Why didn’t he just say hi one time when he passed her? Eric and Sarah had been best friends until they were thirteen. She was the first girl he ever kissed, but now they weren’t even talking to each other. He knew he should just say hi, it wasn’t like they had a huge fight and suddenly stopped talking to each other and besides it had been more his fault than hers.

Sarah Hill was a cheerleader and the cutest girl in school at least according to Eric. She was among the most popular girls in school and he’d been in love with her ever since they had shared that first kiss back when they were fourteen. His family had just moved to a bigger house and was just about to leave for Sweden for the summer. His mom was Swedish and they usually went there every summer. They came back one week before his first semester in high school started. He had been too nervous to call her when he came back and when school he hadn't talked to her for a month. It became obvious that she would become one of the most popular girls and that he was a geek. He felt bad for not calling her and a part of him had been afraid that she wouldn't like him anymore now that she was popular. Still it would've been so much easier if he had talked to her back then.

Now they hadn’t talked for three years and it would be even more awkward if he said something to her now. Eric Hamilton wasn’t unpopular, but he was a bit of a geek and his dream of becoming an accountant like his dad was something that people liked to tease him about. It wasn't something that impressed the girls either, but he liked numbers and he liked school. The friends he hung out were the same; they took school serious and had very good grades. He didn’t look bad and among the more studious girls he was quite popular, but he was still hung up on Sarah.

Eric and his friends ran a board games club and they had borrowed one of the classroom to play in after school. The teacher that ran the club was pretty cool, but he had started to get irritated when they ran a bit over time. They had all been in a hurry to pack everything together when they left and Eric hadn’t realized that he had forgotten his bag in the room until he reached the parking lot.

It wasn’t a disaster and he could always get the bag back on Monday, but he wanted to study some during the weekend and for that he needed the books. He tried checkingthe parking lot to see if the teacher was there, before he made his way back inside the school. The room was closed when he got there and there wasn't anyone in the the staff room either.

“Fuck,” Eric thought to himself. .

The teacher had obviously left and he would have to go back home without his bag. Eric tried to open the door when he reached the exit only to find it locke. The other door was also locked.

“What the fuck?” he said out loud, feeling a bit of panic.

He tried the door once more, he really didn't want to get locked in. The school had more than one exit and there was still a chance that they might be open. He started running towards the other exit, hoping that whoever was closing the door was still there. Just as he rounded a corner he bumped into someone else. At first he didn’t see who it was, only that it was a girl.

“Sorry for bumping into to you, but that door is locked and unless we get to the other door in time we're going to get locked in,” Eric said rushing out his words while he helped her gather her things and it wasn’t until he looked up that he saw who it was.

“Sarah?”

Eric completely froze; he had one of her pens in his hand while he continued to stare at her. He hadn’t talked to her for a very long time and now he had done it without realizing it and for some reason he couldn’t stop smiling at her.

Sarah had got her own way after Eric left that summer. She had always been an active girl, interested in sports and dancing, especially dancing. Though with Eric she held that part of herself back as she knew he was not that kind of guy. They were good friends and she missed him a lot for a while. Sadly the memory of him got pushed further and further back into her mind as high school went on. When Eric left for the summer she became free to explore a part of herself she kept separate from him and she absolutely fell in love with it.

Dancing, cheering, watching football, it all became a big part of her life. She fell in with the popular crowd, the cheerleaders, the jocks, all the most attractive and all that shit. When Eric did reappear she felt bad for ignoring him. He had been her best friend her whole life, but she really liked what she had become and knew that Eric wouldn't fit in as a part of it. As much as she wanted to remain friends with him, she couldn't. She had to cut him loose. When she saw him in the hall she had to ignore him, for his own good really. She knew that many of the people in her circle would tease and bully Eric if he was brought to their attention so she made a point to pretend he wasn't there, even though she saw him every single day.

Fate was an interesting thing as it turns out.

