Strings for the Veteran (Closed)

She was on him, kissing him almost aggressively and tearing at his jacket. taken temporarily by surprise, she had gotten his jacket completely off before he recovered and started running his hands under her sweater.

She was fondling with his belt as he started pulling her sweater over her head, eliciting a short squeal of protest from her as he lifted her hands away from him. He stopped when the sweater completely covered her eyes and had raised her arms all the way over her head. Then he teased her by almost kissing her a couple of times before melting into her and pulling her sweater completely over her head.

She wrapped her arms around him as they kissed and waltzed and stumbled towards the bedroom, shedding garments until they stood before each other in their underwear. She in a lacey white set with black trim and he with red silky boxers.

He leaned in to kiss her again and she jumped up and hung from his neck as her legs wrapped around him. The kiss was one of the most intimate, smoldering kisses he'd ever shared with anyone.

Elinor tightened her legs around his waist as she hung on to him. He took a step back and they both laughed into their kiss as he landed on his back on the bed, Elinor straddling him. She sat straight up, her hands splayed on his chest, admiring him before leaning down, licking along his bottom lip and kissing him hard, her hands tangling in his hair as he scooted up the bed, using his legs to push them up, his arms fumbling behind her to unclasp her bra. She giggled, nibbling on his lips as she sat up again, feeling him hard beneath her. She bit her lip, reaching to the clasp between her breasts. He shook his head, confounded and she giggled, her smile evident. Her straps fell from her shoulders and she tossed the bra to the floor. She stood up, standing at the foot of the bed, with her back to him. She glanced over her shoulder as she pulled down her panties. The silk slid over her heart shaped bottom, the tattoo on her hip, and she stepped out of them.

She crawled up again, sitting where she had been, and lifting his hand to her chest. Her heart was pounding as his hand moved up, around her shoulder and neck, pulling her down to his lips again as their mouths meshed, groaning needily.

There were no words, just actions of desperation, of love, of want.

He lay transfixed, watching her take her panties off. She was stunningly gorgeous. Heartshaped bottom, slim waist and perky breasts. And she wanted him. The thought made his manhood stand at rigid attention, and he quickly and unceremoniously slipped his boxers off.

As she straddled him again, his erect penis rested between her hot labial lips. She brought his hands up to her breasts, and he lovingly stroked them before pulling her down for another long and hot french kiss, their tongues darting and caressing.

As she leaned a little back, the tip of his manhood prodded at her vaginal opening. She disentangled herself from their kiss and looked down on him with a look of pure lust and desire on her face. She bit her lower lip and watched him intently as she reached back and guided him inside of her.

They were both ready for one another. He was hard as a rock, she was moist and welcoming warm. She sank slowly down on him, her tight little cave gripping his pole in a tender caress. They moaned in unison as she sank to the hilt. Then she leaned forward and kissed him again, the intensity of the kiss even more profound as they shared the most intimate of acts.

Then she started moving, and Nicholas could only groan with pleasure.

Her hips rolled, her stomach flat against his as she leaned down to kiss him. Sucking his lip, groaning at the full feeling of him as he had bottomed out inside her. His eyes were boring into hers like fire melting ice and she was entirely his. The kiss was slow, long, wet, just like what their bodies were coupling in. Her tight, moist canal was gripping him, moving against him in that delicious friction that made her groan against his kisses with every slight movement.

She broke away from the kiss, a string of saliva between their lips, dropping onto her right breast. She smiled, groaning too much to laugh as she rose up, widening her legs around his hips, grinding her pelvis against his. Her nipples budded hard against his sparse chest hair and his hands cupped her breasts, the thumbs and forefingers gently squeezing on the pink buds. She tipped her head back and groaned throatily, her hands buried in the light auburn hair on his chest, pressing down as she started to move her hips a little faster, losing herself to him entirely.

Nicholas sat up, thrusting against her movements as his mouth found her collarbone, licking, sucking, kissing as his hands moved around her, pulling their bodies together. He seemed to sink deeper inside her and she writhed, her body squirming against his until she was on her back, her legs tangled behind him and he was on top of her, buried in her. She was wrapped around him like silk, and his mouth was on hers again, his hands moving over her back, down over her sides, holding her waist as he withdrew and sank into her again. She shifted up the bed as he drove inside her, her back curving, her hands above her head, pulling at the sheets. She pulled against him with her legs, their lithe bodies trying so desperately to become one in the night. His kiss deepened as he sank into her again and she pushed her chest against him her hands moving down over his shoulders and into his hair as his hands moved down to her hips, holding her bottom as he entered her completely, possessing her with his tongue, his body.

Nicholas was lost to her. Her eagerness matched his own as she met him thrust for thrust. She was beautiful in her abandon. She had her arms above her head, gripping the sheets as she hung on through their wild passionate ride. Her eyes were closed and her mouth was open, her head lolling from side to side as she moaned her pleasure for him alone to hear. Her taut body was stretched, her breasts jiggling every time he plunged into her.

Then she would grip his face , his sides, imploring him to continue wanting him to move faster. Nicholas complied. Now he stood on his knees, raised above her and vigorously making love to her, now he leaned forward to be embraced by her arms and legs while they shared a deep passionate kiss.

As their lust for each other grew, the lovemaking became a blur of moans, sweat, intense kisses and profound moments where they looked in each other's eyes, words superfluous as their actions and looks told everything they needed to know.

Presently their moans and movements became hyperacute, and Nicholas knew they were both on the verge of climaxing. They both gave it their all, their movements becoming more and more urgent and their moans louder and sharper and faster. Nicholas felt the blackening in his eyes and the tingling up his spine. With a huge effort he managed to clearly moan "I love you Elin" before he started to come inside of her. She exploded into an orgasm almost simultaneously.

Where Nicholas froze, rigidly bucking into her, she writhed and arched as the orgasm coursed through her. They were a study in opposites as he anchored her gyrating form, holding her to him with strong hands as the climax threatened to separate them.

The orgasm slowly subsided and Nicholas leaned over her, still inside her, and planted a warm kiss on her lips. They panted and moaned as their lips found each other's, and they rolled to the side, holding on to each other as if their lives depended on it. They looked each other in the eyes, love and passion reflected, not saying a word as their breath slowly returned to normal.

Then they both started giggling out of sheer pleasure and they continued kissing and caressing each other as Nicholas slowly shrunk and pulled out of her.

It was incredible. She never made a sound the moment it hit, the tension exploding through her limbs from deep within her body. It felt like fireworks sizzling over her skin as her tight womanhood clamped down on him as he swelled and came in spurts inside her, sending her completely over the edge in bliss. Holding her breath, her entire body quivered and arched as he held her tight, ensuring they weren't separated as control of her body was lost in the moment of her climax. She opened her mouth, sucking in a breath that sounded more like a huge gasp. The air rushed back into her lungs, making her body hypersensitive. She shuddered as he leaned down over her. She could feel the hairs on his chest tickle the peaks of her nipples as his lips pressed against hers, kissing her deeply, his tongue penetrating her mouth, claiming her.

Nicholas pulled Elinor onto her side, her leg still hitched up over his hip. She could feel him inside her, stirring gently as they kissed intimately, touching each other and staring into each other's eyes in a series of never ending moments.

