Star Wars: Return of the Sith

Orin had watched a Toydarian with a droid and a repulsor disk board the ship. Now he looked fist one way and then the other as he stepped away from the wall he had been leaning against. He inwardly groaned at the weight of the heavy pack on his back and the tool case he hefted in his right hand. A hot wind blew against his face as he made his way up toward the ship.

"I can't wait to get out of here," he thought. He also wondered how this encounter was going to go, he was hopeful though. He didn't look too intimidating, being around 5'9" and 190 lbs. with shaggy dusty blond hair and green eyes. Also, credits talked. And with a Toydarian onboard, that would surely help.

Orin again looked around before taking a few steps up the boarding ramp. He shouted, "Hello, is someone up there?!"

Tholin Mod, Sith Warrior

OOC: Description:
Hair, black with a ponytail held together with a strip of leather
Eyes: Green
has a mustache & goatee
Height: 6'2"
weight: 230 lbs
he is dressed in black robes & black jedi clothes much like Lukes in RotJ. His lightsaber is a 2.5' black cylinder clipped to his belt, & he is wearing a belt with some pouches on it for his comlink & creditchits. He has a kit bag with him, & force users can sense something unusual about it if examined closely.

IC: *hmmmm, this may be what I am looking for.*
I walk to the docking bay, following the Toldarian & his sled of parts. They finally emerge in a bay with a ship of a type I do not recognize, but it looks adequate to the task of getting me off this rock. The Toldarian stops & starts talking with a young woman, guesturing wildly at the sled of parts & the droid pushing them.
The woman brushed back her hair with a exasperated look on her face. I had to smile, the look so like my mothers when I was telling her some fanciful tale of what kind of mischief I had gotten myself into. wwwell, nothing gained by standing here. I walk up to the ship, under the watchful gaze of the young woman the moment I step out from the shadows.

"Excuse me, but you seem yto be loading up to leave this planet. I am in need of a ride out of here myself, almost anywhere else will do. I do have credit, & can pay my way."
I try to look harmless, something I am not very good at, but i do try.

Kerra Shiran

Mogo nervously flies back to her. "Boss, ... I also ... sort of got us a job & a new mechanic." She throws her arms up in the air. "YOU WHAT!! That's just great Mogo." Kerra hears of a male voice calling from the ramp. "Hello, is someone up there?!" Kerra motions him to be quiet. "I'll talk to you about this in a minute. Help the droid pack & meet me back outside." She walks down the ramp, blaster in hand.

She sees a boy-man there with a large pack & tool case, he reminded her of the holos of Skywalker at the same age. Kerra places her gun back into its holster. "I'm the Captian of this craft, what did you want?" She gives him the once over. "I ... ummm ... uhhh ..." That's all she gets from him. "You look like the mechanic, Mogo spoke of. Well ... don't just stand there get your butt on board." Yelling behind her, "Mogo, the mech is here. Show him, his quarters." She doesn't wait for his answer, but turns & goes back down the ramp.

The Toydarian made sure to keep out of arms reach, when he got back outside. He knew when Kerra vented, it was best to stay out of her way. "What by the Force, do you mean sort of? Last sort of job you got us. Became a charity case, that almost got a bounty on my head!" Mogo opens his mouth to speak. She lifts a hand to silence him. "Nevermind, I don't want to hear your excuses." She fumes silently.

Then senses something in the bay. "This job better put credits in my pocket." Turning quickly to face the new threat, she says quietly over her shoulder. "Mogo, get inside now." He is a litle puzzled but obeys. It paid to listen to Kerra when she orders you to do something. Abiding by her words, has save his skin on occasions. With Mogo safe, she watches a figure step out of the shadows. From her perspective he was good looking, if not menancing presents. Noting the clothes & cylinder clipped to his belt, almost hidden from the folds of the robe. She watches him approach, hand near her waist ready to draw the blaster if he tried anything.

A rich voice emanates from his mouth. "Excuse me, but you seem to be loading up to leave this planet. I am in need of a ride out of here myself, almost anywhere else will do. I do have credit, & can pay my way." I size him up a bit. Thinking to herself, *Hmm ... This much be the job, Mogo spoke of. Something doesn't sit quite right with him & I just can't place my finger on it.* He trys hard to impress me.