It was a Friday early in the football season. Sarah was sad because she knew that this was the last football season she would get to spend with her friends. She had gotten accepted to Stanford on an English scholarship, where she hoped a new chapter of cheerleading and football awaited her. She had certainly grown into a beautiful young woman and she had the looks to make the cheer squad, and the talent, at least she thought she did.

The weather was shit this afternoon so the squad had decided to cancel practice this afternoon. Sarah and a few of her friends where standing out front of the school talking about plans for the weekend. Kyle Marks was having a big party tomorrow night because his folks where going to be gone for the weekend.

Kelly was avidly trying to talk Sarah into going, "Come on Sarah it'll be fun."

Sarah shook her head, "I have a test Monday that I can not be fucking hung over for. Plus you know those parties are just going to be a bunch of guys trying whatever they can to get laid. I've been hit on enough this year okay."

Kelly rolled her eyes, "Just because you had a bad boyfriend doesn't mean that they are all bad Sarah, sometimes you just gotta get back up on that cock."

Sarah laughed, "You skank."

"You're jealous." Kelly said, putting a hand to her breast, "I am a sexual girl that's all. I feel very comfortable in my own skin."

"Yeah and covered in cum." Sarah mocked.

"That only happened once! You promised not to tell anyone about that." Kelly gasped.

"Right." Sarah nodded, "Oh shit!" She cried suddenly digging into her bag. "Fuck! I forgot my notebook in my locker!"

She darted for the door, when Kelly stopped her. "Sarah they are going to lock the doors like any minute. Get your book Monday. Who cares?"

"No I need those notes for my test Monday. I can't study without it. Fuck I gotta run. See you later Kel." Sarah pulled away from her friend and ran her ass off.

She hussled through the halls and hit the locker room door with a bang. She was in such a panicked hurry that her fingers fucked up the combination lock a couple of times before she got it open and grabbed her book. She ran down the hall again, fighting with her bag to get her notebook inside while at the same time dig out her car keys.

A thud and a heavy impact sent her tumbling onto her ass. Her things spilled out of her bag and she rapidly tried to gather them, while at the same time a boy was apologizing to her.

She glanced up when he called her name. The boy was Eric. She had bumped into her old friend in her hurry to get out before the doors got locked.

"Eric." She said, working up a weak smile. "Wait the door is already locked?" She stuffed her shit into her bag and scrambled to her feet. "We gotta run Eric come on!" She cried running for the other door.

Sadly that one was already locked as well. She shoved on the handle and banged on it in the hopes that it would open. "FUCK!" She screamed. "This cannot be happening. I can't be stuck here all weekend." She slumped against the door sadly.

”Is anyone here?” Eric screamed as loud as he could, but the only answer he got was the eco of his voice.

He tried the door once more, this time with more force and he even gave it a kick before giving up and turned his attention to Sarah. He felt a bit nervous just talking to her since it been so long, but he didn't have much of a choice either. Besides he had wanted to talk to her for so long that he almost felt thankful for this opportunity. Still he probably wanted to spend the whole weekend in school as much as she did. Just as she had made a lot of new friends so had he and he had planned to get together with them tonight and go see a movie. There was still more than 3 hours until they were supposed to meet up and Eric doubted they would be stuck long enough for him to miss it.

“There is no way we’re going to be stuck here all weekend all we need to do is find someone who can open the god damn door. I’ll just call my mom and she will find the out the number to the principal and call her and she will either open the door herself or find someone who will. We’ll be out in an hour or two tops,” Eric said in an effort to comfort Sarah before picking up his phone.

“I’m just going to call her,” he said as he waited for his mom to answer.

Eric quickly explained the situation once she answered and she promised to help them right, which calmed him down. Besides spending an hour or two with Sarah wouldn’t be so bad. She had such wonder eyes and her smile was contagious, it had always been that way and he dreamt so many time of kissing her lips. If they just talked for a while then maybe rekindle some of their old friendship. His mom broke of his thought as she said something that really caught his attention.

“I heard on the news that they warned about a blizzard hitting us at midnight, but you should probably be home before then. I’ll try to find someone who can open right away, but if it gets too late you might have to spend the night.”

