Star Wars: Return of the Sith

Tynan frowned and nodded. He was already here far longer than he had wished, but could not just abandon the boy. He had taken him under his protection, and his honor dictated that he stay with him until that oath could be transferred to another.

"So be it. Two warnings, however. Inform your men not to go near my ship. I've set impassible traps to keep anyone out. The traps cannot be bypassed, even by a Jedi." He turned his gaze on the Seargent. "Secondly, I respect the need to keep your weapon - you know too little about me to do otherwise - but you will be careful with it. I've already had too many weapons aimed at me lately for my liking, and I have no desire to kill anyone today unnecessarily."

He turned back toward Marius. "Could we perhaps reture to someplace more comfortable, and await Jedi DuVall?"

"And," he added, lifting his cloak to show one lightsaber, "perhaps loan me some remotes for some exercise?"

Marius

I nodded in agreement.
"More comfortable surroundings are easily available. Would you prefer inddors or outdoors?" I asked, waving him toward the complex. The more comforting outdoor areas are in the back, I knew, near where the sparring had taken place earlier.
"And Sgt. Beegas is quite skilled with his weapon, and always responsible. We are blessed with a more than competent crew or servicemen here." I assured him.

"Excellent. Outdoors would be fine."

Tynan signalled for Luke to join him, and he fell in beside Marius.

Luke tugged on his cloak, and Tynan looked down at him.

"Is he a Jedi, too?" Luke whispered.

Tynan nodded. He had told the boy that he himself was no longer a jedi, but the boy seemed to want to ignore that.

"And Mister Raine is a Jedi?"

"Jedi Raine is a woman, and wouldn't take kindly to being called mister, Luke."

"What's a Padawan?"

"An apprentice," Tynan said with some irritation in his voice. He had never been good with children. He glanced at Marius to see what he thought of the conversation, but could not read his thoughts on his face.

"Are you better with a lightsaber than them?"

Tynan stopped, and dropped to one knee. "No more questions."

Luke dropped his eyes, and Tynan sighed. "OK, one more. And then you'll be quiet until you're asked a question. Understood?"

Luke looked up at him, and nodded. "How would you beat them if you had too?"

"Preferably," Tynan answered, "I would beat them both with a very large stick while they slept. Only a fool attacks superior numbers without surprise on his side. And violence is only used as a last resort." That was one lesson he tried to adhere to, although it was difficult at times. "Now lets go."

He rose, and walked beside Marius again, with Luke at his side.

"I apologise for the boy's rudeness. I found him on Tattooine. He's an orphan," he said, as if that explained anything.

"May I ask, what you're doing here with armed troops? have things gotten worse for the Jedi lately?"

"The boy's behavior is natural for a child of his age. He has been, in my experience with children, fairly well-behaved thus far. And the troops, well, that's a longer explanation, I suppose," I explained.
We entered the complex and moved through the halls toward the back exit, myself and Tynan in the lead, with the boy Luke close by Tynan, and Beegas and the other troops moving close behind.
"This base has been here for quite some time. It is like many bases that the Rebel troops once had scattered throughout the star systems. It was never of much use when the battle against the Empire was taking place, but now that the war is over, we use it as an outpost, and as a training facility."
We exited out the way I'd entered earlier with Daelon, into the recent sparring grounds of myself and Daelon, then Raine and Kelson.
I glanced at the man, having walked with my attention focused ahead until then. I could feel this man, a stranger where I'd known only friends. I was beginning to realize that the force was more with me than I originally thought. I was used to Daelon and Kelson and Raine, and sfound them harder to sense, given had often they were there. Almost as though they were part of the scenery.
A new presence I caught onto immediately, and it stayed with me as I walked. I could feel the fliudity of his movements, how he felt to a certain degree, just by relaxing and allowing myself to feel those things. AS we stopped outside, I turned to him, now feeling like a Jedi.
"This outpost is just a shell of what it once was, but it is operational, as who knows when such places will be of use again. The Jedi are fewer in number than we should be still, as I'm sure you're aware. We cannot keep everything at peace with our numbers so low, and as history teaches us, even the large numbers the Jedi had when the Republic still stood were not enough to stop certain enemies from taking control. This is a good place for training, practice, exercise, meditation, prety much anything. I'm sure when Raine finds the time, she'll join us. Until then, I hope I'm good enough company."

