Start of the X-Men (IC)

Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler

I walk into the room and sit on the bed

"Vell, yes, but I don't know much about zem..." closes eyes thinking back "I vas found in the bavarian alps my father Eric vas dead from a heart attack nearby and my birth mother died protecting me. Zat is all I know about zem. Vhy do you ask?"

That's when it hit me. The woman in the firm couldn't be his mother. Perhaps she was too stereotypical when it came to blue mutants. It was silly of her to think that they were related.

"Nothing. I just thought..." I didn't say anything else. "Never mind, it's nothing."

I was sure that woman was going to haunt my dreams. She had looked so much like the lady at the desk and then she phased back into her true mutant form. I was sure she had a name, but I couldn't remember what she mouthed to me.

I'd ask one of the professors about it later. I looked at him for a moment my blue eyes looking icier with the light.

"I want to show you something, but while I'm doing this don't touch me okay?" I made sure that was clear, before taking on my diamond form.

My skin began to change and become translucent and glimmered nicely in the light. As soon as it was finished I gave him a few seconds to look before changing back.

"I'm indestructable in that form, but something can break me. I'm just not sure what yet."

Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler

Slightly confused about her reaction I let it pass.

"Ok" I say as she starts to change.

"Vell the answer is simple, you just say you are indestructible, and noone would ever find out, the last thing you vant is people experimenting with your body, specially if they are trying to discover how to break you"

I laughed. That was simple enough, but there were still precautions I needed to take.

"Right that is true, but people still try and break you. I mean think about people who are just dumb. They know they can get killed by trying to run at a guy with a gun and they still do it." I put my hand over his.

"I used to think I was the only one. When I was just hitting my teenage years and got my powers. I didn't develop the diamond thing until a while ago. Professor Xavier says I'm a constanty evolving mutant." I sighed it was nice to have a friend to talk to.

"What do you think gambit does?" I asked in curiousity.

'Ahh, and you must be the Jubilation Lee that Moira sent over, though, judging from your anger, it must have being a move you didn't want.'

Jubilation felt a wave of indignation roll through her, 'How dare he! Just assume my feelings like that. Though he is right, almost like he can read minds.' As she started to think she slowly entered the mansion with her oversized bag slung over her shoulder. the small girl wandered around the main hall slowly following the blue mutant and his little blonde friend from afar. Looking around the ancient feeling mansion and just following the sound around her in a daze. This wasn't home, this was some stupid house in New York that she was forced to live in for her 'saftey' yeah right, if they only knew.

Eventually Jubilation reached a vacant room and let herself in. The room was fair sized with a bed in the corner and a desk and a few cabinets situated in various areas of the room. other than that the room was bae with the exception of some wallpaper lining the room attempting to make it feel homey. The browneyed girl dropped her bags on he floor and fell face first onto the bed not wanting to move. homesickness was already starting to settle in. All in all Jubilation was ready to leave once she walked into the door

"Right that is true, but people still try and break you. I mean think about people who are just dumb. They know they can get killed by trying to run at a guy with a gun and they still do it."

I squeeze her hand in mine. “Still if a few give up it’s worth to try, besides it sounds cooler to say I'm inze inze… indestructible, zan I'm almost indestructible… if you say it right ze first time zat is”

"I used to think I was the only one. When I was just hitting my teenage years and got my powers. I didn't develop the diamond thing until a while ago. Professor Xavier says I'm a constanty evolving mutant."

“I’m still accepting I’m not ze only one, I thought nobody would understand what I live through but after meeting Beast I can’t really say zat again.”

"What do you think gambit does?"

“I should know not to judge from appearences, but my guess is zat he emits red laser beams from his eyes… vhat do you zink ze girls do?”

As I ask this I see the younger one in the hall, as I’m about to call her when I see her gloom disposition leading her into the room. Deciding she doesn’t look like she would want to talk I stay where I am, caressing Emma’s hand softly.

Beast simply gazed from Gambit to Charles to Ororo, then sat down.

'Please tell me there are no others....I don't think i could deal with more like here.'

Charles laughed, 'I'm expecting two more for now, but i'm quite sure neither of them are anything like Jubilation. Anyway, she's only angry cos of the move, she wants to be independent, she wants to wish her life away.'

