How it had happened I had no idea, but the travel company had fucked up, big time. I had been to China, to an Expo, representing an electronics company. And some dumbass back in the office had changed the travel plans, as they needed me to stay on a few days, and I would travel home via LA.
It all sounded fine in the email, until I got to LA, Friday noon.
"Hello Sir, your connecting flight to London leaves at 5.30 PM, on Monday."
And it was Friday, and there was not a damn thing that anyome could do, so they said. I phoned the office, all I got was "get a room, come back on Monday David."
So here I was, checking in at the Chesterfield Hotel, without a clue of what I was going to do for three days. The girl on the desk seemed OK though, and hoping that she was one of those Americans who actually liked us Brits, I decided to see if she could help.
"Excuse me asking Miss, but I have a little problem, and I was wondering, if you might be able to advise me?"
"Sure Mister, what is the problem."
"Well, it probably sounds stupid, but I am now stuck in this city till Monday. I do not know a soul, have no idea where to eat, where to go. Is there anyone, or maybe some organisation that could assist me? I would be eternally grateful if you could help me Miss, I really would."
