Hey, loving what I'm seeing in this thread so far, if there's room for another I'd love to join in, if not that's cool, I look forward to seeing what come out of this thread either way.

Can't say personally if HC put a limit on how many he wanted. But I can vouch for KoD. As long as he is around to post. :p

Name: Gideon Theobold Wolfheart III
Alias: Doc, The Mafwat Murderer, The Tazequina Torcher
Rank: Doctor
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Height: 5'11
Weight: 140
Hair Color: Dark blue, when wet nearly black
Eye Color: Golden brown

Physical Description: Large golden ring in his left ear. Scars from ropes around his wrists and neck that aren't visible when wearing a shirt. His back has about a dozen scars across it from a whip.

Visual Description: Gideon has a very slender (but still toned) body that combined with his pretty face and long blue hair makes a lot of people accidentally think he's a woman. It's not something that bothers him though, in fact he loves his pretty looks as the girls seems to like it.

Picture

Sexuality: Heterosexual

Religious: Yes, he believes in the three gods and sees himself in a constant struggle with the Mother as he believes that it's she who brings the dead to The Other Side, making her his adversary as he tries to save lives and keep them from going there. With that said he can't in any way be considered spiritual.

Personality: Gideon is first and foremost a very polite man which isn't that strange since he grew up a noble. Despite not having lived that life for three years he still considers manners very important and still speaks in a way that makes many people believe he's either a noble or stuck-up, or both. Fact is that while he sometimes may ask someone to mind their language, he doesn't really look down on anyone. He did when he was younger, thats for sure, but with parents constantly telling him that the commoners were riffraff it's not strange that he believed that. Now realizing that not everyone had the same upbringing as him he has become a much more tolerable person that accepts people for who they are, no matter where they stand on the social ladder.

Despite caring so much about manners he's very different when performing surgery. If it's a critical situation he often curses regularly, at both the Three Gods and the patient he's working on if they become too loud or move around too much.

He's very much an outgoing person, loving to have long conversations about most things but can also enjoy spending time with someone in complete silence just looking at the sky or the ocean.

Superstition: He does not believe in herbal medicine, believing that they are utter hogwash.

Often breaks down and cries if he loses a patient during surgery, loudly cursing at The Mother.

He does not allow himself to be alone in a room with another man unless he's armed or he knows how to make a quick exit. He also never walks in front of a man, at least not deliberately or if he trusts the man in question. His distrust of other men is so big that even a friendly pat on the shoulder will make him smack the hand away and scream at the person not to touch him.

Can sometimes be heard arguing with someone that isn't there, someone he refers to as Tayen.

The ring in his ear is sacred to him as it was a gift from his wife. If anyone for some reason were to try and steal it he might very well kill them.

Likes: Wine, drawing, looking at the stars, swimming, dancing

Dislikes: Braggarts, rapists, The Mother, people praising The Mother

Character Ons: Strong women, toned bodies, exotic features, group sex, rough sex, tattoos, oral (both giving and receiving), sucking on nipples

Character Offs: Overly submissive women, blood, piss, shit

Background: Being born into the famed Wolfheart clan was probably one of the best ways one could start their life. Gideon had such luck, becoming the first (and only) child of Lucifer and Mathilda Wolfheart. Their riches were immense and Gideon could've easily just lived the rest of his life from the money he was born into. But as it turned out he was a curious child, always greedy for more knowledge, especially about how the body works. After receiving a book about it on his ninth birthday, one that he read cover to cover four times within a month, he was more or less destined to become a doctor. It also helped that his family was powerful and could easily get him a good teacher that would come to their luxurious mansion and teach him.

He lived a very sheltered life when growing up, his parents not wanting him to even leave the estate. Not that he lacked in things to do, they even had a pool that he spent a lot of time swimming in and constantly pushing himself to hold his breath longer underwater. It wasn't until he was fourteen that he was starting to get really curious about the life outside those gates, wondering what life was like down the hill. He asked his parents if he could go down there, but they absolutely forbade it and told him to never bring it up again. Even so he sneaked out that very night, managing to get past the guards and set off down the road to take in the city he grew up in but had never experienced. His excitement died quickly though when he came across a bunch of drunk commoners outside a bar that started hurling insults at him. Frightened by the experience he returned home and woved to never leave the estate again. Even so he continued to sneak out almost every night, going to the edge of the city and just looking at the people there from a safe distance.