'Sounds like old Remy, should go talk to her, eh mon amis,' Laughed the red eyed rogue, 'you know, like one rebel to another.' Before anyone could answer, he had already left making his way up the stairs.

Beast was about to say something when a phone began to ring, in the professor's room.

'I better get that, if you'll excuse me, Ororo, it is nice to see you again,' And with that he turned, and rolled into his room.

Left alone, Hank turned towards Ororo and smiled, 'Soo....'

For one he wished he was wearing more clothes...

Emma Frost "White Queen"

I shrugged. "I'm not the risk taker anymore. I was the bad guy...err girl once and I just don't like the feeling. I took risks twenty four seven and I ended up in a place that I just wasn't happy in. Here it seems like I can't end up anywhere bad."

A small smile crossed my lips as I thought about beast. The large bear of a mutant who wore swimming trunks. I couldn't hep, but chuckle softly. Though he seemed like the perfect person to go to if you were stuck in a rut. The philosopher type.

"I guess that's how we all feel..." My voice was interupted by someone falling against the bed in the other room. "It's Jubilation. Her thoughts are so....she doesn't want to be here point blank. Maybe I should go talk to her?"

It was just a thought. Perhaps I could help her to understand these people were just here to help us. I thought that maybe my Hellfire past could get me through to her. My thoughts were interupted with Kurt's guess about Gambit's powers. I had to a supress a smile from crossing my lips.

"I don't think so. His eyes are just..." I sighed and then chuckled at my girl-ishness. "With a name like gambit you'd think of something else. Gambit means stratagem, or an opening move in chess to sacrifice a pawn to gain strategical advantage. Perhaps there's more to his appearance then we are seeing. I'm assuming there's a mastermind behind those gorgeous..."

I found myself tilting my head with a dazed expression crossing my face. "Oh sorry I meant physical appearance."

I thought for a moment that was interesting what did the girls do? "Ororo I can't possibly guess. I only know it's probably unique. She's so pretty though and then there's Jubilation. You can tell most mutants by their name what they do or how they act. For instance Beast, his powers regard strength and his massive body. I've already explained Gambit, mine don't tell much. If I knew your nickname then I'd probably be able to tell you a lot. Jubilation stands for rejoicing and celebration. Therefore her powers have to do with something like that. I wouldn't know what though."

I slowly stood up gently tugging my hand away from Kurt.

"I hate to break this conversation, but I need a few more friends and Jubilation seems like someone I'd like to talk to." I walked out of the room peering in rooms until I found her.

"Jubilation?" I say coming closer to her as I sit on the edge of her bed and pat her on the back.

"I know you probably don't want me here, but I want to talk to you. I need a friend besides Kurt, Beast, Professor, Gambit and Ororo. I need a friend like you, who understands where I've been." I looked at her for a while hoping to have catched her attention

"If you don't want to talk to me now that's okay, I'll always be here for you. Even if something else is on my mind you can always talk to me. Or if you don't want to talk just think it and I'll read your mind." I chuckled a little trying to lighten my serious tone.

"You know I didn't want to come here." I said pushing probably one thing that would get her attention. "I hated the professor because he got me here using a past that I so deeply regret."

I looked up a little from her figure. "You have to understand that I was a bad person. That my past holds so many skeletons and that I was a rebel. I was a bad kid. It got worse when I became the White Queen of Hellfire club. After all that I wanted nothing more to do with this place. I came anyway, because I already knew these people could help me."

I put my hands in my lap. Staying silent for a moment hoping that I hadn't bored her to death.

"Even though they might not understand how it feels to be a rebel or how it feels to be the bad guy. They're still reaching out and I know it can get annoying and you just don't want them to help." I paused. "But they mean good. Of course I can totally agree with you. You were forced to come here, but think about it. This place is a mansion. You get everything you want handed to you on a platter and all you have to do is learn."

I smiled. "Sounds like an easy life to me. Plus there are still people here that are nice. I mean take a look at beast. He seems like a good figure to be a good friend. Gambit well he's charming to say the least and ideal for a good laugh. Ororo she has a sense of wisdom to her and seems like the perfect sister figure. Professor X. Despite his mind reading, he seems like someone that could offer you knowledge when the whole world comes crashing down. Kurt he's friendly and he understands what it feels like to have these powers. He's good to talk to believe me. As for myself. I can't say much. I can only say that I'm loyal. That I'll always be here for you."