When they stopped panting, Elinor began to shake with laughter, running her hands over his arms, looking at him as he laughed back. She stopped giggling when he pulled out of her, and they kissed each other, their bodies still wrapped around each other. She looked down at the space between her legs where he had been and she blushed, seeing his semen seeping out of her a little, pooling on her thigh. She closed her legs, giggling again and sighing, their foreheads pressed together.

The morning light peeked under her eyelids, and Elinor slowly, gently awoke. She was warm, pleasantly so, and smiled as she looked up, realising Nicholas' arms were wrapped around her. He was awake, smiling down at her sheepishly. She stretched up with her head, kissing him gently on the lips.

"We smell like sex," she remarked, nuzzling against his chest and kissing the little 'v' of his neck. She buried her face against him, waking up slowly. It had been so long since she had been with a man, and she couldn't believe that it had happened the way it did. She shivered a little, feeling a cold chill creep up her spine. She held onto him a little tighter, her breathing picking up. She didn't want to ruin the sweet intimacies they had shared, and her body felt so relaxed, so sated, so safe. She could feel his fingers smoothing down the back of her head, his fingertips gently running over the scar where the drain had been. She held him a little tighter still. His arms went around her, as if he sensed what she was feeling, and he kissed her head.

Elinor was frightened. She had given her heart to him, her body too. Terror gripped her and her nails almost dug into him. He stroked her head again.

"Elinor... Elinor, look at me?" he murmured against her short hair. She shook her head against his chest, rubbing her nose against his skin. She felt him smile. "Solnyshko..." ...he kissed her and she felt her heart ache... "Please look at me?"

She drew her head back, looking up into eyes as blue as the cool summer seas in the Caribbean, a smile that warmed her like the sun. He kissed her wet eyes then, resting their foreheads together.

They lay like that until the room service came with their breakfasts, which they ate in bed, cross legged like young lovers, wrapped in their bathrobes. Elinor picked up her phone as she ate a cream cheese and salmon bagel and texted Carl.

Nicholas' cell beeped on the nightstand. A text from Alfredo. Nicky, Carl & I are celebrating NYE in the Big Apple. Do u guys want 2 make a 4some 4 cocktails, dinner & Times Square? It's cool if not."

Evidently Carl had asked Elin the same thing. She looked up. "They're staying with Carl's sister. What do you think?" She looked up at him tentatively. "I don't mind either way, it's up to you," she said with a shy smile.

Waking up with her was bliss, plain and simple. He watched her awaken slowly, enjoying every little grunt and squint from her. He had to agree, they did smell like sex. But he didn't mind. He loved her, he loved being with her, he loved the smell of her. God help him, he even loved her little panic attack. Mostly because it gave him an excuse to be tender with her, but he'd never been much charmed by morning-after panic attacks until now. He was really deeply in love.

Breakfast arrived, and they ate with healthy appetites despite the sumptuous meal they'd eaten the day before. They had some fun tossing grapes and little cherry tomatoes into each other's mouths, giggling and laughing like kids. And there was kissing, lots of kissing. And caresses. Nicholas found he almost physically ached when he wasn't touching her in some way.

He reluctantly turned on his cell phone again, and there were a few messages. Both Erin and his mom gave glowing endorsals of Elin's press conference. He showed their comments to her, causing a shy smile to erupt from her lips. Alexey texted to tell about the Tattler trying to dig deeper regarding Nicholas and the fact he'd turned vagrant. Nicholas shrugged. As long as they focused on him and let Erin and Elin alone, he didn't much care.

There were also a few missed calls from Marianne and... the Boston Tattler. He chuckled at that. They'd probably tried to reach him for comments. Well, he wasn't about to help them sell their trash. He blocked the number. He put the phone away and was about to dig into a roll with ham and cheese when his phone buzzed. Nicky, Carl & I are celebrating NYE in the Big Apple. Do u guys want 2 make a 4some 4 cocktails, dinner & Times Square? It's cool if not."

Elin had gotten a similar message. She turned to him: "They're staying with Carl's sister. What do you think? I don't mind either way, it's up to you," she said, that irresistibly cute shy smile gracing her face again. He grabbed her and kissed her. "If you ever want to get something done today you have got to stop smiling at me like that, sweetheart. You're simply irresistible!" A new kiss, on her forehead this time. He looked at her with a loving gaze and the worlds biggest smile on his face.

"I never thought it'd happen like that, us making love so quickly. I must confess, I was a little afraid to push you too hard about sex, given what you've been through. I am so happy and so proud of you for pushing through your own boundaries, and I am humbled by the fact that you trust me to such a degree that you're not afraid to be intimate with me. Thank you Elin, it really means, well, everything to me. Because I love you so much it hurts."

His voice had started to quaver a little and he didn't want to spoil the mood.

Then he remembered what she'd asked him. "I would LOVE to be with Carlfredo on New Years Eve. I know how much those two guys mean to you, and we became firm friends while watching over you. I'm so happy you have those two guardian angels to watch over you in the orchestra. I guess I've come to love them as well."

That sounded wrong somehow. "As friends, of course. Not like they love each other. I mean... WILL YOU STOP GIGGLING!" he roared, mock anger in his voice as he blushed and laughed at her teasing giggles. "God, you're cute even when you're annoying," he grumbled goodnaturedly as he caught her and whispered "I really am helpless to your female wiles!" A deep kiss followed. He felt his body start to respond, then out of nowhere he felt like he'd gotten a cold shower.

They had forgotten about contraception last night! He knew he was free of any STD's of course and he couldn't imagine her being the carrier of any disease either. He trusted her enough that he didn't think she'd do anything like that to him. But then there was the chance of conception. He wouldn't mind being a father, of course. But would she feel the same way? She had a long career ahead of her as a musician, and he very much doubted that children would hinder that in any way. But maybe she wanted to live her life to the fullest before that? She looked at him quizzically, and he knew he had to say something lest she thought something was wrong.

"Elinor, we forgot to use protection last night! I have a whole pack of condoms in my toilet bag, but like a fool I forgot about them yesterday." Her worried look melted away and she laughed, a clear and merry laugh of relief. "That was why you looked so thunderous? Well Nikolai, you can just put your worries at ease right now. I've had a hormonal injection. The chance of pregnancy is less with that shot than with a rubber thingy. So relax!" She hugged him, her head leaning on his chest. "But thanks for worrying, Nikolai!" Then she said something in russian and looked at him with a wicked grin before scampering off to the bathroom.

Nicholas stared out the windows as he heard the shower turned on. He loved the way she said his name with a russian twist. He marveled again at the twists and turns of fate that had brought them together and turned his life around. To think that he was contemplating suicide and living on the streets a few months ago was- what was going on down there?

Two policemen were manhandling a man dressed in worn clothes, forcibly removing him from this upscale area. Nicholas had been that man only a short while ago, and now here he was, warm and comfortable in a penthouse suite with a beautiful woman his girlfriend and with a very well paying job. He leaned against the window, willing the policemen to be kind to the vagrant they jostled off. Without realizing it he'd started crying, the memories of many such encounters and the humiliation they brought him fresh in his memory.

He heard the bathroom door open and he turned around and spoke. "If a publishing house ever prints and sells my book, the earnings will go to help the homeless, Elin. I swear!" Then he went to hug her as he broke down and cried.

He swept her into his arms, a torrent of emotions flooding through him as he held her tightly. He must have seen something, remembered something. She just held him against her, letting him cry. When he had settled, she ran the shower and pushed him towards the bathroom.

