Streaming TV Shows vs Downloading, Legality Question

I'm confused.

I've been watching streamed episodes of my favourite TV shows, which haven't yet made it onto our screens here in Australia. I'm just watching them, I'm not saving them onto my computer.

I want to know if this is illegal. I'm fed up with shows I like being taken off air/moved around/clashing with other shows. This way I can see the shows I like, without ads too.

Am I in trouble, or not?

Where are you watching the streaming? A lot of networks will have episodes available on their website, completely legally, but as far as I was aware, we couldn't actually access the ones in the US...

ETA: I echo those sentiments exactly though! Goddamned local tv, specially over the summer!

I'm using iView but that's completely legal.

But I've also found an overseas site which has up to date episodes of shows which haven't yet screened here. For instance I watched Supernatural Season 5 Episode 7 which was where channel 10 left us in limbo a few weeks ago I also watched Medium S6 Ep 1 which will be screening on 10 this coming Thursday, but it clashed with other shows I want to see so I watched it online.

That sounds dodge to me

The way vids get on these sites is by people copying them... sure, networks and production companies will often post snippets of things, but never whole eps. They want you watching via *their* mediums, so that you can also watch their advertising.

IMDB.com frequently has current tv show episodes on within hours of airing, at least here in the States. Hulu is another site that is a legal, free site to watch such things. There seems to be more and more legitimate sites posting broadcast tv both current season and past seasons. Well worth the effort, IMHO. Watching broadcast or pay tv has now become an excersize for advertisers to sell their wares. FUCK them!

The site I'm using uses Hulu as well as others according to their blurb
Click on an episode title and it gives multiple links to places to go to watch streamed episodes.

I didn't check imdb yet, but when I try to look at something in Hulu, it tells me it's streaming to the US only

I click the international availability link and yup, tis a US only service.

The handful I tried on imdb told me there was no videos matching my query