“Love you mom,” Eric said before hanging up and then he looked outside. It had been windy the whole day, but now it had started to snow and the wind seemed to be stronger as well. The blizzard could very well hit a bit earlier than expected and then they would be stuck here until it passed over.

“Fuck!” he said and he could see the worried look on Sarah’s face.

“She’s going to find someone who can open the door, but there’s a blizzard coming, it was supposed to hit at midnight but now it has started to snow. I think it might hit a lot earlier than that and unless someone comes soon we might have to spend the night here.”

There was still time for them to make it home, but there was no way he would be able to go to the movies tonight. The snow would put a stop to that.

Sarah was in a panic, she tugged rapidly on the handle bar of the door. "No no no no no come on no!" She yelled, beating on the door as if her tiny frame could somehow break the door down.

She spun to Eric as he took out his phone to call his mom, "Yes! Call someone, great idea Eric." She said with hope, but as she listened to the phone call her gaze went out the window. Her stomach sank as she saw the snow starting to fall, if it picked up too quickly, they were going to be stuck all night. Maybe all weekend.

She slumped back against the door and sunk down onto her ass, sitting against the door. She listened to Eric talking about what his Mom was going to do, and she knew that his mother could be counted on to handle things. Eric's mother was a woman who got shit done, always was. Anytime the kids needed to get somewhere or get picked up, his mom was there to save the day.

But the news of the snow storm coming definitely made it seem like they were not getting out of her anytime soon. "Great, just what I've always wanted. Stuck at school, I can't believe this shit. Why can't they just lock the doors from the outside so that people can still leave?" She asked.

She sat in silence and thought about what they could do. She thought about the windows but she knew that they had put bars on all the windows to keep the frost at bay during the window, which also now served to imprison them to the school.

"So Eric, how...ummm...how have you been? Since we are going to be here for a while, we should catch up." She suggested looking up at him.

Eric just moved his arms in a motion that said he didn’t know. It should be possible to get out of the school. It was like a prison and the weather outside continued to get worse, maybe they really were stuck.

"So Eric, how...ummm...how have you been? Since we are going to be here for a while, we should catch up."

She still sat with her back against the door as she talked, looking up at him with her beautiful blue eyes. Just looking at them made him feel warm inside and after hearing her question he realized that he didn’t know what she had been up to either. He knew she had dated some guy from the football team, a real asshole according to some of his friends that knew who he was.

“I’ve worked my ass of this year to make sure I get into the school I want. I might even become Valedictorian if I keep my grades up, so in short I'm doing pretty good” Eric said.

He didn’t mean to brag, but he was proud of his achievement and he wanted her to know that. It had been his goal from day one to be the best student he could. Most of his friends were the same way and they helped push each other even further. Eric still hadn’t made up his mind which college to go to, but he leaned heavily towards Harvard at the moment. The only other option he considered was Stanford, but his father had gone to Harvard and had laid out a pretty convincing case about the institution.

“Come on let’s find somewhere more comfortable to sit and you can tell me what’s it like to be a cheerleader,” Eric said and held out his hands to help Sarah up and suddenly they were standing very close to each other and he couldn’t help noticing how good she smelled. Even her skin looked flawless this up close and it reminded him of the last time they've been this close. That time they had kissed, but now they hadn't talked for over three years. Still when he looked her in the eyes his whole body screamed at him to kiss her.

Sarah smiled up at Eric as he bragged about his grades and hard work. She remembered how book smart Eric had always been, he picked up on things so quick in classes that it made her wonder if he had known the information to begin with. As she listened to him she took note of how good he looked, not the strong jawline that many of the athletes had, but he had a sexy smoothness to his features. In a way she thought he had the same kind of good likes as guys like Orlando Bloom.

When he suggested they find somewhere a bit more comfortable to sit, she realized her ass had damn near fallen asleep sitting on the damn tile. Smiling Sarah stood with Eric's help. They were very close suddenly and Sarah found herself looking up into his eyes. She smiled and took a step back, wiping her hands on her ass to brush off any crud from the flooring. "That's a good idea, let's go sit in the cafeteria." She suggested, picking up her book bag.