"It'll help you relax. I'll put on some music for you. Then we can go into Manhattan, maybe do some shopping. I'll contact the boys and let reception know they'll be coming." She opened his bathrobe, giggling as she pretended to be shocked at his nudity. "We can all get massages, it'll be fun. Me and Carl can be the girls." He pulled her to him suddenly, kissing her hard. She blushed, lifting her phone and dialling Alfredo's number, talking to him in fluent Italian as she winked at Nicholas, closing the bathroom door. She put on some Pachelbel, his Canon In D, for Nicholas to listen to as she arranged for Carl and Alfredo to come over after lunch.

She dressed in jeans and a high necked shirt and velvet jacket with matching heels. By the time she had her make up done and her little stud earrings in, Nicholas was standing perfectly dressed and shaved, smiling at her. She shrugged into her jacket and strode up to him confidently, planting a kiss firmly on his lips.

Her eyes changed, they seemed to take on a more serious tone. "Don't ever feel afraid to be upset with me. We saved each other, Nicholas. We are changed, every thing that has happened to us has led us here, led us to this moment right now." She took his hand. "And we get to continue the road ahead like this. Together." She tugged his hand, pulling him to the door. "And now I want the man I love to come to kitschy music shops and book shops and dress shops with me... Before we meet the two princesses." She kissed his hand as they stepped into the elevator. "I love you. Don't forget it."

After his shower and shave he felt like a new man. She looked stunning as always. Nicholas went casual today, gray suit with a large white knitted sweater and black winter shoes. He stood in the doorway and checked her out as she lay her finishing touches on her makeup. Watching her go about the routine of laying makeup felt oddly comforting to him. Her attention to detail told volumes of her dedication to all she did, and he felt proud knowing that he was part of the reason she tried to look her very best.

She strode over to him and kissed him, then looked him squarely in the eyes. "Don't ever feel afraid to be upset with me. We saved each other, Nicholas. We are changed, every thing that has happened to us has led us here, led us to this moment right now." To hear her acknowledge that she'd saved him as surely as he'd saved her was a relief to him.

"I will never be afraid to be vulnerable in front of you, Solnyshko. I know you won't betray my trust and I assure you I won't betray yours. I would trust you with my life after what we've been through. I love you."

They entered the elevator and he kissed her as she again told him she loved him. The kiss deepened and they grew oblivious to everything around them, so much so that it took a loud 'ahem' to make them snap out of it and realize they were on the ground floor. Some good natured chuckling followed them as they blushing and giggling left the elevator.

They set off for Barnes & Noble when Nicholas stopped cold. There, at the entrance to Central Park was the vagrant he'd seen manhandled by the police. He couldn't ignore him. He went to him and started talking to him. The vagrant seemed wary at first, but he thawed up soon enough when he realized Nicholas had been a fellow sufferer, going so far as to call him 'brother'. Nicholas spent fifteen minutes talking to the man before slipping him 100 dollars. Truth be known, he felt embarassed by the man's gratitude, and he started to understand how Elin must have felt when he tried thanking her for setting him up in an apartment and getting him a job. He gently told the man (Joshua was his name) to get some food and warmth in him. Odds were good that he ended up using some of the money for booze, though.

They were soon on their way again, Nicholas' mind racing. He had his arm around Elin and he started talking. He knew his book was good, though it needed editing. During the new year he would submit his manuscript to a publishing house and take it from there. He earned more than enough in his job as it was. He didn't need any income from his book.

He stopped talking after a while. This could wait until after their holiday together. He turned all his attention to her again, relishing her company and radiant beauty. "I really am lucky, aren't I?" he thought.

They walked hand in hand through a series of little shops, spending long stretches in Barnes and Noble, different music stores and clothes ships. Nicholas was painfully aware of the plight of the homeless around the streets, often stopping to buy them a cup of hot coffee, or a sandwich. It made Elinor feel guilty as she carried around her shopping bags.

They got lunch in a pleasant little cafe. Warm soup and fresh bread, with a glass of wine each. Elinor stared at the soup, picking at the bread but not eating. Nicholas took her hand across the table and looked at her with those clear blue eyes, a questioning expression. He asked her what was wrong. She said nothing. He pressed on.

Finally she relented. "I just feel guilty. We've been shopping all day... You must think it's a way of life for me." She sighed. "I didn't earn it... My parents inheritance. I don't deserve it..." Her head hung and she looked a little forlorn. Nicholas reassured her, eventually coaxing her into eating the lunch. She did so compliantly, as he received a text from Alfredo, informing them he was on his way to their hotel with Carl. They bustled back to their suite and unloading all their shopping bags. It made Elinor feel a little happier every time Nicholas held her hand, or even just touched her. He put his arms around her as they stood in the kitchen together.

"I just want to say, in case I forget later... I had a wonderful time tonight." She smiled shyly. "I don't want you to think I'm ungrateful..." She fidgeted a little but he held her even tighter and kissed her head. There was a smell of fresh coffee, and she noticed he had put on a pot for the boys coming.

"I think they'll be here soon," Elinor said, and just as Nicholas opened his mouth to answer her, there were a series of knocks on the door. Elinor squealed, jumping up and down as they opened the door.

Carl swept her up in his arms. "My little Russian doll!" He spun her around as she kissed his cheek, smiling and laughing.

"Carl! Alfredo! I've missed you guys, I'm so happy to see you..."

He set her down again and she turned, smiling to Alfredo, who immediately noticed the faded little marks on her neck. He perked an eyebrow at Nicholas, then put his arms around her, holding her close and protectively, kissing her on the mouth. She stayed in his arms for a moment as Carl hugged Nicholas, who announced that coffee was ready.

They drank their beverages and caught up on what they had all been up to. Carl squealed as he heard about the concert the night before, and demanded that he see the photograph of Katarina, and the dresses Elinor had bought for their night out. They disappeared into the bedroom, leaving Alfredo and Nicholas alone.

"Here, I thought you might want to see this," Alfredo said as he tossed a newspaper onto Nicholas' lap. "It's the evening edition from yesterday." He watched as Nicholas read the positive review of the news conference, and then looked up at him again. "Tina has done good work. I've been in touch with her quite a bit." He looked awkward. Nicholas looked confused.

"I'm trying to keep a lid on some stupid shit Elin got involved in back in Italy. With a married man. I guess from your expression she's already told you. He was a professor in one of the universities in Florence. Married. They used to fuck," he said caustically. His eyes looked stern and cold as he sipped his espresso. "That's how I met Elinor. Guy took her to a summer concerto I was playing at and we hit it off. She is the one who secured my position in the orchestra here. If it wasn't for her, I'd never have met Carl." He softened a bit. "Anyway. Guy and her were crazy about each other. I understand, you know. She's full of life, a real firecracker. And she was exploring everything about life." He looked at Nicholas warily. "I should have mentioned all this, but it's kind of sensitive. Guy and his wife divorced last year, and since the news broke about her attack, he's been trying to make contact. Tina and I have been on top of it." He frowned a little. "There's things that could be embarrassing for her. I mean, judging from her great mood, your great mood, and those marks... I'm guessing you guys have fucked-"

Nicholas objected to the use of the word.