"You, must be the job that Mogo spoke of. I'm the Captain, welcome on board just go on in. By the way what is your name? Mogo didn't mention it." She says, as ushers him in.

Tholin Mod, Sith Warrior

I look back at the young woman & smile. " I am Tholin, & it is my pleasure to meet you. So, where are we heading, & am i sharing a bearth, or do I have a cabin to myself?"
She seems young to be a owner of a vessel, but then again the outer rim makes you grow up fast. She also has some strength in the force, this close its easy to sense. Untrained tho. It doesn't matter. As long as she gets me off this dirtball I'll be happy.

Kerra Shiran

"I haven't decided on where to head next but you will be the first to know." She winks at him. "You have also lucked out in getting the last cabin on the ship." She then speaking over her shoulder to the Toydarian, as he comes back. "Mogo, show this gentleman," I motion at tall, dark & handsome. "Tholin you said, to his quarters & do the pre-flight checks." Kerra hears him say, "Right boss. Uh ... this way, sir." She go back down the ramp to push the remaining cart inside.

Kerra ponders if the new help & passenger will be a problem during her pilgrimage. *A man with no set destination, can only mean trouble. As well as that droid, Mogo purchased.* She pushes the cart up the ramp, just as a blaster bolt hits the ship where her head just was moments earlier. She shoves the cart inside. Pulling out then firing her blaster, as she turns to face the enemy.

Men swarming into the docking bay, they all look like guns for hire to her. "DAMN!" She hits the com on her wrist. "Mogo, forget the flight checks start her up. We got company." She fired a few more shots, as she back up the ramp. Hitting the hatch button when she is inside, the two men just have come from thier quarters. "Buckle up people, we are out of here." She heads directly to the cockpit without waiting for a reply. Picking up a headset & straping in, she then flips the switch to take off. "Next stop, Alderaan."

Mogo

What does she want anyway? I could only repair so many things at a time. Two hands, that meant two at most. Didn't she understand that?
I led the mechanic into his quarters and pointed to the small cot and storage spaces.
"This is where you will stay for now," I said. "That is where you can put your things. Any questions?"
I shrugged, knowing there would be none (how could there be?) and headed back out to speak with Kerra.
"What are you so upset about?" I asked her, after she'd vented, but she hadn't even tried to listen.
"Nevermind, I don't want to hear your excuses," she snapped.
Then she was distracted by somethign, one of her odd "feelings" and she told me to get inside.
I moved inside again, leaving her outside with whatever had spooked her. I paid no attention to the man who'd distracted her, but instead, just went inside like she'd suggested, ranting to myself under my breath.
"She wants the Hyperdrive fixed, always the hyperdrive having trouble, so I need the parts to fix the hyperdrive. But to get those, we need credits. And we don't have enough credits," I bitched, waving my arms as if it accentuated some point I would probably fail to make anyway. "And how do we get credits? By working, so I get us a little side job, something to generate a few credits, and what does she do...?"
I sighed, checking on the droid to ensure it had properly secured the items I'd "acquired" from Watto. Everything looked to be in good condition, save one thing.
"D-V9," I began, "That case there is of special importance. I need you place it in an especially safe place. Let me show you..."
A few moments later, I met her back outside, curious to see what was going on there. She seemed to be geting along well with the strange man, though the look of him did not make me comfortable.
"Shouldn't we be going, Captain?" I asked.
"Mogo, show this gentleman, Tholin you said, to his quarters and do the preflight checks."
His quarters? What the...?
"Right boss, uh...this way sir." I mumble, confused at this last turn of events. This wasn't good, especially with the "special cargo" I'd picked up from Watto, something which he'd said was of special value to the hutts.
I led the man up the ramp and pointed him to the last room, not bothering with the pleasantries or even the brief two sentence tour.
"That way," I said instead, then turned to move toward the cockpit.
"Mogo, forget the flight checks; start her up. We've got company!" Her voice echoes from the bay.
She's here a second later, moving toward the cockpit. SHe sits down in the pilot's seat, and I fly up behind her, the two we'd just acquired at shipmates close behind.
"Buckle up people, we are out of here," she explains, as we start the engine and ready for take off.
"Did I mention that we needed to hurry?" I asked. The ship vibrated slightly as it lifted off, then we were moving, blaster rounds cruising past us, though i was fairly certain that several of them were finding their marks on the rear of the ship.
"This is the part where we test the hyperdrive..." I muttered, as we exited the bay and headed toward the atmosphere.