As for his education it went extremely well, he learned quickly and at the age of eighteen he performed his first surgery which was an utter success. Word quickly spread among the other nobles and suddenly Gideon was in high demand, in more ways than one. His parents realized that it was time for their son to start socializing with women and started hosting a lot of social events for the other nobles who brought their sons and daughters, the daughters lining up hoping to be able to claim the young doctor as their husband. While first being very uncomfortable with all the attention Gideon quickly found something positive from it all: sex. The young women so desperately wanted to make Gideon theirs (or there parents were really pushing them) that they were willing to do almost anything to make him wed them. Using that to his advantage he always managed to lure at least one of them away from the festivities, taking them to his room where they made love. Though the 'love' part was questionable. Gideon always had his fun but constantly told his mother and father that none of the girls he'd met were right for him, making them throw even more events. After nearly two years of this, when Gideon had reached the age of twenty, he was bored by it all. The parties were always the same and he was even starting to get bored by the sex. He even started to question if this was it, was this all life was? It didn't get any more fun than this? If so, what was the point?

That's when he met Qo'Vell, the families new servant. Two years younger than Gideon, but she seemed so much more mature. She also was beautiful, with dark skin, long black hair put into dreadlocks, emerald-green eyes, a kind and beautiful smile, and a big but firm bosom that went well with her toned body which she had gotten from doing hard work from a young age. Gideon barely talked to her at first, she was a commoner after all, but after a few weeks he found himself seeking her out just to talk to her. The two had long and lively conversations, sharing laughs and deep secrets. One day he confessed that he had actually never been into town except that one time when he was fourteen, which made Qo'Vell give him a sly smile and told him that she would come over to his room that night. She did, and brought with her some clothes that obviously didn't belong to a nobleman but maybe to someone with a decent social status. The two sneaked out and went to the town where Qo'Vell introduced him to a whole new world, both figuratively and literally. A Whole New World was a bar filled with laughter, music and dancing, something the two did for hours, along with talking and drinking wine. It was the most fun Gideon had ever had and he couldn't imagine any way to make this night even better, but boy was he wrong.

It was late when the two returned home, sneaking in again and ending up in Gideon's room. He felt something for her that he hadn't felt for any of the other girls that he had bedded, and it made him nervous. More than anything he wanted to ask her to stay instead of returning to the servant's chambers, but he couldn't work up the courage. That's when Qo'Vell made a fist in his hair and kissed him roughly. Gideon hadn't expected it and was shocked at first, but soon realized that he loved the way she took charge. Even when they ended up in bed and he tried to climb on top of her she grabbed his wrists and rolled him over on his back, declaring that tonight she was in charge. Gideon had never been with a girl that took charge that way and it ended up being one of the best nights of his life. The two fell in love (or, more like, they already were) and knew they had to keep the realationship a secret. So they did, and for a year it all worked wonderfully, the two spending their nights either out on the town dancing or making love in his room.

Unfortunately they were caught one morning when his mother entered his room and to her horror saw Gideon and Qo'Vell sleeping in each other's arms. They had always been careful, Qo'Vell always returning to the servant's quarters early in the morning, but this time she didn't wake up for some reason. His parents were furious at Gideon and demanded that he broke up with Qo'Vell immediately. He refused, telling them that he loved her, something that fell on deaf ears. He was a noble damn it and shouldn't, nay, couldn't fall in love with commoners. The relationship was over, immediately, and Qo'Vell was out of there. Gideon pleaded with his parents that they couldn't just kick her out like that, saying that she had done her job flawlessly. He promised them that the relationship was over if they would let her continue to work there. They eventually agreed to the terms, but it was all a lie. They would send her away first thing in the morning, thus making sure that Gideon would never see her again. Gideon, however, had already realized this. He talked to Qo'Vell and the two decided there was only one thing to do.

That night the two managed to sneak out again, only this time with a few more items than usual plus about a hundred golden coins that Gideon had stolen from his father. The two ran away, eventually finding their home in a small coastal town called Drassen. They found a small cottage where they started their own doctor's office, helping the local people. The money they made was a far cry from what Gideon was used to making, but it didn't matter. They made enough and they had each other, and for about two years it was all they wanted.

Then life as they knew it ended. A pirateship called the Tazequina had arrived at the port, seemingly there to buy food and supplies. Apparently someone had told them about the young doctor and how skilled he was because the captain himself along with three men decided to pay him a visit. Captain Tenko Mafwat was a large man with a wooden leg made out of teak, had long greasy grey hair and a matching beard. He offered Gideon a job on their ship as a doctor, but he politely declined, saying he had no interest in leaving his wife behind or bring her on a ship full of pirates. The captain nodded at his men that suddenly tackled Gideon to the ground, tying up his arms behind his back and gagging him. Qo'Vell immediately rushed towards them with a knife in her hand but captain Mafwat easily pulled his flintlock pistol on her and shot her right between the eyes right in front of her husband. Gideon let out a muffled heartbroken scream before being knocked out, waking up on the Tazequina in chains. The ship had already set sail and the captain informed him that this was his new life now. He was their doctor, and it'd be in his own interest to do a good job.