"-...sorry. Look, when we were in Italy, we were close. I know the kind of kinky stuff she likes. I know she probably asked you to bite her, or whatever..." He leaned forward in his chair. "Nicky, I travelled halfway across the world to protect her from Guy. Just be careful with her. Don't rush her." His eyes moistened a little. "I love her too, you know? We all do. She's an old soul. I mean, I saw how destroyed she was after Guy, how guilty she felt... He took advantage of her naïveté, of her wanting to explore the darker side of things..." He sighed. "I told him that. I told him if he came near her again I'd break his nose..." He glanced at Nicholas, "...brother or not."

His eyes stayed on Nicholas' face for a moment. "Oh... Um... I guess you didn't know all of that, then..."

They were having lunch, but she was hardly touching her food, and her mood seemed downcast despite the shopping spree they'd been on. He'd gone berserk at Barnes & Noble, buying a large bag of books he really looked forward to dig into. He'd also spent some money on homeless people he'd seen, feeling guilt and relief at how his life had turned around. It seemed his generosity had struck a chord in Elin, though. That was never his intention.

"Elin, Solnyshko, look at me. That you should even think these thoughts speaks volumes of your great heart. And I love you for it. But neither you nor I can save the entire world, Elin. I got a reminder this morning about life on the street, and I've gone a little crazy today, handing out money to every homeless person I've seen. This does not mean I, or anyone else, begrudge you your wealth. And as for deserve, you didn't deserve to be assaulted twice and almost killed either. What we do and don't deserve is a futile exercise in guilt and self-blame that does no-one any good. Just be grateful for what you have and never forget how fortunate you are. With you and your aunt's initiative to help victims of rape and sufferers of PTSD you've already done more than most would care to do. You, Elinor Ilya Mironov-Kernshaw, are a good and kind person. Your wealth and how you came about it does not alter that fact."

He leaned clear across the table and kissed her. "Now please Solnyshko, you're not helping anyone by starving yourself. You must eat, and the soup happens to be delicious." She ate, making Nicholas happy. Then came the text message and their quick rush back to the hotel.

As Elin stowed away the purchases of the day he set about making some coffee. Then they shared a little moment in the kitchen. He loved just holding her. Her slender body felt at the same time frail and strong, reminding Nicholas of the time he'd handled a bird when he was a boy. The feel and smell of her was, as always, intoxicating yet reassuring. He wished that little moment could last forever, but as he formed that thought and tried to put it in words to her there was a knock on the door and she squealed and ran to open it up. Nicholas readied the coffee and went out to greet them, hugging Carl and shaking hands with Alfredo. He noticed Alfredo's look and cocked eyebrow and he knew something was up, something Alfredo confirmed when they were alone.

The newspaper gave a glowing review of Elin's press conference. Nicholas beamed at that. He couldn't have been more proud of her. Judging by Alfredo's expression though, there was more to come. He was not wrong.

He let Alfredo finish, digesting the news about guy being Alfredo's brother along the way.

"First of all Alfredo, let me tell you how grateful I am for you and Carl looking out for her. You both mean the world to her and I think she'd be lost without you. You are great friends to her and to me, never doubt that. Now, I have no intention of rushing or pressuring her into anything she doesn't want to. When it comes to, um, being intimate, she holds the reins. When she says 'stop', I stop. When she says 'more' I ask 'are you sure?' The sex we've had has been initiated by her. I love her too damn much to want to rush things with her or hurt her in any way. She is the kindest and most sensitive soul I've ever met, and I just want to protect her from the evils of the world. So I think we are agreed, Alfredo. We both love her and we both want to protect her. But are you sure keeping this secret is the way to go? If this blows up in her face unprepared and she finds out we knew about Guy... I think she needs to be told. And believe me when I say that you wanting to break his nose tells me enough about him to want to break his nose as well. Elin trusts you which means I trust you. But have you noticed how strong she becomes when acting to help others? It was only after the Tattler wrote about my sister that she decided to make that press conference happen. And she did it in a few hours. She is fierce when protecting others, but she needs to be protected as well."

This all came out in a rush. Nicholas had stopped to draw breath and Alfredo just looked at him and smiled, shaking his head a little as the smile turned into a chuckle and then a bellylaugh. "You've got it bad, Nicky!" Alfredo now roared with laughter as he stood up and went to embrace Nicholas. Nicholas couldn't help but laugh a little himself, a little chagrinned. "I've never loved anyone like I love her," he muttered as Alfredo hugged him. "And I would rather die than let anything happen to her again," he said, a quaver in his voice now.

Alfredo stepped back and looked at him. "Bite your tongue, Nicholas," he said. "Elin, Carl and I would very much appreciate you being alive for a good long life with her. No more such talk, Nicholas!" Alfredo could look fiercely strict when he wanted to and he gave Nicholas that look now, before softening into a smile. "But I understand the sentiment, Nicholas. I really do."

The squeals and giggles from the bedroom had subsided, and Elin and carl entered the room again. Nicholas gave Alfredo a brief imploring look as if to say "You must tell her!

Elinor came back into the living room and was a little mystified by Nicholas' expression. Alfredo rose to his feet, letting Carl take his chair.

"Well, have you chosen a dress, chica?" He said, setting his espresso cup down.

Elinor shook her head, smiling a little. "We narrowed it down to two."

Alfredo shook his head. "Looks like it's a job for the only one with a fashionable bloodline." He took her hand, pulling her along. "Let's go see which one is best, love." Elinor smiled, turning and blowing a kiss at Nicholas as Alfredo led her into the bedroom. She looked up at him, confused as he closed the door. "We need to talk, Elinor."

She grew pale and sat on the edge of the bed. "What is it?" Her eyes were wide and worried as he sat next to her, taking her hands in his.

"Your press conferences went well. But, there's something I've kept from you since all this began." He shifted awkwardly. She said not to worry, that he could tell her anything. "Alright, bella. Guy and Paula have got divorced. He's been trying to get in touch since the news broke, trying to make contact. I've been hedging the calls. Tina knows about it too, and I just told Nicky."

She blanched, seeming to shrink. "Oh my god."

Alfredo lifted her chin. "Elinor, it's fine. He knows better than to sell a stupid story. It's more than his miserable life is worth. And I swore I wouldn't let him hurt you." He smoothed her hair, worried about her. She seemed suddenly lethargic. "Please, don't let his memory spoil our days together."

She looked at him, suddenly engulfed by weariness. "Does Nicholas know... everything?"

Alfredo nodded. "It's nothing to be ashamed of. So you were... Adventurous. It's okay, baby. It's very healthy. It's just, Guy was a bad choice, but that wasn't your fault. You can't help who you love." She seemed to relax a little. "Now. I really promise to keep close to him. He won't try to see you without your say-so. And he's in Dubai anyway. Apparently he has a woman there." He winked at her. "She's probably old and fat and has a hairy back."

Elinor giggled, her cheeks pink again. "Thanks, Freddy." She squeezed him in a hug.

His heart ached. She only ever called him Freddy a couple of times. Usually when Guy had really hurt her or upset her. He hugged her back, picking her up and throwing her over his shoulder. "I like that one," he pointed as she squealed. He carried her into the bathroom and grabbed her robe and a towel, then rifled through a drawer and picked out her bathing suit as she hollered over his shoulder. He strode out into the living room to an astonished Carl and Nicholas.

"This one smells! I'm taking her down to the spa to get her decent looking. Apparently a night of sex turns her into a dirty monster."

Elinor squeaked in protest and held onto his belt, her skirt riding up her thighs. "You are a beast Freddy! Put me down!"

"Oh I'll put you down alright. You are a poor cellist."

