his forehead on the console again with a heavy sigh, God he was so confused, so many warring emotions, he felt like he was gunna break down again, a scared little kid, sithspit……….

“I was warned about the truth of my reasons to save you. The truth I hadn’t been able to admit was my attraction to you. I wanted you… to save you…for me....”

The tender caress of her fingers against his neck sent a shudder through his body, and he exhaled slower, his neck had always been sensitive, his last master had discovered that, but Taryns tender caress forced his eyes closed.
“i………Taryn…………”…. Vince sighed, his eyes looked at her, wide, scared, he licked his lips, Taryn’s fingers still gently caressed the back of his neck and he couldn’t ignore how good it felt, he shivered again, slowly he rose to stand, taking her hand in his, grasping it tenderly, he tensed, then relaxed, torn between wanting to pull away or move closer. The warring emotions easily readable, slowly he raised her hand to his lips, and kissed along her knuckles.

“I………Taryn…………”

Taryn stands silently at Vince’s side as he processes her words and shivers beneath the gentle touch of her fingers against his neck. The shakiness of his voice has her second guessing her confession. Perhaps it was too soon; perhaps she should never have confessed. She is the stronger one, at least for now. As he stands to his feet she takes a step backwards to give him room, but with her hand in his their distance is slight. The warmth of his lips against her knuckles sends a warm flutter of desire through her body, but she can see the conflict of emotions in Vince.

“Vince…” her other hand reaches up to gently touch his head where he hit the bulkhead and feels a small lump forming, “let’s get a cold pack for your head.”

Taking his hand in hers she leads him out of the cockpit and back to the common room where she releases his hand. “Have a seat.”

Opening a cabinet she takes a medpac off the shelf and sets it on the table, opening the case she pulls free a cold pack and squeezes it to activate the cooling liquid before handing it to Vince. Taking a seat opposite him a small smile curves across her lips, “I think we should move forward as friends…if at some point we become lovers I want you to be confident in your feelings for me. I didn’t steal you away to seduce you. Yes, I care for you, but our friendship is not dependant on you returning those feelings.”

Sitting back in the chair she folds her hands in her lap as pale green eyes look off to the side, “The last two months have been a strain on both of us… and I wish we had more time here, but as soon as the deliveries arrive and the maintenance check is complete we need to leave. I sense a threat through the Force… “

Taryn hadn’t wanted to tell him of her dream, but keeping things from him would not strengthen his trust of her. “I had a dream… one I believe is a warning… Allura is tracking us and she’s close. She wants you back and to destroy me. There will come a time when you must face her and make your choice, but I’m hoping to give you more time…”

Her voice trails off as the other reality occurs to her and she wants to look at Vince, but she can’t. What if by telling him about Allura he decides he wants to go to her? It’s entirely possible he’s still in love with her even after her betrayal. Taryn’s pale cheeks color pink at the thought and doesn’t want to ask him because if he chooses that path she will have to try and stop him; she’ll have to try and stop them.

, “let’s get a cold pack for your head. Have a seat.”

Vince sighs, shaking his head as he sits, what the fuck was wrong with him, he lost all focus and cognitive functions around her. Some heaping big force user, first his bloody hand now he cracks his head on a panel. God was he stupid?..........he didn’t want an answer to that as he watched Taryn move around the cabin and practically shove him into the lounge chair he couldn’t help but smile….at least slightly. Taking the Cold pack from her he laid his head back and placed the ice pack over his forehead and eyes and let go a sigh

“I think we should move forward as friends…if at some point we become lovers I want you to be confident in your feelings for me. I didn’t steal you away to seduce you. Yes, I care for you, but our friendship is not dependant on you returning those feelings.”

“Taryn………..” there it was, said outloud, by her, IF they become lovers Sure he’d had women, slaves, as his time as a sith, but always he had a sense of power about it, his Dominating them, subjecting them to his will, but her……..she…….was different……again that awkward feeling in the pit of his stomach, his thoughts for the umph-teenth time replaying the past few years with Alura, he’d always Lusted after her, who wouldn’t, everyone wanted to Bang a hot twi’lek chick he was no different and he’d endulged himself, believing though his passions, fighting, sex, that he would grow stronger but Taryn had proved him wrong, she had bested him when no one else could, Beat him, broke him down, showed him for the weakling he truly was.