Life on the Tazequina nearly killed Gideon. Captain Mafwat thought the best way to keep him motivated was to give him a couple of lashes with a whip across the back every now and then. Add in that he was crushed by the fact that the love of his life was dead and that the crew thought Gideon looked ”real purdy” and there was no surprise that his mind was starting to break. He started hearing a voice, a voice that called himself Tayen. The voice appeared every now and then, berating Gideon for the death of Qo'Vell and claiming that Gideon deserved everything he was getting. Gideon tried to drown out the voice, but it only grew stronger with time, especially with the sexual abuse he had to endure.

But after a few months Gideon's luck turned. Somehow the lock on his chains had broken and simply fell off in the middle of the night, leaving Gideon free to go wherever he wanted. He snuck around the ship and eventually found himself on deck, gazing out across the water. The ship was anchored not far from a town, maybe about a mile away. Gideon could easily swim that and prepared to jump into the water when he stopped himself. He thought about everything that he had been through, everything that had been done to him, how Qo'Vell had been killed by captain Mafwat. His eyes grew dark as he turned around and disappeared below deck again. He found his way to the table where he treated his patients and grabbed a scalpel. While sneaking around the ship he managed to slit the throat of a couple of guards that were awake, but his real goal was to collect all the powder kegs and set them up in a large pile. After doing so he lit a long fuse, one that was hopefully long enough to let him do one more thing.

Captain Mafwat was sleeping like a baby in the captain's quarters, unaware of the slender figure with death in his eyes looming by the side of his bed. Gideon clutched the scalpel tightly and was about to jam it into Mafwat's neck when he noticed something next to his feet. It was a wooden leg. Mafwat's wooden leg. He picked it up and studied it for a moment before his face twisted into one of rage and he raised the leg above his head with both hands and repeatedly struck his captor in the head with it. Mafwat did wake up but couldn't do anything, instead just slurring out a few words before going quiet again as he was beaten into an unidentifiable pulp.

About 20 minutes later the entire town of Cambria was awake as a loud explosion had torn through the night. Making their way down to the docks to get a better look at the burning ship they found a man down there, rambling and cursing while waving a wooden leg above his head. His voice was filled with murderous glee, howling at the boat how he got them all and how he crushed Tenko Mafwat's skull with his own leg. Noone dared approach the ranting man that sometimes stopped to argue with himself, and noone certainly tried to stop him when he left.

Months have passed since that night and while noone's sure there are rumours going around that a former nobleman named Gideon T. Wolfheart the Third was the one behind it. When the story is being told it's not always by that name, it's usually by one of the two nicknames the lunatic with the long blue hair received that night; ”The Mafwat Murderer” or ”The Tazequina Torcher”.

Weapon(s):

Primary weapon: Wooden leg
Captain Maswaf's wooden leg. Gideon uses it as a club and has added a leather strap to it that he puts his wrist through to lessen the chance of him dropping it in combat. While not the most lethal weapon a good hit to the head will knock most people out, a second hit might very well kill them.

Secondary weapon: Scalpel
A scalpel that Gideon keeps disgustingly sharp by sharpening it against the leather strap on his club. He keeps it in a small sheath in his belt, making it impossible for people to know he even has it. He's naturally good with it and often uses it if he gets close to his opponent, making them bleed profusely. Considering how sharp it is he also has a very good chance of downright killing them with one single swipe of it.

Skills:

Swimming: Gideon is a very strong swimmer and enjoys spending time in the water. He is yet to find a better swimmer than him, not that he has really been looking for one.

Lung capacity: Gideon can hold his breath underwater for about two minutes, something people have a hard time believing.

Stealth: Very light on his feet, Gideon can sneak up behind most people. Seeing that he's not a very good fighter it certainly comes in handy for him, especially if he can work in the cover of the dark.

Drawing: A hobby of his. He has always liked drawing portraits and usually does this when he doesn't have anything that needs to be done. He also tends to draw portraits of his late wife, but he almost immediately tosses them away as he feels guilty when he's looking at her face.

I sent KOD a PM and we'll see what concept he brings to the table. We have two characters left now. Nobody feel pressured or hurried. I haven't exactly designed the IC yet.

You said an Engineer, what else is coming down the pipeline?

You were in Deep Space weren't ya?

Yes, now that you've jogged my memory I do recall that one.

Wait, did you remember me because I was talking about bad puns, is that the memorable thing about me? Cause I don't know how to feel about that.

Hi there, I'm a bit new to the Lit site and the forum, but I have participated in a few ORP's before. I was hoping there may be room for one more? Starting as a deckhand I would think.