Carl gasped in theatrical overreaction.

"I am not! How dare you, you fiend!"

But he was already carrying her out the door as Carl grabbed their case and ordered Nicky to get his things.

"Spa time!" Carl enthused as Nicholas locked the door, laughing at Elinor still hoisted over Alfredo's shoulder.

An hour later, the four friends were assembled in the hot tub, sipping champagne after swimming and time in the sauna and steam rooms. The mood was light and happy, they were joking, telling tales about when Carl and Alfredo met, and of the time Elinor had got on a wrong flight from Paris last year and ended up in Greece instead of Berlin. Carl laughed heartily, and Elinor protested at the affront, finishing her glass of champagne as one of the attendants entered the area.

"Gentlemen, ma'am, your masseuses are awaiting your arrival."

Carl groaned. "God I hope mine is a hot blooded Spanish man."

"And I hope mine's a posh Englishman," said Alfredo. The couple laughed playfully with each other as they walked into their couples massage. Elinor blushed shyly, walking into the little room with Nicholas. Their tables were close to each other and they stripped off and lay down.

"Freddy told me everything," Elinor said, gasping as the masseuse started on her shoulders. "It's okay. I'm alright about it. I just feel a little...embarrassed. I didn't really expect him to tell you everything about that. What I was like. Are you okay with it?" She relaxed audibly as the masseuse worked, looking forward to seeing the beautician later. Carl was accompanying her, and Alfredo had said he would take Nicholas shopping for something for New Year's Eve and they would meet at the restaurant.

Later, when Elinor and Carl were sitting wrapped in their robes having their head massages, mani-pedis and she was having her makeup done, Carl confessed he could see Nicky and her getting married. She laughed as the beautician plucked stray hairs from her eyebrows.

"Marriage, already? It's been two months, Carl. Two stressful months."

"Yeah, but he adores you. And you adore him. And you guys have had sex, right?"

"Once."

"And was it to your usual standard?" He laughed derisively.

She sighed. "It was beautiful. He made me feel beautiful. And loved, and wanted, desired. It was the best."

He raised his eyebrows. "The best? Better than-"

"Don't."

"Okay."

"Good."

"So, if I told you he and Alfredo were out looking at diamonds..."

"I'd say you are a liar, Carl Riley!" she exclaimed, scowling at him again. The nail artist scolded her for lifting her hand. "Sorry..."

"Right, come on shortie. We're done. You look good. I..." He straightened up, closing his eyes and posing, "...look fabulous, darling."

She laughed, glancing at a girl that looked much prettier than she did in the mirror, with silvery eyeshadow, a pixie styled hair and beautiful plump lips. "Alright, Julia Roberts," Elinor laughed, "Let's go get dressed. Our taxi is in half an hour."

"Freddy told me everything. It's okay. I'm alright about it. I just feel a little...embarrassed. I didn't really expect him to tell you everything about that. What I was like. Are you okay with it?"

They were getting their massages. Nicholas was groaning with pleasure and pain as the masseuse attacked hardened muscles and tender tendons. He looked at Elin, a blissful smile playing across his lips.

"Alfredo didn't go into detail, he only told me you were adventurous in, um, several ways. What happened before we met really isn't any of my business unless you want to share, Solnyshko. And if you want to share any stories, know that I will love you at the end of them. I've done embarassing things myself, I've done things that still haunts me in my dreams. Some day, maybe you will hear some of those stories. I only hope you will love me at the end of them. But that is for later. Today is about us making new fond memories together."

He reached over and grabbed her hand to give it a reassuring squeeze. Then he succumbed to the tender mercies of his masseuse again.

He'd agreed to meet Alfredo for some shopping after their treatment. Tiffany was but a brisk walk away and Nicholas needed a chance to talk with Alfredo. Alfredo spoke first. "So you've slept with our little russian, Nicky. How is she, really? Oh, don't give me that look! I didn't mean 'how is she in bed' or anything like that! I'm just curious about her mental state after the... unpleasantness."

Nicholas thought for a moment. "She's coping remarkably well. Sometimes I see in her eyes how she struggles. More often than not it's when she flinches when I surprise her or catch her off guard. She trusts me enough to love me and make love to me. She struggles daily. She's hard on herself. I mean, you heard her yesterday. 'We are not victims, we're survivors.' Those aren't empty words, she lives by those words every day, Alfredo. She's tougher than she thinks, but I still want to be there for her now and... well... for as long as she wants me."

Alfredo balked at that. "For as long as she wants you!? Nicholas, you need to realize that Elin isn't in the habit of using and throwing away men! She fell hard for my brother and it broke her heart when she realized she was nothing more than a pretty plaything to him. She doesn't fall in love easily, and when she does she gives herself completely, Nicholas. I never want to hear you say something like that ever again!" The steel was back in Alfredo's face and voice.

"I didn't mean it- ," Nicholas begun, trying to explain that he thought he wasn't worthy of her love and how she'd dump him when she realized that, but Alfredo didn't let him finish. With fire in his eyes he cut Nicholas off. "I know EXACTLY what you mean, Nicholas! It's written all over your face! You think she will dump you and fly off with another, worthier man, don't you!?" Nicholas nodded, tears stinging in his eyes. "Well shame on you for thinking so, Nicholas McKenzie! She loves you! She adores you, in fact. You saved her life. You allowed her to save you in return. She feels safe with you, she still can only be herself around Carl, you and I outside of her family." Alfredo's tone softened as he saw the look on Nicholas' face. He hugged him, a strong reassuring hug.

"Life has been hard on you and you're always expecting the worst to happen. I get that, Nicholas. I really do. But so help me, if I have to break your nose to prove this point, I will: Unless you do something REALLY stupid she will not abandon you! She loves you, and your love for her is plain for all to see, despite your insecurity. Let your guard down and allow yourself to truly love and be loved. You deserve it, as does she. And the next words out of your mouth now had better be 'yes Alfredo'! Anything else and I swear to you you will regret it.!"

Nicholas sighed. He'd needed to hear this. He replied simply: "Yes Alfredo." Alfredo beamed then. "Good! Now that that's settled, what would you like to get her?" They were at Tiffany's.

Nicholas spent a long time perusing the display cases before settling on a pair of diamond earrings that would compliment her great beauty. He settled on earrings with pink centerpiece diamonds surrounded by small white diamonds. Alfredo looked a bit unsure but said nothing.

They went to the restaurant to meet Carl and Elin. They arrived right after them, and Nicholas gasped when he saw the radiant beauty that was his girlfriend. He was stunned, gawping at the work of the beautician. He went to her and took her hands in his as he gazed into her eyes. All he saw was his love answered in kind, as well as a look of mirth caused by his gawping.

"You look simply beautiful, Solnyshko. I am so lucky to be with you and I love you with all my heart." He kissed her on the mouth, a brief but hot kiss. Then he reached into his pockets and brought out a small box clad in blue velvet with Tiffany's logo in gold lettering.

"I almost feel bad giving you these. It feels presumptuous of me to try to improve on perfection. So let's just say that these will compliment your beauty, nothing more. I hope you like them." He handed her the little box and held his breath as she opened it.

Elinor opened the box, biting her gentle pink lips and smiled broadly at the diamond earrings, and then at Nicholas.

"You didn't have to... But they're so beautiful. I love them." She put them in, and the pink matched her lipstick. She kissed Nicholas on the cheek, thanking him in Russian and then English, forgetting herself.

