Star Wars: The Great War IC

"Sir... we have arrived"

But Skar already knew that. He could feel the force down below him, not far now, coming up to him with spurts and starts of strength. He could feel the pull of training, of eager minds just barely touching at something much much bigger than themselves.

Skar did something he normally did not do, he lowered his defenses. In his mind, Skar took down the shielding of his own mind, walls that kept him in and others out. It was enduring to keep up such a barrier, but well worth it. He had been saved many a times by keeping his own powers held in secret.

A Sith's secrets is all he really has when it comes to true power.

Letting this go he reached down to the planet, touching at those tender young minds. He could feel the horror, the single snap of fear trying to pull away. One child began crying for no reason, while another pulled out his lightsaber, waving it blindly.

One child delighted in his touch though. A brush with power seemed to make him curious rather than frightened.

Skar thought this was useful.

He walked up to the bridge of his ship. The planet came into full view now, full of lush green life. When Skar thought of the core planets, an image of Alderaan usually sprung to mind. It was a planet still simple and youthful, springing with life and abundance. He couldn't help but feel as if this would be a planet he would like to own some day.

"There, "He pointed to a small lake in the southern hemisphere, "Land there."

The ship began its descent. They came down just at the edge of a lake. A large and beautiful forest surrounded this quaint spot, and aside from a few simple cabins it looked as if the entire countryside were untouched by modern hands.

Skar came out of the ship.

Two jedi were waiting for him. They were not masters, which disappointed Skar. They did seem to be the most competent Jedi here on the planet though. So they would have to do.

"You... you do not belong here."

Skar nodded, "Yes. I am here to kill you... but not yet. First you will watch me kill the young ones."

He waved a hand. At once the young men began to waver. One fell to his knees instantly. The other shook his head, reaching for a lightsaber. He held it in shaky hands, unable to turn it on. His nose began to bleed before he too bucked down to the lake's shore.

"That is better," He said, smiling. Skar only touched them. A rather simple trick, much more malicious than any mind trick. He managed to reach into a person's mind and bring out their very fears. No man could fight his own fears for very long.

As Skar passed them he touched their heads, patting them like good little dogs.

"Now... where are the younglings."

But he knew. The two Jedi's minds could not hide where they were, and the children themselves screamed in fear, their minds calling out for help as this monster set out to kill them.

All... except for one.

One youngling who didn't quiver at his very presence. One who thought the idea of such power did not frighten. Skar indeed needed to meet this young jedi apprentice.

All others needed to die.

He walked towards the cabin where they all hid.

"If I were you..." He said softly, "I would start screaming now."

And they did.

The simple lakeside filled with the screams of children long before it filled with blood.

The Force, in all of it's transient beauty called out to Destinus. It lived and breathed, just as he did. It ached for power, and release, just as he did. He plucked at it's strings as he meditated, dancing along visions of the future, gaining perspective on the past. He let his mind flow, let his sensitivity breathe. He was hours from Alderaan, and was more than anxious for a status report. But instead of relying on technology, he could use a more intrusive method.

He let his self escape his body, travelling through space towards a strong concentration of the Force. He searched for familiar force signatures, knowing that a connection from this far out was extremely tricky at best. There, he found one he knew very well. Skar. His beacon shone brightly, brighter then it should have. He was... open.

Destinus circled his presence, feeling Skar's efforts at extinguishing the Jedi, their small presences rippling in the Force. Skar seemed distracted, something else had caught his attention. His inkling of shrewd intelligence bothered Destinus. Skar was calculating, and somewhat of an unknown commodity. Something Destinus liked to avoid in his organization. But Destinus wasn't one to argue with results. Skar was loyal, and brutally efficient. So what was it that caught his attention?

Dante investigated further. He was wary of alerting his compatriot. The last thing he needed was for Skar to dis-trust him. Dante stretched his mind yet further. A youngling, maybe? Something of power? Destinus couldn't quite tell. He pushed further, and found Skar's presence recoil. He had been alerted. Destinus cursed himself silently, drawing back to himself. There was a war to be fought.

Master Varsus arrived in the hangar and listened to Yustice's report. Afterwards, he assembled the gathered Jedi around him and spoke.

"What we will face will surely test your abilities," he told them. "Remember, these are Sith, and they prey on anger and aggression. You must have the utmost calm and purpose to achieve a victory."

As they boarded the transport, he continued. "I will ask you to open your minds to the Jedi next to you. Feel their presence, and connect with them in the Force. If we achieve this melding properly, each of us will know what the other is doing, your fellow Jedi's movements will mirror your own, you will act in concert.

"You will be unbeatable," he concluded.

The transport took off, and after clearance, accelerated into space. Within moments the NavComputer had settled the coordinates for Alderaan. The mottled blue color of hyperspace soon shown outside the viewports.

Gavriel Yustice

He closed his eyes and slowed his breathing, within a matter of minutes he could sense the Force again, he felt it pulse through the Padawans next to him and he felt it flow strongly through Master Varsus. That control would be wonderful to have, but he let that thought slide away and instead allowed the Force to flow through him. He noticed that the other Padawans have shielded their minds and that was curious as he had not, then it occurred to him that maybe they hid away from his influence. A smirk touched his lips, but he stayed as calm as he could.

"The exercise is to open up, now lock yourself in."

This drew various responses from the other padawans, yet their defenses stayed in place and this caused Gavriel to chuckle slightly, it carried through the Force that flowed through him. He opened his eyes and looked at Master Varsus,

"Perhaps it will be wiser for them to do this without me, it seems like my anger might be a bit of a negative influence on the others."