Just keeping everyone up to date. We're just patiently waiting for the last two character sheets. :)

Name: Rudyard Faraday
Alias: Ruddy
Rank: Master Engineer
Age: 37
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Height: 5'11
Weight: 160 lbs
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Brown
Physical Description: Rudyard maintains his appearance as a matter of course, ensuring he is always clean shaven and presentable. His clothes are well made and were once fashionable, though they are now faded, wrinkled and dusty. He has a long coat buttoned in the front over a vest and shirt, and he wears fingerless leather gloves that extend to his elbows. He wears metal goggles over his eyes that have a variety of lenses he can snap into place. A beat-up tophat rests on his head. What skin is visible, other than his face, is covered with tattoos. None of his tattoos are large, and there is no theme other than they all depict symbols of luck from various cultures, and they are all black. Around his neck hangs what looks like a phylactery, and it is actually a vial containing opium that he sniffs intermitently. His pockets are usually crammed with half-finished schematics, tools and random machine parts.
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Religious: Very, in a way. He believes wholeheartedly that the Father, the Mother and the Daughter are real, that they have a real and tangible effect on the world, and that understanding it is in the realm of human knowledge, which many would see as a heretical view.
Personality: Rudyard is a mixture of proper gentleman, mad scientist, ruthless street fighter, religious zealot and opium addict.
Superstition: Very superstitious. He is always looking for causality and attempts to explain them with his own perculiar scientific model of the universe. Though he covers his body in tattoos depicting the symbols of luck, he doesn't believe in blind luck. He believes luck is a currency and vitory stems from having more luck than his opponent. What brings luck, however, is not known - but he believes that the secret lies in where science and superstition overlap.
Likes: Freedom. Finding correlations between religion and science. Fighting. Opium.
Dislikes: Cowardice, close-mindedness
Character Ons: Banter. Innuendo. Roughness. Symmetry. And a somewhat alarming appreciation of well-designed machinery.
Character Offs: The usual.

Background:

There are the "haves", and there are the "have-nots", and Rudyard was lucky enough to have been born into the former. Growing up in a family that has wealth afforded Rudyard a childhood of privelege, where he was able to spend time following his interests. His parents were delighted in his propensity for intellectual stimulation, but were concerned that from time to time his baser instincts ruled him, resulting in multiple narrowly-avoided scandals. It was determined that it was in everyone's best interest that he be sent abroad for schooling where he would learn to be a proper gentleman.

In some ways it was a success - academically Rudyard excelled, and he took great pains to present himself as a respectable gentleman. However, he continuously struggled with an addiction to danger and violence. He found outlets in the form of sparring with this schoolmates in the boxing ring and sparring with his professors using sacreligious theology. His boxing, though violent, was an outlet palatable to his teachers and parents, but his beliefs that science can explain religion met with much resistance. In particular a paper he wrote that hypothesized that if the Father, Mother and Daughter could influence the world then humans could in turn influence them was deemed sacreligious and he was almost expelled.

He expected that after his schooling his academic record would bring him lucrative work, but his colleagues were affronted by his views and instead he found himself shunned and ostracized. Sinking into a depression, he turned to street fighting and opium and revelled in his baser proclivities, sometimes losing days to an opiate-induced haze. It was at this time that he had some of his greatest engineering breakthoughs, and he also developed a core belief that symbols of luck found throughout different cultures could be seen as corresponding to the rituals used when referring to the Daughter (and to a lesser extent the Mother and the Father), and he began to inscribe them on his skin. The fact that he began to win more brawls at that time only served to prove to Rudyard that he was on to something.

Now Rudyard is looking for danger, freedom, and opportunities to pursue knowledge without the constrains of societal rules. An outlook that resonates with piracy.

Weapon(s):

Blunderbuss - Moderately larger than a flintlock pistol, Rudyard's blunderbuss makes up for its lack of accuracy and range with explosive power.

Cesti - The gloves on Rudyard's hands are fingerless and made of leather. they continue almost to his elbow, and on the back of his forearms is a metal plate that can be pulled over his knuckles with ease. In this way, he can transform his gloves into cesti which adds a great deal of damage to his punches.

Skills:

Equipment:

Goggles - Rudyard's goggles have a number of lenses that he can switch to. Mostly these lenses act as a magnifying glass or as a spyglass, though some allow him to filter out light or to see better in low light situations.

Training:

Engineering - Rudyard is very intelligent, and his opium-induced reveries sometimes bestow fits of genius. He can fix almost anything that uses steam or clockwork.

Pugilist - Rudyard is a classically-trained boxer who has the confidence that comes from covering one's body in luck, steel plated knuckles and the belief that the best defense is a good offense.

Don't mind words that came from me. I rarely add anything useful or relevant to OOC.

Useful or not, it's always nice to hear from others. Hopefully will have the character sheet done by this weekend. Filling out the background now.

So, we're waiting on the final sheet. I am going to ask real quick if any of your characters would have previously been a part of Captain Kraken's crew before his arrest or did you desire to have your character recruited? For those who were previously on his crew prior, they'll be planning a simple rescue. They will also have to go into hiding so they can regroup and plot to steal a...*smirks* Noble ship. That's going to be interesting.
