Stars in your Hand

OOC: Back again, Cats I must say that last post was almost completly unintelligable. Is this another character or is that one of the people with that group?

IC: Daven perused the modest library in Bellatrix, it wasn't the largest one in the world but they were rare enough and most did not open their doors to the general public. Daven liked this library because it was somewhat low profile. He crossed referenced the most recent soul card with books on symbolism and numerology until he was able to determine it's use.

"Interesting, this card is very powerful, it could bless a town's crops and animals with vibrant health. Not what I need right now but it will be useful in the inevitable reconstruction."

Meanwhile at Daven's winter home Kronsis slept under a hearty willow tree where birds would perch on his horns. Rhineard was busy throwing a knife into a wall, imagining it to be Risque's face. Risque was nowhere to be seen.

OOC

I understood it... Cats was playing as Kyle, and he's looking for the girl that the dying soldier told him to find in the beginning. For safekeeping, though, he slipped the key that he was supposed to give the girl under Nani's pillow.

IC

"Huh..."

Yoro sat down quietly.

"Everyone's leaving..."

He bowed his head slightly.

"Master, I feel the darkness of the depths of my soul consume me again... I feel the tides press me..."

He raised his hand and clenched it into a fist, and as his knuckles turned white, a card manifested before him. The image on it was of a great shadow lain upon an ocean, with sparkles of light emerging from the depths.

Yoro gazed at the card softly.

"Master..."

"So, all of your card were stolen?"

"Except for this one, yes."

"Well, thats good!"

Kenji gave the old man a sharp look "Old Man! Are you saying that is a good thing that my cards were stolen?!"

"Kenji my boy, you picked good cards, but they were not for you, you just didn't fuse with their soles, well, except for that card."

"Yeah... I guess so...... But, Kage and I are strong, we can hold out until we find some new cards!"

The old man stood up, and walked into another room, when he returned, he held an set of cards "Kenji, its time I gave this old deck..."

"But Old Man..."

"I trained you, and you exceded the level I thought you would never be better than I, but you did it... I'm an old man Kenji, my time is short in this world, I attended to give this deck to my grand child, since Card mastery skips a generation... I consider you my Grandson, thats why I gave you KaGE, NOW TAKE THIS."

Kenji only nodded, and taken the deck.

***

Kenji walked up the stairs and into the room where Nani laid. "How is she feeling?"

Yoro glanced up at Kenji, surprised, and wiped his face awkwardly with the wide sleeves of his white kimono. His cheeks appeared to be slightly damp.

"She has a bit of a fever," he said softly. "If it gets any worse, I'll use a powerful healing Card I have... but even if I do use it, she'll still need to rest. Nothing can replentish the kind of life force she expended..."

He sighed softly and shook his head. It seemed to be a habit of his.

"My poor sister... I try to set an example for her, but..."

He chuckled dryly.

"Heh... never mind me..." He glanced up at Kenji. "I don't suppose you would keep me and my sister company for a while, though, would you?" He smiled gently. "Me and my sister travel aimlessly... we're merely trying to perfect our art, and trying not to burden the temple that took care of us anymore." He glanced down again. "I myself wish to learn the mysteries of the Soul Cards and what they truly represent..."

"How about you...?"

By their side, Nani slept peacefully, her dark hair splayed around her tanned cheeks and delicate face, her almond-shaped eyes closed. For a girl of sixteen, she was, indeed, beautiful...

<<--->>

OOC

Just for the record, both Yoro and Nani look Japanese in appearance. Both of them have dark, straight hair, and both of them are pretty good-looking.

Also, if we could make it fairly close by, they come from the Kingdom of Water.

OOC: JC understood everything Bunnies. I corected the spelling errors in that post. Oh and I put that key there so one of your charas can find it because Kyle seems to be an untrusting.

The kingdom of water will be the closest land then. It is a group of islands with an under water city as it's capitol.

IC: I entered a pub. The man from the sign post was there. I wondered if he had found out about his phantom city yet. Still that wasn't my concern for now. Unless he talks to me again there is no point in even knowing his name.

