In Canada while technically we vote for a local representative the fact is that most people are voting for a party. Most Canadians don't even know who the local representative is for their party (makes no differences as they just toe the party line). This is why each name on a ballot has the part name beside it, so when Harper went against Trudeau, people who wanted Harper as PM looked for the name on the ballot that had "Conservative" written beside it, and those who wanted Trudeau voted for the name with "liberal" beside it.They voted for their Representatives. They got those Representatives.
I do believe that... case in point... YOU!Yes, 'attack' the US by deploying 'message board trolls' on an obscure, heavily left leaning Literotica politics forum.
I'm not sure what is funnier: the actual concept or that you may actually believe that.![]()
Typical MAGAt response from a typical ignorant MAGAt.Kiss my ass, Ms. Rhea Tard.
I've never liked it, and really wish MP's could face recall. It's something provincial and many muncipal governments have. But I'm not going to shed tears for a party that shot themselves in the foot.I fully held the cons responsible for voting against that. The question is do you think it is right or do you think it is wrong. Would you feel this is OK if the cons won a minority and used floor crossers to shift to a majority?
You're long winded. Truth is, your reps did something you didn't like. Vote for better candidates next time.In Canada while technically we vote for a local representative the fact is that most people are voting for a party. Given that a majority government has very few checks and balances, while a minority government does, I know for a fact that liberal voters would justifiably be outraged if the cons won a minority and then shifted that to a majority by bribing MP's across the floor. I'm familiar with how your system in the US works, so I don't know if I can come up with a comparison, but this is a poorly written law that was not properly thought through. In the long run I suspect both liberals and conservatives would be better served if there were better checks and balances on floor crossings. The first step in my opinion is for Canadian liberals to stop seeing conservative voters as their enemy and just see them as neighbors with different opinions on how the country would be best served, and who like them just want the best future for their kids. It requires this us vs them mentality to stop and for greater civility in discussing politics.
Would you be OK if the party you voted against pulled this off? You're long winded. Truth is, your reps did something you didn't like. Vote for better candidates next time.
What you should shed tears for is that if it can happen to conservatives, it can happen to liberals. If you would not want the cons to use floor crossers to gain a majority then you should oppose it. I always call out wrong behavior even when the party I voted for does it and the only people impacted are the people that voted for the party I voted against. I never hesitated to call out Harper when he pulled a scumbag move. I just wish liberal voters held their party to the same standard.I've never liked it, and really wish MP's could face recall. It's happened quite a few times. They rely on constituents to lobby their positons.Would you be OK if the party you voted against pulled this off?
