Stryder's house of romance

We would have a long conversation😊 So, a bigger book fan or movie fan?

To be honest? I was amazed at what Peter Jackson was able to bring to life on the screen. But nothing, absolutely nothing, can compare to the depth of Tolkien's writing. So books it is. To create what he created? To give life, history and lineage, and individual language to so many different races of beings? He was a true genius. :rose:

Agreed😊 I enjoyed the movies, but they were never quite right. I'll go back and read the books again. I love getting lost in his world. I always find new things.

Christopher Lee used to read them once a year and said he always found something new or something he had forgotten. He wanted to play Gandalf, but I think he made a better Sarumen. I find I will open LOTR on my Kindle and go to a random page about once a month.

Yes, he was an excellent Saruman. Once a month? really? That's cute. You have made me want to start reading again. The books are within reach. No kindle for me. I like the feel of the book in my hands. 😊

I love the feel and smell of an old book. You should see my Tolkien shelf. But the Kindle is so convenient. I have highlighted a lot of things I like to revisit.

You are right. The highlight feature is quite nice. 😊

It made me curious to see what I had bookmarked. The first I ran across...
"Few other griefs amid the ill chances of this world have more bitterness and shame for a man’s heart than to behold the love of a lady so fair and brave that cannot be returned."
*sigh*

Very nice....great choice🌹

Hi Stryder! I hope you are well, my friend!

Okay.. Let's start a conversation then. When was the last time someone did something romantic for you? And what was it?
On Monday I came home to a clean house. That was incredibly romantic to me anyways. It allowed me to have a stress free day off. That meant a lot!
So....where'd ya go?

More Tolkien romance...

The next day at the hour of sunset Aragorn walked alone in the woods, and his heart was high within him; and he sang, for he was full of hope and the world was fair. And suddenly even as he sang he saw a maiden walking on a greensward among the white stems of the birches; and he halted amazed, thinking that he had strayed into a dream, or else that he had received the gift of the Elf-minstrels, who can make the things of which they sing appear before the eyes of those that listen.

For Aragorn had been singing a part of the Lay of Lúthien which tells of the meeting of Lúthien and Beren in the forest of Neldoreth. And behold! there Lúthien walked before his eyes in Rivendell, clad in a mantle of silver and blue, fair as the twilight in Elven-home; her dark hair strayed in a sudden wind, and her brows were bound with gems like stars.
