Hi all!

I don't know if I can post my message here but I'll try anyway.

I have tried several times to publish a story but every time it is not good enough to be posted.

My very first written story was finally approved and posted after 2 attempts and it hardly differs in writing from the other story that is therefore not approved.
I think it is such a shame and I am quite disappointed because I would like to share my story with you because I am also quite proud of it,despite the fact that I am a beginner writer of English written stories
(I am Dutch)
I just don't get it

The issue is your dialogue tags. Like many things here, some stories that are a wreck get through, other times they get flagged.

Read the essay the note mentions, follow its example and it should be fine.

Thx for your answer.

I will try again, hopefully it will work and the story will be approved 🤞🏻

You might try using the volunteer editors program, a good editor should be able to take a look at your dialog and help you fix it!

Or for that matter, if you posted in the Editors Forum and shared a short excerpt of your dialog, we could probably diagnose your issue easily 😊

Ok.Thanks!
Maybe I will try

This is the story body describing the scene and what the characters are doing.

"I like that" was Barbie's reply.

Ken was less eloquent when he added "This shit sucks!!!"

The both left the place that set them off.

Commas with the quotes might help.

Look at my older stories. It took me forever to figure this one out. 🤭

Last year I submitted a story 88k in size. I was so happy and excited about my masterpiece. Until it was rejected for poor grammar

Fast forward a few months, I wrote more stories. Some of the editors helped me see the errors. The writing tutorials helped. I scrapped almost 200k worth of text before finally making my first submission.

I thought I did a good job in my first accepted story worth just over 1K, only to be trolled brutally for the jarring mistakes. 😨 Even worse I had to live through the trolling until the edit was approved 2 weeks later.😭

Hang in there and reach out for an editor. Looking forward to your next submission.

Don't get discouraged. I've been writing here for years and years and I just got a story rejected for improper quotation use and for the life of me, I cannot figure out what's wrong.

Honestly, this is baffling to me. I had two stories submitted at the same time, one of them got approved within a day (which seemed normal to me at the time) while the other one is still languishing almost a week later.

A week is not languishing. Laurel will stagger stories from the same author, especially in the same category. Give it a little longer and then send Laurel a polite DM to see if there's an issue.

I'd check to make sure you hit that final submit button. I waited a week once checking to see if it would tell me when it would posted. Finally saw, that I had opened the story once and did not hit that final icon. It posted within 3 days after that.