I pushed my bangs back. "Okay enough with all that. So Jubilation your name means celebration or rejoicing. Do your powers have anything to do with fire?"

I was curious enough and I wanted to bring out the happier Jubilation. The girl that existed before she stepped foot in Xavier Mansion.

Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler

"Oh sorry I meant physical appearance."

At almost the same time as she did, I drew my hand away from hers, I wondered if for different reasons.

"I hate to break this conversation, but I need a few more friends and Jubilation seems like someone I'd like to talk to."

“I need to talk to someone as vell, talk to you later” I watch her leave the room. and then teleport downstairs.

BAMPF!

I see Beast and Ororo. “Excuse me, vhere can I find Profesor Xavier?”

Gambit paused suddenly, He had being about to knock on Jubilation's door but found Emma already in the room with her.

'Oh Sorry, young madames, i was only wondering if dear old Gambit could help Jubilation here in any way? I Apologise for intruding...'

****************

Beast regained his composure quickly as he noticed Kurt had teleported to them.

'Oh, Kurt, Unfortunatly the Professor is taking an urgent call at the moment, but is there anyway I could help?'

I smiled as he ushered his apologies. I looked back at Jubilation and decided if I couldn't get through to her maybe he would be able to.

"Well Gambit I've already told Jubilation that this place is merely a haven for those who need a second chance and for those who are shunned by the cruel world around them." I sighed.

"I spoke to her about my scandalous past at Hellfire club and that rebels like myself at first don't accept gifts like this, but that in time if she needs someone I'll be here." I couldn't help, but stare at him.

There was something that was just so....I couldn't even find a word for it. I sat completely still captivated by those eyes. Who was I kidding? What would Remy see in a girl like me?

"Well if you'd like to talk to her be my guest, I'll leave if need be." My voice was slightly unsteady as I felt my heart skip a beat.

I Bampfed once more closer to the duo.

"Vell, so far I have only talked to Emma, so I don't know much about vhat ze other arrivals know, but her at least seems to know far more about zis place zan I do" scratches head "I need some kind of explaining, what are we supposed to be doing at zis place... she spoke about..."

thinking Emma might not want her "secret" to be known, if her questionable past was a secret that is, and hoping neither Ororo or Hank are reading my mind I continue

"being good, and I don't zink she meant being a support center for other mutants, vhat is it zat is really done here?"

"Also, you mentioned zat vhat vas here veren't exactly classes, I thought I vas sent here to study... am I expected to go outside?" I ask a lil concerned

Beast Smiled and gave a grin.

'Kurt, most of your question's will be answered when the Professor talks to us all before dinner.'

He paused, then, remembering something, reached into the pocket of his shorts, and pulled out a watch and offered it to Kurt.

'Hey while i remember, here's an image inducer, you just put it on, and toggle this button here, and viola you look like a normal human.'

He then showed his own watch and flicked the switch, changing instantaneously from his usual blue hair appearance to a rather handsome 29 year old man....who looked completely human.

Another flick later, and the blue man was back.

'Yeah, the professor said you may want one, helps you go out in public without people thinking you're a demon.'

"Zen at least I vas right on who to ask... Ven do we eat?"

"Vat!?" I say very excited, I grab it put it on and bampf next to the closest mirror. I put the inducer on and press the button.

Turning into a normal human teen.

"Zis is amazing! Does it ran out of batteries?" I ask as I inspect my new look

'The Batteries last 240 hours' Laughed Beast, 'Which is 10 Days, if you want, why don't you do what i do and charge it up every so often.'

"I vill, also" turns it off "I von't be using it all the time, I'm finally in a place vhere noone looks at me funny for being blue. Or having a tail, or weird hands and feet, or having yellow eyes... or"

BAMPF!

Appears close again "we'll ok, that keeps shocking people"

"Zanks for the inducer"

Havok

His feet pounding against the gravel, Alex Summers shut out everything but his breathing and the burning sensation in his muscles as he pushed himself harder and faster. He wanted the pain, even welcomed it. Pain reminded him he was alive. What else was he supposed to do? Waltz around the school, passing out handshakes and fake smiles. He wasn’t in the mood. He wanted to start training. Start developing his skills. His powers astounded him and he wanted more. Unfortunately all that seemed to be on a stand still.