Marius Lane (Jedi Apprentice)

As Kelson announces my presence, I activate my light saber and raise it over my head as if I intended to cut him down from behind, but his reflexes are quick and he turns, activating his own in time to block the swing.
For a moment, we look each other in the eye, blades pressed together, then I withdraw my saber and advance, swinging low this time.
"Ready, Daelon? Or should I take it easy on you?" I inquire.

Finally! Finally Orin shrugs the pack onto the floor of the ship next to where he had set down his case. He sat on his bed for a moment and proceeded to shake the sand from his hair. Hmm, what was that sound? Sounded like...

"Forget the flight checks, start her up! We've got company," the woman shouted.

blaster fire.

Quickly he found his way to the cockpit of the ship to find the Toydarian looking over the captains shoulder as she guided the ship from the bay.

"Did I mention that we needed to hurry," Mogo asked curiously, only a little late.

Orin plopped himself in a chair and belted up. What have you gotten yourself into this time Orin? He watched as the little alien powered the shields and punched some numbers into a computer. Coordinates by Orin's figuring. His stomach lurched as he watched space fast approaching through the window. He was sure they all heard him gulp and he had to force himself not to close his eyes as he sat through his first jump into hyperspace.

Tholin Mod, Sith Warrior

The Toldarian show me to a spartian cabin, & I stow my bag under my bunk. "Thank you for your assistance.. Mongo, isn't it?"
Just then I hear the distinctive sound of blaster fire hitting the ship.
"Mogo, forget the flight checks; start her up. We've got company!"

I move to the cocpit to see two humanoid figures firing on the ship. I notice one pulling what looks to be a thermal detonator out, & I decide enough is enough. Reaching out with the force, I pick both of the toughs up & slam them into the cieling above them, then drop them in a heap. The ship heaves up as we start to move out, & I arm the explosive device as we exit the docking bay.

I don't know who they were working for, but this was their last assignment.

Bailen, Ganor, and Viser

They stood before the open bay door.
"It's a worn ship, but still practically new. We refuged it after the disaster at Endor."
They looked up at the Scorpion IV. A medium sized Corvette ship, that looked like it had been through hell. Ganor sweeped across to the lowered entrance, looking back at Viser.
"It's the best we could find. If you show up in the Jedi's backyard with an Imperial Tie Fighter people might get suspicious. This will eliviate that problem. There's a crew already aboard, so all you need to do is concentrate on finding the Jedi."
Viser folded up the crystal, placing it in his pocket, "Where should I start?"
Bailen was already walking away, Ganor at his heels, "Try the local bartering planets. The crowded the better."
In less than five minutes, the ship was out of the bay, heading off into space.
Ganor looked at it with a faint longing.
"Soon," Bailen said, looking at his apprentice, "Soon."

Daelon

Daelon smiled at Marius, taking a step back just in case. The other student may be able to control the Force better than he, but lightsaber duelling was where Daelon could match the other. Unfortunately, he was tired, and he could feel his concentration waning. He made a spirited attempt to keep it from wavering, blinking some sweat out of his eyes.
"Good to see you, Marius." Daelon said. "Next time you attack me with my back turned, I'll cut you down straight away." he said jokingly.
Marius made a face as if to say, "I dare you to try."
"I see Pinky is still serving you well." Daelon said, a smile playing across his lips. He dodged backwards to avoid a half-attempted swing from the other Jedi apprentice.
"Ok, ok. I'm ready, as always. Your move first." Daelon said, shifting his grip on his lightsaber slightly, his eyes concentrating on Marius' eyes, as he tried to attune his other senses to the movement of the other apprentice's lightsaber.