I moved to the bartender. 'May I ehlp you?' "I'm looking for some one. Do you know the people of this town?" 'I know them better then most but you must buy a drink before we talk.' This is why the bartenders are friendly they exist to give information to there customers. If drinking wasn't comon place needing info for the wonders was. "A beer then. Now do you know a Sammantha Rhads?" 'I think you'll want something stronger.' "Why?" She's dead? Then what the hell do I do with this key?

'She's been dead for the last ten years or so. Prehaps you would like to see her husband instead. Shortly after her death he went to serve the queen full time. Last I herd she was her top officer.' That bastard! he told me to give it to his dead wife. "Um, thanks then."

Kenji glanced away for an second, "For me... Traveling is an way for me to escape... To escape this city, to escape my old life... When I was an child, I was picked on alot because I was different... I was capable to summun cards without any type of special training... But my card skills were wild... people thought I was an freak, they thought I wanted to harm them. For that I left. For 4 years Kage and I travled, blindly at first, but then I decided to find out who my parents were, why was I left alone to die?"

Kenji sighed and smiled "but thats all in the past now... Although I still hate this city. It would be good for Kage and I to have somebody to travle with..."

OOC

Hey Cats, who did you want to find the key? I was confused by who you were refering to.

IC

A friend...

Yoro glanced up, smiling gently.

"Nani likes your fox..."

He couldn't think of anything to say. How could he explain to this boy how grateful he was for the possibility of an ally...?

"Yes... let's travel together..."

He nodded softly, brushing his hair away from his moon headband.

"Neither my sister nor I had many friends our age at the Temple of Tides back in the Water Kingdom..."

Especially since few could understand me, as an chosen of the Water Lord...

Ah, Kenji, I know how you must have felt...

OOC:

I didn't mean any one in particular. So JC hy either one of you can find it. I did it as a way to tie togeather the plot more thats all.

So I don't waste this post here's more on the globe. I may change things if needed so it's more of a rough draft. It's not to important so feel free to skip it if you want to.

This continet has shadow and light on it. The land here is pretty big and the two kingdoms are joined by a land bridge. The two kingdoms fought for the better part of history. 40 years or so they made a truce and as part of it the rulers married and had two children. They gave the land of shadow to there daughter and theland of light to there son befroe passing on. The son is about 19 and the daughter is about 22.

The closest two other kingdoms are Casmos and water. Each is a seprate land mass. Casmos is a small island chain each island is very unique in it's enviorment. Water is on the other side south west instead of south east. Water's discription is above.

Those two island chains slowly leed to the land of earth the bigest kingdom. They do mostly farming there but have some beutiful mountin ranges. Further south is the land of fire which is a volcanic desert and a very militant goverment is there.

Air is a kingdom on a floating island or rather two floating islands that stay next to each other for some reason. The smallest nation but with amazeing resources and a weathly group of citizens.

Ruko sat down next to the young man, asking for two of the same for both himself and his short travelling companion.
"Doesn't look like good news," He could tell by the look on the man's face. Whatever the bartender had said, hadn't been the answer this man was particularly looking for.
"I don't have much good news either. Seems like no one has found out this city of mine. I was summoned to this country by one of the higher leaders. I don't think it was the king or queen, because it came in the mail. Royalty usually has personal mail carriers or something. I think a big war is planning. They send letters to the biggest and strongest in my village, asking them to come and join an army."
He laid the official notice on the bar counter, taking his own drink and drowning it as he did so. He didn't know why, in particular he was telling this man everything, perhaps the few drinks before, or maybe just a way for the guy to forget his own problems for a few minutes.
"I have no idea what it is for. But I have heard the exploits of this," He checked the name at the end, "Dran character. Very gruesome. He's the kind of guy that you just rather do what he says than to defy him. I'm not sure why they need an army. I thought there was peace throughout the countries. Looks as if peace can be deceiving thoough."
He raised a toast to the man, with a newly freshened drink, "So, what's your story? We never got a chance much to talk, before the interruption. What has lead you to this point?"

OOC: I don't think our characters are in the same town, besides why would they steal a key they know nothing about (there are a lot of doors after all!)? Anyways for the record Daven is from the Kingdom of Air but was schooled in Cosmos. Risque is from a mysterious region in the Shadow kingdom known as the House of Gelt; Rhineard is from a small area called the Thunder Lands which could be anywhere you want to put it; and Kronsis is from a tribe of minotaurs (he was born with wings and is considered to be a holy emissary by his people) that worships the earth and plantlife, as you might see from my posts he is very attuned with the land and its creatures.