Elinor turned to Carl just as they were about to sit down. "Could you help me with my coat?"

He nodded enthusiastically, winking at Alfredo and then gesturing at Elinor as he slipped her black overcoat down over her shoulders. She hadn't decided on either of the dresses they had seen. Instead, she wore a short, silver dress that was entirely backless. Alfredo gawped, a grin forming on his lips as she turned, her olive skin clearly visible as the back of the dress gaped. Her shoes were a perfect match of silver, high stiletto heels.

"Jesus Christ," Alfredo said. "I think I'm getting an erection."

Everyone laughed as the waiter arrived with champagne and their appetisers. Elinor ordered minute steaks for her main, cooked rare. She had a glass of red wine and a chocolate torte for dessert, which she savoured and groaned over intently, teasing Nicholas as the ever-flowing wine made her a little braver. After dinner, they headed into Manhattan and had reserved a table at an upmarket cocktail bar. Alfredo got their seats and ordered for them. Nicholas and Elinor sat opposite their friends on these 'fashionable' wooden benches. She bit her lip, smiling at him coyly as she crossed her legs, giving him a flash of the top of her stockings before she adjusted her dress, leaning forward and stretching her back so it curved.

Carl was astounded at her brazen behaviour, going so far as to tell her so. She merely shrugged, taking a sip of her cocktail and biting off an olive between her lips. The boys went to get another pitcher, and Elinor slid her hand along Nicholas' thigh.

"I can't wait to get back to the hotel..."

She was a vision of sexy silver and hints of pink as Carl helped her with her coat. Nicholas realized he was in for a long night of delightful torture, and Elin didn't disappoint. Nicholas caught Alfredo's eye and smiled as he made the quip about his erection. He gave a sly smile and a slow nod to signal that he'd read his mind.

Nicholas watched Elin savour her food as he dug in and enjoyed his fried teriyaki style salmon and his dessert of créme brûlé. The food was well made and tasty, if a bit on the conservative side. Elin had put her foot down when Carl and Alfredo had started arguing over what cuisine to enjoy this evening. She had picked a restaurant at random and told them in no uncertain terms that this night SHE was in charge.

Her moans as she ate her dessert were very distracting, and Nicholas thought he'd caught a wickedly teasing smile from her when he looked in her direction. He could only smile as he blushed and tried to shift in his seat, his erection making him squirm as she did her best to arouse him.

Later, at the cocktail bar (Carl and Alfredo had had the good grace to ignore his bulging pants as he hastily put on his coat when they left the restaurant,) Carl seemed shocked by Elin's behaviour. Nicholas could only giggle a little self-consciously as the alcohol coursing through him made him lose some of his inhibitions. He loved that she teased him and he couldn't wait to see what more the evening would bring.

Then Carl and Alfredo went for more to drink and her hand was on his thigh as she told him "I can't wait to get back to the hotel..."

He placed his hand on the inside of her thigh and started stroking up past the top of her stocking as he leaned in and whispered in her ear: "You'll just have to wait, Elin. But whatever you do, hold on to that thought. God but you're sexy!" On an impulse he nibbled her earlobe, being careful not to bite down on the earrings. Then he slowly kissed his way from her ear down to her collarbone. She rewarded him with a sigh and a sound between a whimper and a moan as he teased her right back.

They separated as they heard Carl's voice arguing some point with Alfredo as they returned with a new pitcher. As the newly engaged couple sat down, a look of understanding crossed Alfredo's face as he watched Nicholas' and Elin's flushed faces, but he said nothing. Carl on the other hand: "Have you two crazy kids been making out? Your cheeks match your earrings now, sweetheart!" Nicholas couldn't help but chuckle a little at the friendly display of bitchiness from Carl.

Alfredo gave Carl a little slap on his shoulder, eliciting a gasp from Carl. Nicholas laughed even harder then. Laughter took hold of him and he couldn't stop. He couldn't ever remember being this relaxed and happy with anyone. There was the alcohol, of course, but there was also the little speech Alfredo had given him earlier and Elin's persistence in flirting with and arousing him. Added to this were the comedic stylings of Carl, and Nicholas was lost. He laughed so hard that they stopped and looked at him. Tears filled his eyes and Elin seemed to realize there was more to this than just Carl's antics. He locked his eyes with her and his laugh slowly subsided as her eyes seemed to hypnotize him. Then he leaned in and kissed her, not caring at all about the little gasp from Carl. Wen he came up for air he grew almost solemn as he looked into her eyes. "I love you so much, Elin." He gave her a slight peck on her forehead, then turned to Carl and Alfredo. "And I love you guys as well. I propose a toast! To new friends and new beginnings!" They toasted and drank.

Nicholas spent the rest of their time at the cocktail bar passionately discussing with Elin and her two friends. Sometimes he weighed in with his opinions, other times he just watched the other three discuss and talk. He had a flashback to the first time he'd seen Elin, sitting in that bar and discussing with her friends while he stood on the outside and yearned to belong to such a group. And now he did. He decided against sharing that little gem with them. It could serve to remind them of the reason he'd become their friend. And no matter how you looked at it, she would always be reminded of what almost happened that night when she looked at him. Maybe she w- NO! Stop thinking these thoughts immediately! He chastised himself. He'd gone through this in a slightly different form with Alfredo already. She was a decisive woman when she needed to be, and if he upset her by reminding her of that night, she'd have done something about it, he was sure.

He looked up and caught her staring at him, his broody frown apparent for all to see. He just smiled apologetically. "I'm sorry, I was miles and miles away just now." He noticed Carl and Alfredo had gone to collect their coats. "Is everything all right, Nikolai?" she asked, looking at his thoughtful face. There was real warmth and concern in her voice, and Nicholas grew even fonder of her then. He cupped her jaw with one hand and stroked her cheek with his thumb. "I was just thinking a problem through, Solnyshko. I'll be more sociable from now on. I just needed to set a few things straight. Everything's all right. Everything's BETTER than all right, in fact. I'm in New York on new years eve with the most fabulous woman in the world and her two friends."

She blushed a little at that and started mumbling a protest, a protest he stopped by leaning in and kissing her full on the mouth, a kiss that grew in intensity and length until he heard a slightly inebriated faux-bitchy voice proclaim: "What do you think, Alfredo, do we need a crowbar to separate these two!?" They reluctantly separated, adding just a few more kisses as they smiled and giggled when their heads slowly withdrew.

Alfredo helped Nicholas with his coat without saying a word. When he was done he just stepped back and looked Nicholas square in the eyes, a look Nicholas returned. He was calm, compsed, and happy. Alfredo just nodded, a hint of a smile on his lips. He leaned in and said "Just remember what we talked about, Nicky!" Nicholas gave a curt nod and returned his attention to Carl and Elin. Carl was chastising Elin for messing up her make-up and her hair with "that boy". Elin just gasped before leaning in to whisper something to Carl that left him blushing and speechless.

They left the cocktail bar and walked in pairs, embracing each other. Nicholas' heart was at peace as he felt her lean on him as she walked on stilettoed heels. Carl and Alfredo walked in front of them, muttering and caressing each other. Nicholas stole as many kisses and caresses from her as he could get away with, and she returned the favor. Despite the chill winter air, Nicholas felt warm and giddy when they arrived at Times Square. They stayed on the outskirts of the large crowd that had gathered there, Nicholas assuming a more protective demeanor as Elin started getting attention from other men. There were mostly stares, but also one or two wolf whistles and comments. Nicholas stared down the worst offenders easily enough, though, and they were left in peace as the countdown started.