Kelson stepped silently into the room, his presence reveiled only to Raine, who, by now, was much accustomed to his manipulations, as he sought control over the flow in the room. Who would come to this place...especially a Jedi? And, moreso, come to where a quartet of Jedi just happened to be training? Coincidence was something he had been taught long ago to distrust. This seemed a potentially dangerous situation...but then again...even the innocent may seem so if seen using a critical eye.

The master watched quietly awaiting the conversation to pick up so he might learn something about this visitor. He certainly didn't feel inclemently inclined.

OOC) Btw, loving your rp tynan :)

Daelon

OOC: And welcome to the Guru Club, Paendragon.

IC: Daelon entered silently behind his master, taking his place next to Kelson. The padawan's eyes looked at this new jedi, as his mind reached out and tried to "feel" the force around the man. It was somewhat different to the others' auras, but unmistakably lawfully aligned. This feeling of purity and goodness, combined with the sheer stength of the force around him, revealed to Daelon that this was indeed a jedi.
Daelon leaned over to whisper into the ear of his master. "Definately a jedi." he spoke, completely sure of his answer.

Viser/Dartum

He could sense it clearly now. It was like a picture that was out all fuzzy, but slowly coming into focus. First, one could make out colors and vague shapes, then distinct lines and patterns followed, and finally the thing was so crisp and clear, one had to hold his breathe in awe of it.
He felt that now.
Four Jedi at the outpost. Two strong, and two weak, apprentice's, no doubt. They didn't seem to bother him as much as the 2 Jedi did. He could sense strength, almost as great as his. With their combined efforts, he could not take them.
Seperately... that was a different matter.
He smiled as a woman came over, explaining herself. Shaking her hand gently, he glanced over at the others. It would be time now, he supposed.
"I have been serving under cover for the Empire for nearly two years. I was simply waiting, for anyone to find out if there were any Jedi left. I had heard rumors, and certain feelings came to me from time to time, but I didn't know for sure. Part of my spying was to see if there were any other Jedi, and part of it was to warn anyone else of impending attacks."
He took in a deep breath, continuing, "The Empire knows of this outpost. They found out just a few hours ago, and hearing that there were possibly Jedi here, I rushed here as soon as I could. I came here to warn you, warn everyone on this planet. The Empire is going to strike at dawn tomorrow, and they are using everything they've got."
His vision passed across the room, as eyes sunk and faces turned grave. He had just told them of their impending death's, how were they supposed to feel?
"Apart from this message, I also offer my services to your cause. I know what it's like to be outnumbered and overwhelmed. That is how I lost my own master... it will not happen again though."
His eyes genuinely showed interest in what was going on. Inside, part ofh im only wanted to laugh insanely, but... a strong part, the better part, made him feel pity and remorse for these people.
This crystal was really beginning to be a bother.

OOC: Thanks Kelson. I'm enjoying the thread. The characters are all great which helps me get into it. I find myself coming in to Lit, even when I can't post, just to see what everyone else is doing. And DW *shining his new Guru badge* I hadn't even noticed until you mentioned it. Glad I'm more than just really really experienced now, though. :D

IC:
Marius seemed to be a student of history. Good. As for the base being operational...

"It's good to see that you've kept yourselves vigilant. Eventually, the Sith will find you, and the remnants of the Empire will attack. They want nothing more than to eliminate all Jedi from the galaxy, and will throw all their resources at you to accomplish it. The lives of their men mean nothing when it comes to that goal."