"Water kingdom?" Kenji had heard about the Water Kingdom, but he was never sure about it. "Odd, of all my traveling, I had never seen the Water Kingdom. I have heard about it when I viseted the Forest Empire, but now that I have a little more prof of that it exsist..." Kenji was cut short, when the old man walked up and knocked on the door.

"Kenji, before you go to bed, be sure to seal the windows."

Kenji quirked an eye brow, it was rare for the old man to take precautions, it was somewhat against his code to be cautious. "What for?"

"There had been some very visous bandits around these days, stealing cards and killing people that get in their way. I don't want you people to get hurt."

Kenji gave an dry laugh "You grown soft Old Man..."

Kyle

OOC: Oh I wasn't sujesting you take it Bunnies. I'm aware that your chara's are alone, normally that would bug me but you've always been quite good at developing plot as you go so I'm not worried about involveing you in the start because I know your chara's will make on hell of an entrance into the story later.

IC: "Why am I here?" I looked down at my glass one could not be socail in a bar with out a drink. "Another." I gulped down the last bit that was in my mug.

"It's funny you mention Dran." This is none of his buiness but still If I'm going to tell some one maybe it should be him. "I came here because of him." Or rather because of her, she asked me to and thats why I tried. "Dran controls a unit of soldeirs. One unlike any otehr in the world. There all card users drawn to the kingdom of light with dreams of wealth. I tried to join his hunters but didn't make it in." The truth is I could care less about wealth or power I simply wanted to be near her, being around him was just somethign added to it.

"Where I grew up I knew a.... beautiful..." I gaurd had a white fist on his armor. The battle was over the kingdom of light had won and now they were hear. "I think it's best we talk some were else."

Ruko felt there was more. A sense of his speech, almost as if he tried to hold things back. Maybe in fear of their opinion? The people here didn't seem particularly political, but Ruko knew all too well of a loose tongue in a bar. One opinion uttered too loud, and swords came out.
"I'll take a bottle," he settled the bill, dropping a handful of coins across the counter.
"Come," He said, the bottle in tow. Always a bit of incentive to get drunk and bond. It was a guy thing, an old ritual no one knew quite why it happened, but it did. Two men could be at each other's throat, on the verge of death, but a few drinks and a long talk later, they would be blood brothers for life.
He walked out into the open air, seeing that twilight had now fallen over the small village. His eyesight was limited, and he hadn't been here since today, so his knowledge of the place already dwindled.
"Where do you suggest we go?"

Kenji stood up and walked over to the window shuting and locking it. He then turned back to Yoro, "So, how exactly long you and Nani have been travling now? And what did you do to those bandits to be so pissed off?"

Kyle

IC: "I want to go by the card Shrine. DO you mind?" I didn't here an answer and continued walking towards the shrine. He didn't say much of anything but stayed with me until we got there.

Once we were there I pulled out my Jaged Cetus card and placed it in a small woden chest on a stone pillar that had moon light fall on it from a hole in the ceiling. I simply shut the lid.

"I saw a gaurd back there. The army of light must of won. I guess it is to be expected with Daln leading the group." Should I tell him of the key? "That had me nerves. An officer in the woods gave me something you see." I opened the lid and pulled out the same exact card. "Not enough experince yet. The person I'm supose to give the key to is dead and has been for some time. Looks like I'm cought in the middle."

'Oh so you have it then Kyle? Dran will be quite mad at you then.' "Robert!" 'Yes Dran put me in charge of the soldeirs here. So if you'd give us the key I'd be happy to leave you alone.' Crap Robert isn't any run of the mill card user he is strong, and he's beaten me once before.

Daven left the library after replacing the books on the shelves, as he stepped onto the cobblestone road he snapped his head towards a shadow filled alleyway, "Risque, I asked you to stay at the house with the others. If I needed a bodyguard I would have asked for Kronsis to accompany me."

The shadows faded and the lithe form of Risque walked out and sort of "floated" towards Daven.

"Ik maak me zorgen voor u mijn liefde, je werk zo belangrijk zijn en er zijn degenen die je overlijden zelfs nu zoeken. Ik kan niet hulp het."