Marius

Pinky? The sonofa...
I faked a quick attack, knowing my irritation was showing on my face.
"Ok, ok, I'm ready as always," Daelon said. "Your move first."
I took a quick stutter step forward, raising the tip of my saber just enough to touch the tip of his, feeling the pressure of the two touching there. Then I pressed it to one side and lunged, driving the end toward his midsection and spun around as he parried it, coming fully back to my position a few feet to my left in time to block his counterattack, a swipe to my left side.
He attacked first this time, lowering the blade and raising it as though he intended to gut me from below. I parried, sidestepping, but his attack was merely a distraction, and well-staged. As I moved, he withdrew the attack and swung the blade toward where I would be in a few seconds.
Barely catching it until the last second, I stepped quickly backward, managing to still the attack a few seconds before struck (though Daelon may have eased his attack to keep from injuring me). He attacked again, following up appropriately, but I was ready for this one, and parried it downward at to the right, spinning around, rolling my left side against his right and winding up behind him.
I attacked him then, as he hadn't turned entirely around jsut yet, swinging leftward and mid-body...

Ronag

He cocked his head to the side for a moment, looking at the thing. It was dirty, soiled, and didn't even look like it had an engine.
Perfect.
"How much?" Ronag looked over at the seller. A big oath of a man, hair covering most of his body. He looked like a human Wookie cross breed.
"A thousand creds."
He sighed, taking a step closer to the thing. It was a Corellian fighter, he could tell that, a small ship, only three or four people. The blasters didn't look like they would help much, but he wasn't exactly going to use it in battle, just needed transportation.
"I've got 8 hundred on me now. That's all."
The man shrugged his shoulders, "Get it out of here by sunset."
Ronag handed over the payment, and then began looking over the ship.
Much was needed to be done.

Kerra Shiran

Just as the Owl's engines warm up, she feels a tug on the force, that throws off her concentration. Kerra looks up from the instrument panel to see two of the thugs get lifted & slammed into the ceiling. *Damn it, not now.* The engines roar to life & we take off. She guides the craft out of the hanger, minutes before the thermal detonator goes off.

The Owl shoot out into the sky, as the docking bay explodes behind it. "Mogo you got those coordinate for Alderaan from the nav computer yet?" He evades the question. "Did I mention that we needed to hurry?" He mutters something under his breathe that Kerra doesn't catch, as farmboy plopped down in a chair & buckles ups.

Mogo powers up the shields and punches the coordinates from the nav computer into the main. Patrol ships come up behind the ship, Kerra yells into her headset. "Yeah, well I didn't do it, some thugs did. Look someone wants to blow up the docking bay, I am out of there ok." She listens to the reply. "What!! I'm not coming in, for you to impound the Owl."

Closing the communication channel, she hits the throttle & the ship shoot out of the atmosphere. "This is just great. Now I'm on the Mos Eisley patrol wanted for questioning list." She mutters as Kerra flips to switch to jump to hyperspace. An audible glup is heard behind her. "Hey mech, don't lose your dinner back there." Just as the stars wiz by in streaks, the Owl make the jump into hyperspace.

She tosses off the headset & stands looking at the crew. "We got few hours before Alderaan." She points to the greenhorn. "Mech, what is your name anyways?" He studders a reply. "Orin huh? Well you can call me either Captain or Mouse & that goes the same for you Tholin." There is a bit of snickering from the two men. She give each man a glare. "Either of you got a problem with that. If you EARN my trust, I will tell you differently. Got it."

"First thing, Mogo show Orin his work area is. While you are there do a visual check on the hyperdrive again. Have VeeNine store the cartons on that second cart." Kerra looks straight at Tholin. "I want to speak to you privately in my quarters." She moves off & head to her cabin. Entering her quarters, she picked up a deck of sabacc cards. Shuffling them she lays them out in a solitare type format on the desk. As she waits for Tholin to join her.

Daelon

Daelon dived and rolled to the side at the very last moment, narrowly avoiding Marius' lightsaber, which swung just over his head. With one quick movement Daelon was back on his feet, his lightsaber between Marius and himself.
"I can see you've gotten better, Marius. You nearly got me there." he lifted his saber up in front of his face, which contorted with concentration. "But now it's serious." he finished, before lunging at Marius.
Marius deflected the attack with his own saber, and then a second attack from the right. Daelon stumbled forward, but as Marius swung his saber down, Daelon used his momentum to his advantage, diving under Marius' arm just as the lightsaber struck where he had just been. Daelon rolled once more, leaping to his feet and attacking straight away. Marius had to take two steps back, guarding himself from three strikes before dodging a fourth. Darius slowed down for just an instant, but it was too long, and Marius' counter-attack struck Daelon's lightsaber and sent the weapon spinning into the air. It automatically de-activated before thudding harmlessly into the ground behind him.
Daelon allowed himself a smile, despite his loss. "Well done." he said simply, straightening up from his combat pose. "That's 4-4, isn't it? We're even now."