He let his hold on his senses, and soaked in the resonances from the life around him. To feel the Force was what it was to be truly alive, and he couldn't help but feel somehow lessened when he was forced to reign it in.

He could sense the lives of the people throughout the base. Mostly soldiers, with a few exceptions. He could feel the four Jedi, their 'vibrations' slightly different than a normal humans. Wait...not four.... Five?

"I'm sure you'll be excellent company. May I ask how many Jedi are here in the compound?"

Kelson extended forth his cloak of un-noticeability (you just don't pay any attention to things in the area...completely ignored) to his young padawan, whispering into his ear, "Now listen to how he speaks of being undercover...how many Jedi Knights has history shown ever participated in such activites?"

Raine

Undercover with the Sith? It seemed unlikely, but how often did Jedi lie? I guessed that perhaps the anger and hatred that the Sith possessed, the things that made the dark side dark, might have clouded thier vision, but it seemed a stretch, even given that I wanted to believe him. I wouldn't give in the suspicion just yet.
"You've been discovered I take it?" I asked. I sensed Kelson had entered, but barely. He was up to his old tricks, his own uncertainty leading him to spy on the scene.
"How many are there, would you say? Sith i mean?"

Marius

"How many Jedi?" I said. "Well. Myself and Dealon are Padawans, though i believe we are nearing the time when we will face the trials. Not Jedi yet, however. Kelson and Raine, and the newcomer. Three. Now that you are no longer a Jedi that is."
"The Sith," I begin, playing it cool. "You belive they are a real threat? That they are strong enough to truly destroy the Jedi?"
I tried not to let on that their existance was a mere fairy tale to me until he'd mentioned them. Raine's recent distraction was beginning to make sense to me. I was curious how strong the Sith were becoming, and this man might have answers that could help Daelon and I understand exactly what was happening in the Universe.

Tynan was urprised that Marius wouldn't consider the Sith a threat, but didn't let it show. Maybe the Jedi had been expecting an attack of some kind? What newcomer? Tynan had never met Kelson, but knew the name. Master Skywalker had spoken of the Jedi Master often.

"They are a threat. The Sith wish to rule - they believe it to be their destiny - and they view the Jedi as a threat to that destiny. I completed a contract on one who called himself Darth Storm, recently. I had tracked him for weeks until catching up to him. I believe he came out of concealment because he was summoned. By whom, I don't know; but I believe it means the Sith are planning something."

He locked his eyes on Marius. "Something big."

He studied the Padawan for a moment, unsure of whether to admit the other reason for him wanting to speak with a Jedi. In the end, he decided Marius should know.

"One more thing. Before leaving Tatooine, I felt something." He frowned slightly, the memory of the sensation making him slightly uncomfortable, and then cursing himself inwardly for the weakness. "It was a wave of Dark side energy unlike anything I have ever felt before. A psychic scream of some kind. Anger and pain, mostly... but underneath it, a cry for vengence. Unsettling, and this from one whose faced a Sith face to face. I'd like to speak to the Jedi about it."

Tynan noticed he had been gripping his visible lightsaber tightly, and forced his hand to relax. The Dark side energy must have been bothering him more than he realized. Control yourself, Tynan. You'll have to face it eventually, or you won't. Either way, stay in control. You're no boy, insecure in his power anymore.

He changed the subject. "The newcomer, do you know him?"

Daelon

Daelon's brow was forced into a frown as he considered what Kelson was thinking.
"Master... don't you think you're being a bit paranoid? I can feel the force coming from him, and it is definately not malevolant. Sure, it is not something that has happened before, but the universe is always changing." he whispered back into Kelson's ear.

Viser/Dartum

The jedi nodded, solemnly.
"I was on a far outreach system. Nothing too close to where the Sith were, but close enough to get tidbits of information. Things came through, rumors mostly. Nothing as grand as this though. There are ships coming, as we speak, not to mention the partial army already settled on the other side of the planet. They have weapons, droids, anything and everything imaginable..."
He looked at the people in the room, glancing from each eye, not looking to see if they believed him, but of how dire the situation really is. Despite everything, he already felt himself surging, wanting to help, to be a part of all this.
He nearly growled at his sense of kindness.
"I would love to tell you more, but I don't think there is time. If you have any ships, any other sources to help, I think you should prepare them."