Daven lowered his head and smiled, it was the first in a long time.
"I'm sorry, I have been sort of rough with the three of you lately. Is there anything I can do to mend your feelings? I do appreciate all of what you have done for me, the sacrifices you have made."

Daven coughed nervously, "Uhhmmm...Yes of course. I'll see what I can do. Lets go back to the house."

EDIT: A partial repeat? Very odd. I didn't invent the language, Risque is speaking Dutch.

Kyle

OOC: Bunies I must say !?!?!?!? at your last post. Um do you actully have a language figured out or something?

IC: I thought for a minute about my options. "Prehaps I will give it to you." With no reward I have no reason to keep it. "But what is it a key to and why does the King want it?" Hmm I will most likely end up fighting him but still I should ask questiosn first. The fight is two on one how tuogh could he be?

I thought back to our last fight. I had thrown a single fireball and he had me beat already. Okay so fighting isn't the best option.

Ruko on instinct took out his sword, unsheathing it from his back, and holding it with both hands as he stood in a defensive position. Unsure what might come of all this, but ready to go just the same.
A key? Seems strange all of this for just a single key, but he was no fool. Not everything is what it seems. They were both magic cards users, the key might be of magic as well, opening something of importance.
Straying for questions. He wouldn't go into a fight blindly, just hacking and slashing at all that moved. An experienced warrior waited at bay, to see just what his strength's and weaknesses were. With a few good blows, he could take the man down, but the man had cards.
Cards weren't good at all. Monsters, protection, arrows, anything could appear and get in his way as he came in for an attack. He stayed off to the side of Kyle, waiting. With a two person attack, both of them using cards, he could advance on the man... Robert, without much distraction.
His eyes were steady and cold on the villan.
All of this for a key.

Kyle

IC: 'I'm not at librety to tell you. I'll give you an hour to get the key and meet back here.' Robert turned his back not answering the keys purpose but if this is the way he is going to treat me I won't give it to him. 'And just to make sure I'll send my assitant with you.' "Assitant?"

I turned back around and tehre was a figure there a slender person wearing an all black outfit, the exception being a grey mark of the hunters. Crap another card user.

"Lets get going then." I took a few steps towards the exit. 'I will be waiting here. Don't disapoint me or Dran again.' I don't care for either of them, she's the onyl one I ever cared about.

Daven and Risque returned to the house only to hear what could only be an arguement between Rhineard and Kronsis, the two were stompping around the manor's courtyard and gardens. Rhineard was leaping over hedges and garden benches to avoid the minotaur, throwing rocks at him.

"Get the hell away from me you stupid git! I'll hand your arse to you I will!"

"Unworthy scum! I'll stomp you into paste!"

Daven sighed and looked at Risque, the Geltlander assassin smiled a familiar razor smile and rushed foward so quickly that Daven's eyes couldn't keep up. The assassin grabbed Rhineard in a Full Nelson, then plowed the warrior face first into the soft sod of the garden, uprooting a lovely display of begonias.

Daven simply stepped into the minotaur's path and looked into his eyes, "You will stop this at once."

The minotaur skidded in his tracks and clopped to a complete stop right in front of the master card sorcerer.

"What was this about?"

Rhineard got up, dusting the dirt off of him and shooting Risque a fowl look, "News came in from out of town, it's that guy Dran and his hunters..."

"Rhineard suggested that we should find him and form an alliance with him."

Daven shook his head and put a gloved finger on the bridge of his nose, "No his goals and means are an anathema to our own, incompatible. At best we can hope to stay out of each other's way. He should know well enough to stay away from here, if he thinks he can steal my Soul card or any of those I have borrowed, I'll crush him and his hunters! Until then, it matters not."

The two nodded and walked inside the house, leaving Risque who simply leaned against a wall. Daven ducked a hand into his pocket and retrieved a rather weak card, useful only as a utility, Réparer la maison cassée. The gardens were repaired and restored. Daven then walked inside, followed by his companion.

OOC: By the way, Daven's cards are named in Latin, French, and other languages so if you are curious as to their translations just ask.

OOC: I was just going through some old threads and saw this one, I remember that this had the makings of a great story. That it died amazes me, unlike some others this one did not die because of my volitile and offensive nature. Anyone interested in picking this up?