10! New beginnings. With her. He was giddy at the prospect.

9! He loved her. She loved him.

8! A new year and a whole future stretched in front of them.

7! He hoped they would be together for the rest of their lives.

6! They had some tough times ahead of them still, what with the trial and the continued work of coping.

5! But tonight was just about love, friendship and newfound bliss.

4! It was too early to propose to her, but he started making plans as they counted down.

3! A quick peek at her, and he met her eyes, her face a big loving smile.

2! He returned the smile, his heart making a glad jump every time he saw her happy.

1! They leaned in and hugged, their mouths only inches from each other's ears.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The crowd roared as they whispered in each other's ears the same cheerful sentiment. He held her head and kissed her deeply as everyone around them gave a roaring rendition of "Auld Lang Syne". Time seemed to stand still for them both. Nicholas didn't even flinch when the fireworks started going off, something he'd had problems with before. The only thing that mattered to him was the woman he held in his arms, their kiss ever deepening.

Her overcoat kept her warm as she huddled close to Nicholas. His arms were around her protectively and she was grateful for it. Some of the other revellers were looking at her and it made her a little frightened. She stayed close to Nicholas, and Carl and Alfredo were right beside them as everyone began cheering for the countdown. Everyone was clamouring for someone to kiss at the chime of midnight, and as the countdown passed four, she looked up.

Nicholas was looking straight at her and time stood still. Their arms were around each other and she smiled at him. He looked so calm and strong as he smiled back at her. His eyes full of knowledge, compassion. For a moment she thought about the year to come. The trial, every arduous bad day that she would struggle through, every long night she would suffer nightmares. But then there were the mornings that he would be there when she awoke, the times they would laugh and cook together in the kitchen. The year wasn't just about the trial, it was about loving him, too. They had a future together. Maybe marriage, maybe travelling, maybe a family. As the countdown hit one, she wondered if he wanted all that too. If he wanted her, broken as she was.

When he whispered 'Happy New Year' in her ear, she whispered it back, her voice wavering. He took her face in his hands and shattered her uncertainties with a kiss that seemed to block out time itself. Through the blackness of her closed eyes, she could see the flashes of the fireworks and their explosion made her jump. His arms circled around her, shielding her from the loud noises and from every harm that might come. Her own arms encircled his neck, their kiss deepening as they held each other tightly. Tears rolled down her cheeks and her breathing hitched.

He looked at her quizzically. "What is it?"

How could she tell him everything? How thankful she was for that cold November night that he had rescued her. For every night he had ever coaxed her through the dreams. How he had held her hand while she slept in the medically induced sleep. How he had been there in the snow when she was falling apart. How much she wished she could show him how much he meant to her...

"I just, I just wish you could know how much I love you, that's all," she whispered as his thumbs brushed the tears from her cheeks. Thank god for waterproof mascara. She smiled a little as he kissed her again.

They stayed in the Square for an hour or two, dancing and shouting, until Carl eventually decided to be the responsible one and call a cab. One from the hotel turned up, and dropped Nicholas and Elinor off before leaving Carl and Alfredo back to Carl's sisters. Everyone was pretty drunk, and when they entered the foyer, Christiania was smiling at them.

"Happy New Year, Miss Mironov, Mr McKenzie." She pressed the 'call' button on the elevator.

"You have the night shift?" Elinor asked.

"I do, miss. I decided to give the regular night duty the evening off. He worked Christmas, so I don't mind."

The elevator arrived, and Elinor hugged Christiania. "Thank you... You're always smiling, I wish I was always smiling..." She stumbled into the lift, wobbling on her heels. Christiania leaned in, pressing the penthouse button.

"Goodnight," she said as the doors closed.

In what seemed like a flash, they opened again and Nicholas took two attempts to open the door with his card key. And then they were inside. Elinor immediately kicked off her shoes and went to the kitchen, demanding water. She filled a pint glass and drank from it thirstily.

"My daddy always drank a big glass of water when he was drunk, because it means you pee more in the night and then the drink goes out of you and you don't have to be so sore in the morning," she explained, holding another glass out at Nicholas. Water sloshed out of it all down her dress. "Oh, I need my night dress." She downed the rest of her water, spluttering a little before heading to the bedroom.

When Nicholas entered a moment or two later, he found Elinor sound asleep, curled up in a ball in the top corner of the bed, on top of the covers, and shivering. Still fully clothed, her makeup smudged around the eyes. Her earrings glittered and she whimpered a little, twitching slightly in her sleep.

"I just, I just wish you could know how much I love you, that's all," she said, mirroring his sentiments exactly. "I know how you feel," he answered, kissing her again to try to convey his own feelings. "I love you so much I think my heart will explode." She smiled back at him then, before hugging him. The hug turned into a dance. Then Carl and Alfredo came, making a dancing circle that attracted more people. Several men tried to break in to the circle and hold Elin's hands, but she was well protected by three friendly but strict gentlemen looking out for her wellbeing. Carl on one side and Nicholas on the other with Alfredo as a loyal backup made the perimeter of Elin nigh on impregnable.

Then the circle broke and everyone started dancing in pairs or by themselves. Carl and Alfredo hovered near Elin and Nicholas, interposing if any men approached Elin or any women approached Nicholas, leaving Elin and Nicholas in a well protected cocoon where they only had eyes for each other. In the back of his mind, Nicholas reminded himself to thank Carlfredo properly for all they'd done for them.

In the taxi home, several messages started buzzing in. The only one he answered right away was from Erin. Thank you for letting me borrow your apartment while you're away, big brother! Lady is fine but she misses Elin. I had mom and Bart over for dinner, and mom got tipsy and started crying over dad and you. Seeing you again meant so much to her, but she feels bad about what you've gone through. She still blames herself. You know how she gets. Give Elin and Carlfredo a hug from me and tell them I'd very much like to see them again. Oh, and happy new year to you all! Erin

Nicholas showed the text and hugged them all from Erin. Then he answered her: "Happy New Year, baby sister! We're having a blast in NYC. Is there anything you want from the big apple? Except big apples, smartass? Let me know! *hugs* Nicholas".

They arrived at the hotel and were efficiently and very friendly hustled upstairs by the ever perky Christiania. Nicholas muttered something about dim lights and too small slots as he tried to slip the keycard into the lock. After downing a glass of water she went to bed. Nicholas stayed up and composed a nice New Years greeting to his mother. When he entered the bedroom he found her on top of the covers, fully clothed and asleep. He couldn't let her sleep with that dress, soaked with water. He shook her gently. "Elin, Solnyshko, you can't go to sleep like that, sweetheart."

A protesting groan answered him as she curled up and muttered "go 'way. 'm fine!" He persisted. She moaned and sat up reluctantly, her face all scrunched and squinty from being sleepy. He helped her up and helped her undress. She was too tired to be shy, it seemed. But she was grumbling and pouting as he helped her slip out of her evening clothes and into a big t-shirt. He let her keep her panties on and managed to cheer her up a bit as he helped her with her stockings. He peeled off the left stocking and planted a big wet kiss on her knee, making her giggle.