“The last two months have been a strain on both of us… and I wish we had more time here, but as soon as the deliveries arrive and the maintenance check is complete we need to leave. I sense a threat through the Force… “

Vince frowned, lifting the icepack from his eyes he lifted his head slightly and looked to Taryn “ive felt nothing………but then…….well…..” he sighed “ive…well, I haven’t been paying much attention…just………..to you….” The last was said almost a whisper, a again his stomach did a flip, maybe he ate something that didn’t agree with him?

“I had a dream… one I believe is a warning… Allura is tracking us and she’s close. She wants you back and to destroy me. There will come a time when you must face her and make your choice, but I’m hoping to give you more time…”

Vince jerked visably, all emotion just gone from his face, like a switch flipped his eyes darkened at the Twi’lek’s name and the memorys that one word alone conjured, but none as strong as the betrayal,

“I wouldn’t worry to much about it Taryn…….. If I couldn’t beat you, She doesn’t stand a chance, your better then her……..better person, better fighter……………” his voice trailed off again getting up as his stomach rumbled he remembered he hadn’t eaten anything since lunch. Sitting up he winced as his head throbbed but he made his way to the galley to make something to eat

Taryn watches Vince’s reaction as she tells him about Alura the emotions she senses are conflicted, but the desire to return to her isn’t something she senses and to that she feels relief. Though she is concerned by his stone reaction if they are forced to deal with her so soon it could pull him back to the darkside.

“I wouldn’t worry too much about it Taryn…….. If I couldn’t beat you, She doesn’t stand a chance, you’re better than her……..better person, better fighter……………”

“Thank you.” She says softly and watches him get up to leave for the galley. She remains seated thinking about the last few weeks; she’s left the Jedi Order and run off with him for lack of a better phrase. The move was impulsive, which is unlike her, but she has no regrets. In fact, she’s hopeful for their future. Tonight may not have gone exactly smoothly, but that seems to be the nature of their relationship; in any case they understand each other a little better.

Her mind wanders to the brief kiss they shared which lead to her telling him how she feels about him. Leaning her head back she closes her eyes and is mildly disappointed at her restraint to stop anything more happening between them. While it feels right between them she’s not sure complicating their relationship is what he needs right now. Standing up Taryn joins Vince in the galley stopping just inside the doorway. “Do you need any help?”

Vince strolled into the Galley, looking around his hands on his hips, he licked his lips, he wasn’t really seeing anything, this thoughts and mind still a jumble from what Taryn and he had just talked about. Looking around he ran a mental checklist of what he remember of their food stocks, although Taryn had just restocked he wasn’t sure just what he wanted to eat he sighed and decided on a few sandwiches. Turning he looked around at the storage lockers and cabinets.

With a thought he turned and uplifted his hand, 2 cabinets opened a knife and cooking skillet lifted from their respective resting places and floated to his hands. Grasping the handles of the knife and skillet he set them on the burner, deciding on BLT’s for now he looked over his shoulder again held out his hand calling on the force the Cold storage locker opened, with a single thought the ingredients Vince needed freed themselves and floated to him, nubian tomatoes , corellian bacon and some fresh lettuce he flicked the burner on and cracked open the package of Bacon laying out several strips, feeling a shift in the air currents behind him he knew Taryn had joined him when her soft voice floated to him

“Do you need any help?”

“well…………”*he sighed* “I was thinking Sandwich’s and soup, but for the lack of brain power I cant figure out what I want. Was just gunna ask you what if any soup you like or we have available?” he looked over his shoulder then turned away, leaving the skillet to cook and bacon for a few minutes “Im making BLT’s sandwichs, hope you don’t mind, we haven’t eaten or at least I haven’t since we left the ship this morning, would you like anything to drink? I picked up a bottle of spiced tarisian Ale at the markets”

Vince turned back to the skillet, looking around realizing he forgot tongs to flip the bacon he sighed, with a quick flick of his fingers the bacon lifts and flips itself

Standing in the doorway she watches Vince move around the kitchen and manipulating the Force to aid in the simplest task; in some ways he’s still inexperienced or perhaps just a little lazy. The smell of bacon just beginning to sizzle makes her stomach growl.