"That's great Eric, I'm happy for you. You always had the big brain between us." She said as they walked down the halls. She found her palms sweating and she wondered why she was so nervous. Eric and her had been very close before high school. She remembered everyone assumed that they would be boyfriend and girlfriend before they knew it.

Yet it never happened. Sarah never understood why. Hell she didn't even know what happened. She found herself falling in was a completely different circle and the rest was history. Now that she was walking beside him, she felt bad they had grown apart, her mind kept going over all the fun they used to have and she realized that she had missed him.

"I've just been cheering and what not. Hanging out with people, going to parties. I guess you could say I've been doing the social stuff while you do all the learning." She said glancing sideways at him.

Eric was surprised how comfortable he felt around Sarah, he still felt nervous but there was also that sense of familiarity that made him relax. He knew he could joke around with her without her taking the wrong way and it felt really good to talk to her again.

“…You always had the big brain between us.”

Eric didn’t agree but didn’t say anything; he had always thought she was just as smart as him. He had been better at math, but she was better at English. Their teacher had loved them in middle school and told them how cute they looked together. He eyes kept being drawn to the girl walking besides him and wondered what had happened. It had supposed to be them, but now high school was almost over and this was the most they had spoken since it started. He wanted to reach out and grab her hand and hold like they had when they were kids. People had teased them even in kindergarten how they would end up together, but it never happened. Maybe this was their chance to make it right.

“…been doing the social stuff while you do all the learning.”

He could see Sarah looking at him and when their eyes met it felt like a bolt was going through his body and he had to look away. “Oh god, she is so beautiful,” Eric thought to himself and he started to feel more nervous again. He hadn’t realized just how much he really missed her until now.

“I’m almost fully learned now Sarah, just a couple of more years at college and I’ll know everything there is,” Eric said in a joking tone, even laughing a bit at the end.

“And with your look and charm we could be the most perfect duo ever: beauty and the brain,” Eric continued grinning at Sarah. “I know who the beauty would be in the duo, but you could just as easily take the part as brain too. Unless hanging out with all those jocks and cheerleaders have started to affect your intellect. You have always been the smartest girl I known; just don’t tell that to my mom since it would kill her,” Eric said winking with his eyes at the end, while feeling a bit embarrassed.

He liked her for her and always had, but she really was the whole package and there would always be competition for a girl like that. Still he wondered if the other guys at school saw her for who she really was and not just as another pretty face. Not that he could blame them, the way she looked and moved in her cheerleader outfit was enough to make any guy fall head over heels for her. He hadn’t known what a good dancer she was, he knew he was a bit biased but to him she was the best cheerleader in the squad.

Brittney smiled at his compliments. He was always so good at making her feel better about herself. To him it was probably a small thing, but it meant a lot to her. She gave him a soft smile and kicked herself inwardly for cutting him off. Even if she was on the popular side of the fence she could have at least said hi to him. She could have kept in touch after school instead of shuttingnhim out in an effort to remain popular. It made her feel like shit.

They got to the cafeteria and found a bench near the Windows. To their dismay they saw that the snow had picked up and was now falling in heavy sheets. "Oh no!!" She cried and pressed her face to the window. "Fuck me." She moaned and slumped into a seat on the bench.

She looked at Eric and said, "Well we are officially fucked. There won't be anyone coming in this." The worst possible thing that could happen to a teenager was missing a weekend. How would she take a shower or change her clothes? She supposed she could use the locker rooms but there wasn't any soap so it would only be getting wet. Not actually showering.

"I don't suppose you have any board games in your bag to help kill time?" She asked him looking his way.

“Fuck me.”

Eric knew she didn’t mean it literally, but it still made him lose his breath. Just the thought of it was making him feel excited and he wished she had been serious. Even in a situation like this he couldn't stop thinking how much he wanted her.

When Eric looked outside it started to dawn on him that they were actually going to be stuck here over night. He would be alone with Sarah the entire night; he gulped at the thought while listening to what Sarah had to say. She was right; no one would be coming if it kept snowing like this. He knew she had given up when she asked about the board games.