Orin lets out a long breath of relief as he gazes out from the cockpit at the lights streaking past. His hand slips down and releases the safety belt and flings it aside. Slowly he stands and tells the woman his name. He looks at her blankly as she snaps at them about her name, then watches as she stalks off down the corridor. With a glance at Tholin and a shrug as if to say "I dunno", he looks over to Mogo.

"Is she always like that? So bossy, I mean"

"First thing, Mogo show Orin his work area is. While you are there do a visual check on the hyperdrive again. Have VeeNine store the cartons on that second cart." Kerra looks straight at Tholin. "I want to speak to you privately in my quarters." She moves off & heads to her cabin.

I smile to myself. *so, the little one has some fire in her. Thats good, you need fire to survive out here.*
I make my way to her quarters, knock once then enter, pulling my force-signature inward until I have it damped down , hiding my true self. She is sitting before me. sabbac cards being used for their origonal purpose, as a oracle. Looking at the setup, they are in a order for focusing the senses to help read the future, & I'm sure she has done this uncounciously. The Jedi Council are fools for letting her go untrained. Maybe the next idiot Jedi that tries to kill the 'Evil Sith Lord" i'll spare & let him know of her, so she can learn her true potential.
" You wished to see me...... Captain?" I stand looking down at her, not bothering to mask my outward presence, which was formidable before I learned how to harness the force, & its Dark side.

Kerra Shiran

Kerra heard a knock on the door & Tholin enters. It felt to her that he was shrinking into himself. She continues to play out the game. "You wished to see me ... Captain?" He stands before her sort of peering down his nose. "Yes, that trick you pulled in the docking bay, almost cost me my ship. I know you used the Force to do it. Tossing the merc into the ceiling, but what exploded?"

He looks down at the layout of the cards & seems to be read something in them. "They had a custom thermal deonator that would attach to your ship. I merely prevented it from happening & made sure that it was thier last assignment." Kerra lays the last card down & stands. "So that would mean I own you a favor?" She tilts her head to oneside & thinks. "Let's see what would a force user would want ... hmmm ..."

Kerra stands, moves around the desk & stands infront of him. "How's about this for starters." She taps into the force & lets it flow around her like a cocoon. Reaching up she pulls his head down & give him a soulseering kiss. Then she releases her hold on him & the force at the same time.

Tholin Mod, Sith Warrior

Her kissing me suprised me, then it brought back the memories. Anger welled up & before I could stop myself I pushed her back with the force, pinning her to the bulkhead. Then I regained control & released her.
"I am sorry Captian (saying it with respect this time), but I have recently lost someone who was dear to me, & that is something I do not wish to seek. I will be in my quarters. Once again, I apologize. & here is the credits for my berth."
I toss down a cred chip with 3500 credits on it, then turn & go back to my cabin.

When the saber leaves his hand, i'm every bit as surprised as he was. I'd never thought that would work, but somehow...
I switch off my lightsaber.
"4-4" I confirm, looking at him with a solid, emotionless expression, holding back for a few moments, as our eyes meet again. I fought it for a few seconds, then a smile broke, uncontrollable, and I stepped forward, grasping him b the hand and hugging him with the other briefly. When we part, I ask, "How's training? Dumped Kelson on his head yet?"

Mogo

"Is she always like that? SO bossy, I mean?" Orin asks.
I chuckle. "You have no idea."
Moving toward the hyperdrive bay, I wave for him to follow. "Come, I'll show you our...work-in-progress, shall we say?"
We head into the back, down a brief corridor, then I grip a floor panel and lift it, leaving i lay open and heading down a small staircase. The room at the bottom is small, but spacious enough to work in.
"From here, you can access the hyperdrive, the main engine, damn near everything you would need to. The trick here is the hyperdrive. It's greatly outdated, and finding parts is...well, just shyy of impossible. My uncle Watto even has trouble finding them, though I'm guessing it'll be a while before we return to Mos Espa again. Keeping this hunk of junk operational will be...let's say...a challenge and leave it at that."

