Cocks have their own unique scent. I like that and I actually prefer that he not be fresh out of the shower. It adds to the sensory experience. But that his different than someone who doesn't maintain basic hygiene - that is unappealing.

As for size I would say 8"-10" is ideal. I have learned to deep throat and I love to challenge myself in that regard.