Kelson murmured back to his padawan, "What did I tell you about assuming anything? What if I were to tell you right now that you are ready for the trials? Does it make you anymore ready in reality? No, it just comforts you. Do not assume the truth in all things is absolute, but keep listening"

Daelon

Daelon screwed up his face, still in disagreeance with his master. Still, Kelson was older, and much more experienced, and deserved his respect, so the padawan did as commanded.

Marius

I was thinking of his words, all the while fighting to keep my hand from finding my lightsaber. His hand had tightly gripped the handle of his, and I was getting edgy, with him being so close to drawing the weapon. I could get the saber out in plenty of time to defend, regardless of how fast the man was, but winning in the confrontation seemed a much more far-fetched outcome.
He spoke of serious issues, that apparently bothered him as he felt they would bother us. He had the heart of a Jedi yet, I believed.
The Sith, I thought, as his hand released the weapon, are what have been bothering Raine. She's felt them, their presence in the Universe, possibly near here. This man has actually seen them, recently killed one, if I am to believe him, and I sensed his honesty as he spoke, at least when the tension hadn't taken him over.
I looked up at the man.
"I haven't seen the man yet. Raine and Kelson are with him now, I believe," I responded. "Should something be amiss, certainly, they will uncover it. Could I interest you in something to eat, perhaps, or to drink?"

Raine

A dozen questions flooded my mind, like why he didn't tell of of this threat before it became such a threat. Especially when he was learning for two years. That's enough time to build half an army, not a strong one, but an army is an army. It seemed we were now in position where instead of building a New Republic, we might be starting a New Rebellion.
I remained calm, however.
"An army..." I thought aloud. "Droids and whatnot."
I nodded, not breaking my expression, trying not to let on my concern.
"I will go and find Kelson myself, and see what is taking him so long. I will share this information with him, and hold palaver with him. I will return shortly. Make youself comfortable, please. You are our guest here, afterall."
I exited, then stopped outside the door and waited to see if Kelson had caught on that I wanted him to exit and speak with me.

"Drink would be welcome, I thank you." He turned toward the boy, who, true to his word, hadn't said a word. "Luke, would you like anything?"

The boy nodded so hard his head seemed like it would roll right off. "I'm hungry."

"Remember your manners, Luke."

The boy made a face. "Please."

Tynan could barely keep the grin of his face.

"Also, do you have any practice remotes?" he asked the Padawan. "Two of them would be appreciated. My ship is more of a fighter than a cruiser. It gets slightly cramped, and there's not much room for exercise. I could use some while we wait."

He would have asked Marius to spar, but didn't want any misunderstanding to occur if someone came upon the scene. They might not see the practice for what it was, and try to blast him. And as he said earlier, he's in no mood to kill anyone today if he can at all avoid it.

OOC: By remotes, I mean the little globes that shoot lasers at you, like in the original Star wars with Luke and Obi Wan on the Millenium Falcon. I'm not sure what they're called. :)

Marius

"I will have them sent out, along with food for the boy and drink for you both," I say. "And I will find Raine and remind her that you wish to speak to her."
I headed inside and told the nearest of the servants to being the food and whatnot to Tynan.
I wandered toward the meeting rooms, wondering what that meaning was to having so much happen in one day.

Food and drink was brought out to them along with the two practice remotes Tynan had asked for. Luke immediately feel to the ground and began wolfing down his food. Tynan took a few sips from his drink and placed it off to the side.

Strange occurances. He arrives here the same day as a mysterious Jedi, soon after feeling something through the Force that he had never experienced before. Plus, he couldn't shake the feeling he was still in danger.