The concept of this school while good was weird. The teachers tried to be hip…which was at least better than them being coke bottle glasses wearing no-it-alls but still…weird. So far no students had particular piqued his interest. Other than a blue, devil, white haired dark skinned woman, a blonde cute as hell babe and furry beast. Again. Weird. He’d missed the professor all morning but would make a note of visiting him either later on tomorrow.

Despite the cool temperatures and the bite of the wind, sweat leaked from every pore. Still he ran on, his lungs near bursting, but his attempts to turn off his boredom failed.

He'd chosen the path along the school grounds because no one would bother him here. But once more boredom was rearing it’s ugly head and not even a run and the burning assaulting his legs was enough to drown it out. So he worked his way back toward the school. Passing the main gate and those that occupied it.

Catching a glimpse of that blonde mutant one of the teachers here and…whomever else was inside of the room, Alex decided he’d mingle with the new people. “Just a bit curious. What exactly do we mutants get to do around here to occupy ourselves? And I don’t believe we’ve all been formally introduced. I’m Alexander Summers. I prefer being called Alex. I’d shake your hands but…sweat…” And he was sweating, right through the white wife beater. Instead he simply hooked his thumbs through the loops of his faded blue jeans.

jubilation heard the talking and debated what to say. She didn't know this Emma girl so what would she say? Quietly turning over she saw Emma turned away looking at Gambit. Words couldn't describe how captivating he looked at the moment to Jubilation. Slowly she pulled herself up," Emma...you can stay. So, um, what did you want Gambit?"

Sliver of Silver

After the long flight and during the lengthy wait at the baggage claim Joseph smirks to himself thinking back on the days actions.
Not being able to wear his metal 'body suit' on the plane due to some airline security restrictions (what a fiasco that had been). He eventually added the metal to the outside of his checked luggage container, layering over piece by piece.
Lifting it off the convayer with the aid of his mind, his smile widens as he imagined the first guy who tried to lift this alone. Noticing each fresh dent and mar on the metal surface as if it was his own skin, our intrepid hero hails himself a cab and checks the address written on a manilla folder from his trunk.
(*I have always wanted to say that 'intrepid hero' bit!)

At the end of a long and winding road I step, itching, out of the cab in front of a welcoming wrought iron gate. I pay the man a handful of money from the folder Logan gave me. the cabbie leaves as soon as my trunk is out of his car, even before I close the door. Curiously I glance over my shoulder and close it for him.
I waste no time donning my 'armor'. With a lift of my hand, I call it off of the box like an old friend. Coaxing every last piece onto the right position on my body.
When I feel secure again I stride down the drive to the awaiting mansion and the -Professor Xavier that Logan told me to find.

Through the encroaching gloom of the early evening any who might happen to glance outside see a silver figure steadily walking down the center of the drive.
Upon closer inspection this man is made of metal!
no, not made of it, but at least covered in the stuff with silver/grey shoulder length hair and bright blue eyes
Vaguely reminiscent of a knight from old.
Behind him is trailing a medium sized wooden trunk.. lazily floating in the air, framed with metal.
As he steps up onto the porch supporting the wide double doors he hears voices on the other side...
After a brief pause he knocks softly with one metal clad knuckle.

My eyes were still fixated on Gambit's. Though his words meant nothing to her earlier, beautiful falling just short of flattery, in my own silent way I appreciated him. I wasn't sure exactly why I was attracted it was just a first glance thing. Another student I was assuming stepped into the picture. Then Jubilation had finally spoken. I had to debate on what to do then. My brain was at a slow and I had to reconnect to the outside world.

I instead looked at Alex and returned my gaze to Jubilation.

"Well then I'm pleased." I smiled and then turned back to the two gentlemen at the door.

"Pleasure to meet you Alex, I'm Emma. I too would shake your hand, but again the sweat." A soft chuckled parted the luscious cerise that were my lips.

"I'm assuming that someone downstairs had suggested that Gambit over here should talk to you. Considering..." Rudely though in good will I dipped into Beast's thoughts skimming over what Beast or the Professor had recently said and continued my short sentece. "They assumed you'd listen to another Rebel, but I guess another Rebel beat him to it."

"Remind me when I see Hank that I apologize for the whole mind reading thing." I folded my hands in my laps and smiled quaintly at the two gentlemen before returning my gaze to Jubilation. Already I had grown quite fond of her.