“Do you need any help?” She asks.

“well…………”

She lifts her brow hearing him sigh after her question and tilts her head to the side a light smile touching her lips.

“I was thinking Sandwich’s and soup, but for the lack of brain power I can’t figure out what I want. Was just gunna ask you what if any soup you like or we have available?”

His head turns, their eyes meet and there are the flutters, a light pulse of excitement centered in the pit of her stomach.

“I’m making BLT’s sandwiches, hope you don’t mind, we haven’t eaten or at least I haven’t since we left the ship this morning, would you like anything to drink? I picked up a bottle of spiced Tarisian Ale at the markets”

“I don’t mind.” Stepping into the galley it’ll be a tight working space with both of them cooking. “And soup sounds like a perfect side dish. There is broth and some dried vegetables I can put in a pan. Our fresh produce won’t arrive until tomorrow.”

Crouching down to pull a pan from the cupboard she sets it on the counter and turns around rummage around in another cabinet for the ingredients. The package of mixed dried vegetables designed to reform when boiled in liquid the flavors of each are indistinguishable from each other, but the nutrition is there and a few dried spices boiled into the broth helps brighten the taste. “A drink sounds good with dinner.”

Her hand gently touches his hip as she squeezes behind him sauce pan in hand and sets it on the warming circle then reaches around in front of him for the ingredients. “Excuse me.”

Opening a drawer at her right hip she pulls free a pair of tongs and hands them to Vince with a smile and a wink. “The menial tasks should be handled the old fashion way to help keep us humble.”

The words are said gently, meant as advice not to admonish and are followed by a light jab of her elbow into his side. While the broth is set to boil she pulls two glasses from the cupboard and sets them on the counter, the smell of bacon now filling the small space and doing nothing to stop the growling of her stomach. The ale is poured and she clinks her glass to his before taking a sip the strong flavor makes the corners of her eyes to crinkle with a wince followed by a laugh. “I don’t drink very often, but it’s good.”

Seeing the water boil she scoops up the package of dried vegetables. “Go set our sandwiches on the table the soup will be ready in a couple of minutes.”

Squeezing between him and the counter she playfully pushes him out of the way, but for a moment their bodies press together, his form feels strong pressed to her back. The result of the brief contact is a blush to pale cheeks and her gaze stuck on the boiling pot as she empties the packet into the broth. The steam rises from the pot warming her face as she watches the dried pieces of various vegetables soak up the broth and take on an their original form. A spoon is retrieved from the drawer and a few spices added as she stirs the simple concoction.

The couple of times Vince walks back into the galley to carry their food, drink and utensils she smiles and tries not to appear like some lovesick school girl. Her confession to him, to herself, brought everything to the surface making her feel giddy, light and wanting. Patience is her strongest attribute, so no matter what she may want she can wait till its right for both of them. Reaching into the cupboard above her head she pulls down two bowls and fills them with soup. The warming circle turned off and the pan placed into the washer she picks up the bowls and carefully walks into the common area. One bowl set down by his plate and one by her own she takes a seat opposite him, but when she looks across the table her eyes don’t quite meet his feeling a little embarrassed? Yes, a little. She’d been uncharacteristically bold about her feelings today. There are no regrets; however she doesn’t want to him feel as if he’s expected to reciprocate.

Picking up the glass filled with ale she raises it to him, smiles, and then sips before eating. While swallowing the first bite she nods her head in approval. “Mmmm… it’s good.”

“I don’t mind. And soup sounds like a perfect side dish. There is broth and some dried vegetables I can put in a pan. Our fresh produce won’t arrive until tomorrow.”

Vince nodded gently as he watched what he was doing. He felt Taryn move around him, he couldn’t help but smile, the nearness, her presence soothed him, again he could feel himself relax around her. When her hand touched his hip he froze in surprise, but quickly he resumed what he was doing, grabbing the plate he’d set aside he levitated the bacon from the burner and laid them out.

“Excuse me.”

He felt Taryn slide past him, her hand lingering for only a moment before he turned and looked he couldn’t help but laugh as she grabbed the tongs he’d forgotten. “The menial tasks should be handled the old fashion way to help keep us humble.”