He sighed, and unclipped his lightsabers from his belt, igniting the blue blades. He reached out with the Force, and turned the remotes on. They immediately leapt into the air, and began to circle him. Luke watched intently, chewing slowly, now.

Tynan closed his eyes, and immerssed himself in the Force, until he could feel the remotes, and then until he could feel where they would be firing, before they actually fired. He spun before the first bolt left the remote, and deflected it with his left hand blade, then brought his right hand blade across his back to block the second. They fire both nearly simultaneously at him, and staggered their attack to throw him off. It was futile, of course.

Tynan's blades were a blur, spinning and slashing constantly, and deflecting every single bolt they sent his way. Soon his unconscius mind took over, and his body responded to the threats without his guidance; his conscious mind descending into the deep bottomless pool that is the Force. He could feel the vibrations of life all across the compound, and out into the forests. He could feel the animals in their habitats, specifically a small furry rodent, hunting for nuts. He could sense its uneasiness as it went about its lifes task, and he could feel it's death scream as it was crushed in the jaws of a predator. All life, everywhere, was encompassed in the Force. Then he heard it.

Tynan. There is danger...

"Master Skywalker?" his mind whispered.

It is a critical time. The future is balanced on the edge of a blade. The Dark side rises...

"The Sith?"

Be careful of them. Treachery and deciet are their life's blood, and their ultimate tools of conquest. Now is the time when the Jedi must stand together, now is the time of the jedi's greatest challenge. You must...

He heard a hissing, and dark power surround him. Then the power of good enveloped him, pushing the darkness away, and forcing him upward. Tynan's conscious mind slammed back into his body, and his eyes shot open. The remotes were still before him, as if frozen. He hadn't even realized he had used the Force to switch them off.

He turned off the blades, and the remotes, and fell to his knees covered in sweat.

"Blast, what the hell was that?"

"Tend to our guest, Padawan."

Kelson tipped his head in case the man had noticed his presence, then silently followed Raine through a closing door. Ensuring it was completely closed, Kelson released his tight hold on the force then turned to Raine. His face was relaxed and his eyes gentle, but deep within where only those closest to him could delve a fiery blaze had ignited...he sensed danger but wished not to speak it fully.

"I sense another visitor...perhaps he may offer more insight into this matter then the current one. Although I do not trust him, such words are not to be taken lightly from one of the force. His practices of deceit as a spy raises grave questions, to me, of his nature...but such things may wait I suppose. Do you agree that it may be best to find more before conversing, Raine?"

Daelon

Daelon moved closer to Dartum, standing behind the seat that was opposite the other jedi.
"It is a surprise to see another jedi here, Dartum. But, enough about that. Can I get you anything? A meal, perhaps?" Daelon asked, keeping his face set hard like stone.

Dartum smiled at the young trainee, a calmness flooding over him. Peaceful serenity, in all honesty, how could these people live with it?
"Just a drink perhaps, something light. I would like a tour of the facilities though, just to see exactly what kind of firepower you... I mean,we have."
The other two were converging, he had no plan on interfering with them. Probably going over their next plan of action, that's what he'd be doing.
Giving a final look around the room, he followed the young apprentice.

Tynan rolled over to a sitting position, and Luke scrambled over to him.

"Are you ok?" the boy asked.

Tynan nodded. "I'll be fine. Go finish eating."

"Finish? I'm done. You were practicing for over fifteen minutes."

Fifteen minutes? It had felt like less than a minute to him. And what about the warning? Had that really been Master Skywalker? Why was this time so vital for the Jedi?

"It seems like I have some more questions for the Jedi," he whispered.

Luke wrinkled his face at him, confused.

"Don't worry about it. Work on the exercises I taught you."

The boy sat down cross legged and closed his eyes. Tynan could feel a surge in the Force, than a flicker, as the boy practiced his meditation. He was a quick study, but Tynan didn't pay much attention. His mind was all on the vision.