”They are locked in together with my bag, so we are going to have to keep ourselves entertained some other way,” Eric told Sarah, before his phone started to ring.

It was his mom again and she didn’t have good news, the principal refused to go back to school to open up and the janitor didn’t even have a cell phone and the weather would soon make it impossible to reach the school with a car. She could only confirm what they had suspected they were going to be stuck in school the entire night.

“We really are fucked Sarah, if we’re lucky someone might come in the morning to open up. I don’t feel that lucky, but it could be worse. Imagine being stuck here alone.” Eric said the last part as he sat down besides Sarah and laid his arm around her shoulders and pulled her in for a hug in an effort to comfort her.

Sarah felt all hope leave her body as Eric hugged her. It was nice to be held despite the shifty situation. She remember snuggling against him during movie nights at his house. Eric always had a higher body temperature than most people because of the elevated iron levels in his blood. She liked that about him, it always felt like a warm teddy bear to cuddle against him.

She smiled and shrugged, "So stuck and board. Well this is going to be the longest weekend ever. I am so bailing on Monday's classes." She confirmed. Then she had a thought. "Eric? What are we supposed to do about food all weekend? I mean we need food right? I don't think I could tAke being hungry that long."

The only hope they had was that the kitchen wasn't locked so that they could at least eat. Even if it was shitty school food. She glanced up at him and said, "We should check it out."

The door to the kitchen was closed like every other door he had tried so far, but the lock looked far from impressing. It was old and when he studied it he could see one of the latches.

“I think I can get it open, me and Mark one of my friends tried to open different locks for fun last year and got quite good at it. It would be easier if I had a knife, but I might be able to get it open with my credit card,” Eric said while picking up his wallet.

He had to try for a while since it was much harder with a card, but eventually the door opened and he turned to Sarah with a huge smile.

“I guess we should be thankful that the locks are just as shitty as the food. If only the locks at the front door had been as crappy as these ones. Now let's see what the house has to offer.”

"Why don't we try to make it a bit nicer by finding some real cutlery, napkins and even some candles if we're lucky enough to find them. If we make it nice enough we could even call it a date," Eric said, feeling a bit nervous.

It was the closest he'd ever been to asking her out and all he had to offer was the crappy food from the school cafeteria.

Sarah chewed her lip while she watched Eric pick the lock with his card. She didn't know where he learned how to do that but she was greatful when the door popped open. She smiled and laughed as he suggested they make a date of it. Eric had probably wanted to go on a date with her for a long time. As she thought about it, she realized that if Eric asked her to go out she might actually say yes.

She nodded, "Okay sure." She let Eric handle the food while she darted around school looking for things to use to make a proper dinner table. She brought a white sheet from the science lab along with a beaker clamp. The cloth covered the ugly green table that normally served the students and she downloaded a candle appears on her phone then clamped it in the beaker clamp, holding it aloft like a candle. .

The only silverware she could find was oversized serving utensils and plates but it was better than the plastic trays and sporks they normally used. "Alright Eric, I think that is the best I can do with this stuff." She called smelling the food he was cooking. It already smelt way better than anything they were normally served.

Eric started with the dinner while Sarah worked on setting up the table. Much of the food didn’t look to appetizing, but after finding some fresh vegetables his hope started to rise. He had already found some chicken and decided to make a stew. Eric liked to cook every once in a while, but he was more used to making pies than stews. Still after adding some cream and spices it actually started to smell really nice, but it felt more like luck than anything else.

He even managed to sneak away to the vending machines and buy Sarah’s favorite piece of candy while she was away. Eric even had time to prepare a salad and he was just about to call out for Sarah to tell her it was ready when she returned.

“Wow this actually looks really good, I’m impressed. I just hope the food is up to par,” Eric said to Sarah not able to hide his smile.

He pulled out the chair for her and invited her to sit down, they had got some beverages from the fridge and it actually started to feel like a date which made him smile even bigger.