Raine

As the two apprentices catch up, I turn to Kelson.
"Can i speak wiht you, out of earshot. There's something I've...well, noticed. It's been bothering me for a while now, and I'm..."
I shake my head.
"Have you noticed anything?"

Kelson watches the fight emotionlessly, replaying the tricks he taught his young apprentice and considering Marius' latest achievements. Seemingly, without giving any previous indication of having heard his friend speaking, Kelson nods.

"Good, now, I have a new test for you two. Daelon here is tired, I have been working with him all day with both mind and spirit. The trick is to see how long you can both hold out mentally. When I give the signal, you will lift yourselves up three feet above the ground. Next, I will say 'Proceed' and you will attempt to not only throw one another to the ground, but hold yourselves up. First to touch the ground losses. Daelon, remember that your power does not come from your muscles and you will do fine."

Having said that, Kelson waves his hand, clearing a perfect circle below each apprentice and awaiting the time when they are prepared.

Kerra Shiran

As Kerra steps back, waves of anger driven force hits her. *Can't breathe. His hold is too stong.* Tholin releases his hold on the force & she slumps against the wall. "I am sorry Captain, but I have recently lost someone who was dear to me, & that is something I do not wish to seek. I will be in my quarters. Once again, I apologize. Here is the credits for my berth." He tosses a chip on the desk & heads out the door.

She pushes herself off the bulkhead & plops down in her chair. Looking at the chip & seeing that its for 3500 credits, Kerra debates weather or not to give it back to him. While thinking, she idly shuffles the cards & does another layout. *He is the first one, trained in the ways of the force. That I have met, personally. Just my luck, that his training is in the darkside.* She plays the game out then gathers up the cards & puts them to one side.

She starts again to type in her personal log ... Leaving Mos Eisley & Tatoonie in a hurry. The Owl has aquired two crew members & a droid. I don't know how Mogo got the D-V9 ... but it looks like its in prime condition. I must do a complete check of it's system when there is time. He has also manage to find a mech from that desert planet. His name is Orin & it looks like we are babysitting him through his first trip off planet. She pauses to collect her thoughts before typing some more.

This day has been full of surpises. Not only did someone try to blow-up the Owl ... but I met my first trained force-user. The final member of the crew goes by the name of Tholin. He saved us from a thermal detonator & as the captain I now owe him a debt. His training, unfortunately for me, is in using the darkside. I gave him a kiss of thanks & I almost end up dead. Or at least in great pain if he didn't release me from his power.

The next stop of the tour is the asteroid field of the planet Alderaan. Orin just better not lose his lunch, when we drop back into normal space. I just hope the hyperdrive last til then. We may have to make a stop at Nar Shaddaa to get more parts or to hit the gambling dens there & make some money on the sabacc tables ... She trails off her typing.

I go back to my quarters, angry at myself for losing control. That should have never happened! I have been too long without the company of others. I sit, trying to meditate & calm myself, but it is not helping. I need to burn off some steam. Grabbing my bag, I step out of my quarters & head to the cargo hold. Entering the small hold, I notice it is mostly empty. Must not have had much for trade at her last stop, just those parts the toldarian had picked up. Anyway, the emptiness suited my purpose. I pull out a small chest, & disarming the trap on it I open it & remove 6 training remotes. Setting them on their highest setting, I activate them all & with that they immediately spring into the air & start firing.
Igniting one blade on my saber, I begain blocking the blasts, reflecting them harmlessly onto the walls of the hold. The drones circle me, firing relentlessly, moving faster & faster. I ignite the other blade & go into a battle trance, whirling within the hold, eyes closed, at one with the currents of the force. First one drone falls, cut into 2 smoking bits by my blade, then another. Finally, all 6 drones are on the ground, & I stand with blades bared, breathing heavily, slowly releasing the tension I had felt within myself. I felt more at calm, but needed something else. Removing a small bag, I poured out a handfull of small metal balls, about a centemeter in diamater. Tossing them into the air, I use the Force to hold them up at vaious levels around me. Still in a force trance, I move into action. Blade moving almost faster than the eye can see, I strike out at the metal balls, disintigrating them one by one with precise strikes of my blade, until I hit the last one. Standing in the middle of the cargo hold, brathing heavily, I release my hold on the force, finally feeling a measure of peace within myself.