“yea but, I suck at cooking, I learned that a long time ago, it has just been easier for me this way, at least this way what I cook is edible and doesn’t look like something a Ronto stepped on…” he grinned to her as he turned with the planet of Bacon in his hand. Seeing her Pour the ale he picked it up and sniffed it gently “it was a good year I think, smells sweet” he clinked his glass with Taryns as she moved away so he could pass

“I don’t drink very often, but it’s good. Go set our sandwiches on the table the soup will be ready in a couple of minutes.”

“sure thing hun” Vince smiled, a little bounce in his step, he chuckled as he felt Taryn shift and bump into him, without a single thought vince leaned in, a soft kiss placed at the base of Taryn’s neck, and vince for just a second froze, realizing what he just did, his eyes widened and he suddenly turned making a B-line for the common area were they were gunna eat, hiding the hot red blush that ran up his face, he felt like he’d just had a flame thrower aimed at him and he was burning quick, he the plate down and grabbed the bread, his mind whirling. He’d just kissed her, well, her neck, what the hell? ………but……well…it…….felt right……..good………

Vince paced back and forth laying out the dinner ware and such, finally settling down as he watched Taryn take a bite and the satisfied look on his face as she beamed and enjoyed it, with a nod to her compliment he began to eat, his long hair having been taken from his braid he allowed his hair to hide to his, he could still feel the hot blush on his skin

The kiss just like before felt natural, felt right and yet still he retreats. Sighing softly Taryn waits for the soup to finish cooking, stirring on occasion and decides not to speak of what just happened. Vince will have to decide what becomes of their relationship. Joining him at the table their dinner is eaten mostly in silence, mildly awkward silence.

Admittedly Taryn is not certain what to do next; she saved him from the council’s judgment, gave up her own role within the Order and now they are on the run. Pushing and picking at the food on her plate she barely eats while still sipping steadily at the ale. At some point they will have to answer for their actions.

Why? Is the question she asks, why did she runaway with him? Pale green eyes lift to stare at Vince studying his features and there is that familiar flutter of her heart. Why, indeed.

“I think we should head to Nubia next. It’s a mid-rim plant located along the Corellia Run, but enough out of the way and we can easily blend into the populace.”

Finally done with the food she stands to her feet and feels the affects of the ale, pausing for a moment, so she doesn’t need to sit back down. Gathering her plates she smiles to Vince. “Good night.”

Leaving him to finish his meal she places her plates in the galley before she retires to her quarters.

“I think we s hould head to Nubia next. It’s a mid-rim plant located along the Corellia Run, but enough out of the way and we can easily blend into the populace.”

Vince looked up from his food, blinking a few times he nodded gently then took a drink from his glass, sitting back he moved his mostly empty plate away. He tilted his head to one side as he thought. Nubia, he recalled the last time he had made a pit stop there. He frowned slightly then looked up meeting Taryns Gaze as he smiled

“if I remember correctly I think I still have a contact there, might be able to offer us Shelter or at least point us in the direction of a place we can stay, there is a small town in the Equitorial area of the North hemisphere were we can land, not close to any major ports, unless of course you wanting to find another port?”

Vince watched as Taryn rose from her seat, he didn’t miss the fact she really hadn’t eaten and he could almost sense the thoughts that troubles her. The looks that crossed her face made him arch a brow. Sadly he had taken notice she wasn’t very good as of late at hiding her emotions and thoughts…….or maybe he was just getting to know the Subtle signs she did display?

As his question remained unanswered he sighed and filled his fork with the last few bits of food he’d had left hearing Taryns soft ““Good night.”” He cleaned up the mess they’d made and put the food back into storage and the dinner ware as well. Picking up his glass he finished the rest of the Ale and tossed his cup away. As he stared at the door were Taryn had walked out he stroked his chin then tucked a strand of hair behind his ear.

“hmmm”
Vince left the Kitchen and made his way towards the Cabins. Hearing Taryn shuffle around he knocked softly on the Frame of her door, leaning against the door frame he crossed his arms over his chest and leaned into the cool metal frame

“whats wrong Taryn? I can sense your unease………..”