"I can't help but admire such fine shapely knees," he said with a goofy grin on hi face. She just said "you're silly," clearly pleased with the attention. Then the other stocking followed suit. He planted a big kiss on that knee as well, eliciting more giggles from her as he roared "Ah! The most perfect knees in the world!" He smiled up at her. She still looked tired, but she was smiling. He took her hand and helped her off the bed before pulling the covers aside. He tucked her in and went about hanging her dress up to dry. Then he stripped down to his boxers and lay down beside her. He kissed the nape of her neck as she slept, and whispered in her ear. "Good night Solnyshko. I love you more than life itself. May your dreams tonight only be pleasant ones."

He held her tight to him and listened to her sleep. She made little clicking sounds every time she inhaled, he noticed. He kissed her neck again, muttered a last "love you", then sleep took him. He had no bad dreams.

Her dreams were pleasant ones, and even though she woke up horribly nauseous, she was happy. Elinor got up, staggering to the bathroom where she got a quick shower, dressed in the t shirt again and crawled back into bed. She snuggled up against Nicholas and buried her head in the pillows.

He was chuckling at her hangover and she pouted, nudging him with her bottom.

"Stop laughing at me..." She frowned and rolled onto his chest, nuzzling him. "You are so mean..."

Elinor bathed in the light of his smile as he kissed her head. She groaned, clutching her head and moaning about a headache. Glancing at the clock, she realised it was after eleven in the morning.

"Ugh..."

As Elinor went to get a shower, Nicholas called room service and ordered breakfast to be delivered in half an hour. She was out of the shower in less than ten minutes. She groaned and clutched her head, complaqining about being hungover. Nicholas laughed a little out of sympathy and just because she was so darn cute.

"You are so mean..."

He just chuckled. Her tone told him she wasn't serious. She turned around and melted his heart again as she gazed into his eyes. He gently kissed her head and slipped ut of bed.

"I ordered brakfast, by the way. It'll be here in about 15-20 minutes. More than enough for me to shower and shave." He went to the bathroom, but stopped in the door and peeked around to say: "Love you, Solnyshko!"

He showered quickly and gently shaved. He put on his sweatpants and a clean t-shirt after applying deodorant and a little cologne. As he exited the bathroom, room service knocked on the door and he went to fetch their breakfast. He'd ordered omelettes and bacon, as well as bread and jam, a pitcher of freshly pressed juice and a large pot of tea. A small basket of assorted fruits topped off a sumptuous breakfast.

"Breakfast's on, sleepyhead," he announced as he re-entered the bedroom with the rolling tray. He set the plates and started heaping food on them. "Eat hearty Elin. I distinctly remember some... teasing last night. I don't want you with a hangover for later!" He gave her a wicked grin and a deep kiss before he started tucking in.

Elinor sat crosslegged on the bed and started to eat the breakfast he was setting out. She leaned forward, lifting the teapot and pouring the tea out, savouring the warm smell. She drank it down first, groaning as it warmed her, and then tucked into her omelette.

When she spoke, it was around a mouthful of food. "So what are we going to do today? It's our last day in New York. Opera tonight? I brought a dress specially for it. But it's up to you. If you want we can go throw rice at pigeons and watch them explode." She giggled, putting a forkful of bacon into her mouth and screwing her face up at him, smiling.

"And teasing? I don't remember teasing you at all... Maybe that was Carl..." She giggled, drinking all of her orange juice and then having an apple, slicing it over some bread with jam. She ate it heartily until she flounced back on the pillows, proclaiming she was full. "I am full up! I think I will sleep until I recover," she announced, pulling the covers up over her head and mock-snoring. "Oh loooook... I sound like Nikolai... Snoring like a wildebeest..." She laughed, muffled under the covers.

"So what are we going to do today? It's our last day in New York. Opera tonight? I brought a dress specially for it. But it's up to you. If you want we can go throw rice at pigeons and watch them explode."

"We can see if they are playing Mozart's Die Zauberflöte anywhere. Then we can watch birdcatcher Papageno and poison his birds? Two birds with one stone, so to speak."

He sang a few strands of Tom Lehrer's "poisoning pigeons in the park" in between mouthfuls of delicious food. He watched in mock horror as she sliced an apple and placed it on top of the jam before pompously announcing that fruit and bread should be kept separate. Except bananas on Nutella, of course.

She pulled the covers over her and started making fun of his snoring. "Snoring like a wildebeest," indeed...

He dove under the covers while yelling "better to snore like a wildebeest than fart like a hippo!" as he placed his mouth on her belly and blew raspberries on her smooth and taut skin.

Elinor squealed as he blew raspberries on her stomach, and wriggled madly to escape his grasp but to no avail. She playfully slapped him on his arm.

"I do not do that!" She exclaimed in horror. "And who eats bananas and Nutella anyway?" She retched in disgust and rolled on to her stomach, tangling herself in the bedcovers and struggling with laughter.

Nicholas was laughing too, and he lifted the breakfast tray and plates away before harassing her some more. She was giggling and squirming, and almost ran out of breath before she collapsed back on the pillows, her cheeks flushed, her eyes sparkling like her earrings. His hand was touching her side and she felt hyper aware of him. They were both panting and she smoothed down her hair.

"I have bed hair," she said quietly. He smiled and nodded.

And then he kissed her.

This moment was one he'd treasure and remember. Her playfulness and squeals of laughter warmed him immensely. It felt good to just let go and be childish with her, and he spent several minutes chasing her around the bed and tickling her until she lay beneath him, flushed and panting, with sparkling eyes and a smile all over her face.

She selfconsciously tried to smother her hair, commenting on it as she did so. She was seriously cute and sexy, and Nicholas couldn't help himself. He leaned in and kissed her in a deep smoldering kiss.

He lay down next to her and pulled her over to her side to face him. "Bedhair or no, you've never looked more beautiful to me, Solnyshko." He smiled and leaned in to kiss her as his hands started roaming over her body and under her t-shirt.

He broke the kiss again and smiled as his roaming hand gently started caressing one of her breasts. "See what teasing me leads to?" He gently kissed her on the neck, eliciting a sound between a squeal and a moan from her.

Elinor gasped as she felt the pad of his thumb graze over the skin underneath her breast. Her body froze at his touch. He whispered into her ear.

"See what teasing me leads to?"

Her entire body quivered and she squeaked as his lips found her neck and kissed her, suckling her skin as his hand held her along her ribs, his thumb stroking her. She pushed his hand down to her hip as his fingers tickled her skin.

"Teasing you? I don't know what you mean..." She wriggled under him, hitching a leg up and imprisoning him. "You should behave yourself, Nikolai." She rolled her hips, feeling his hardness blossoming. It made her gasp and she made a slight little noise. "And what is that?"

"What that is? That is my new years present to you. Hope you like it." He smiled as he slowly thrust back against her crotch. His penis was rapidly stiffening, and she shivered as he brushed against her.

"As for me behaving? What," he kissed her on the mouth, "will happen" he kissed her neck, "if I don't," he kissed her collarbone, "behave?"

He looked up at her and then slowly, deliberately, leaned down and clamped down with his lips on one of her nipples through her t-shirt. He let his tongue slowly run over the erect little bud, scraping the fabric of the shirt over her nipples as he engulfed it.

The hand she'd placed on her hip started traveling to her panties. He placed his hand gently but firmly in her crotch outside her panties and started to slowly rub her vaginal lips and clitoris. After a while he let go of her nipples, leaving two wet spots on her t-shirt as his mouth traveled down her belly towards her crotch.
