I am extremely new to writing and is looking for a patient editor, but having no luck finding one yet.
English has always been a hated subject to me, being severely dyslexic I have struggled with it all my life. I have had several stories that have been running around my head for the last 5 plus years and I have finally decided to try and write them.
The first story is a very slow burn waif story. Basically, older guy runs into younger homeless woman that is resistant to the older mans help. She goes from passive to aggressive and back not knowing how or what she is feeling. Him, divorced and starting over with "nice guy syndrome"

I have posted the first chapter with mostly good comments on it. The First ch. is about 26k long, and needs some editing as it's still ruff.

I am not sure how long it will go for but there is another 23k that I am still going over and I don't see the end in the story yet, but have an idea where I do want it to end.

What I am looking for is someone to help me with:
-Spelling
-Grammar
-Sentence structure
-keeping the tense correct, I did start the story in first person and changed it to third.
-and constructive criticism.

I'm an adult and can handle a red pen. So a journey together or just us meeting at the end I am open to all ideas and help.

I have written it in OpenOffice and also put in Google Docs to try and catch some of the mistakes.

PS: I did try and submit a shorter, quicker to the "fun" stuff story. I used Grammarly to check as I just wanted to get something out there, but I couldn't get it posted. After 5 tries and rejections, saying that it was AI I gave up on Grammarly.

I would be willing to give it a shot if you're ok teaming with a new editor. I have strong language skills and respect voice... Just let me know

Welcome to the club. Most editors want payment. I also have a grammar and learning disability, so writing, which is something I love doing, is very difficult for me, when I did post I got a lot of negative feedback. So I just gave up. I wish you the best of luck.

The editors from Lit are volunteers, so they should not be asking for a payment.

It was hard to find one and I did, finally.
They may not be a professional but they have elevated what I am presenting to everyone. I tried and continue to tell myself that the volunteers that are on this site do this with out any payment and with in there free time. If they are anything like me, there isn't a lot of that.
If you are still looking be patient hopefully you will find one.