Jubulation felt annoyance creeping over her as 'Alex' walked into the room, her room. Taking a couple deep breaths to try and conquer the annoyance, Jubulation got off the bed and started to make her hands busy to make some sort of distraction to keep her calm. She couldnt explain why but she was getting agitated with Alex in the room.

I noticed the change in Jubilations breathing and figured this wasn't exactly social hour. So I slowly got up and gave both the gentlemen quaint smiles. The second my hand made contact with Gambit's chest I felt a surge of electricity go through me. I had to surpress the small girlish smile that was crossing my face as I pushed the too gentlemen out the door.

"Well I apologize gentlemen, but there are times when girls speak about women like things and men can't exactly be present." I shut the door slowly and locked it. I sighed and turned to Jubilation.

"So are we friends now? Or am I going ahead of myself?" I stood in front of the door my petite figure still leaning on it's wood frame.

I sighed wondering if anyone could tell. My feelings were sometimes a bit obvious, but I still needed a girl friend or two to talk about things.

"Jubilee right? When I was skimming through beast's thoughts I heard something the professor was reading. Might have been what moira sent him. Oh and if you're wondering about my random mind reading, I don't do it unless I really need to. Or I'm curious."

I smiled and sat down on the bed again. "Is it obvious?"

I asked her wondering if she could tell. I wouldn't tell her what it was just yet, I'd just have to check if she could tell I fancied Gambit. Perhaps there were more mutants on the way that I could flirt with, who really ever knew.

Jubilee smiled at her nickname, "I haven't heard that name in a while... I thought that Moria was the only one who called me that." She said softly while plopping down onto the bed again, "Thanks for clearing the guys out....it was just stuffy in here you know?" Jubilee stopped on that point and thought about the rest of the comments Emma made. friend? Jubilee didn't know what to say to that, i mean Frost was definitly a honest person as far as she could tell but she barley new the blonde girl. "Mind reading? so you more or less know everything i'm thinking about? Don't take this the wrong way but thats scary knowing that i have no private thoughts. But i don't think you'll use it against me. I trust you enough."

Jubilee turned toward Emma and got a small smile on her face, "Wanna watch some fireworks?"

I shrugged.

"I know I'll be seeing them around later." I couldn't help, but smile at the thought.

"Well if I wanted to I could sit here and listen to what the boys were thinking or what you're thinking right now. I could even probably see what the others were seeing, but one I'm not a pervert and two it's an on and off thing. I can single out one certain person or I can just shut it out all together. Some people can actually block me out, but usually I can get around it. Like some people think of brick walls or calm oceans. It takes a whlie, but I can get them to crack. Besides that you're safe."

For a second I wasn't really sure what she meant by fireworks, but then she realized what Jubilee was talking about. The girl could make fireworks.

"You serious." I smiled in excitement. "Sure I love fireworks..."

I waited and smiled for the mere fact I was right. Jubilation meaning celebration or rejoicing. Fireworks linked right back to her name.

Havok

“So…that’s what rejection feels like….interesting.” Alex smirked. Why were women so hard to deal with? You could tell them they were the most beautiful thing in the world, and in the next morning, they'd get pissed off he wasn't there anymore. And the other girl…once he was able to get a proper peak inside. She must have had a sulk plastered on her face and it was obvious his arrival was anything but appreciated. If anything…he could have sworn he made her word worse somehow. And the though made his stomach tighten with tension. If anything he wanted to make her feel better. This was going to wrack his brain all day now. Despite the mad urge to make that unhappy girl smile. It was apparent his or should he say “their” presence was no longer welcome.

Alex wondered if this pretty blonde knew how obvious t was she had a thing for Gambit. Women loved the type. Tall hark and…he supposed handsome. He wasn’t exactly an expert when it came to the male anatomy and their worth. Probably because he didn’t care. And was actually a tad jealous of the attention the man was getting. He didn’t sweat it. You win some you lose some. Besides wouldn’t a teacher/student tango land them in hot water? Perhaps that was the thrill. Still her hands did linger on the mans chest a little too long. Alex’s smirk grew and as he turned.

“Well teach, I’ll see you around.” With that Alex walked away. There had to be a cafeteria around here somewhere.
