Tales from th lost city

“There are some protein bars in the backseat” Edward called out smiling as he turned another corner “So there you go you want some thing more filling it’ll be after the mission think of it this way every second that we are there is another second the butcher can be there” He said reminding him of what was at stake.

“Let us just finish the mission okay” Jack said leaning back and shuffling the cards on his deck “That was we can relax and eat besides we are almost there” He said pointing at the GPS.

Quinn grabbed a handful of the protein bars and ate the begrudgingly. "A burger would've been better." He muttered gnawing on a bar, his rat teeth making quick work of the snack. As they drove forward Quinn stopped eating and dropped the protein bar onto the floor. He hung his head out of the window his nose twitching as he sniffed the air. "We're close. Do you smell that doggy? It's like..." Quinn took a deep inhale "burning candy? No. It's burning..." He took another sniff "I don't know. It's sweet smoke I guess. Turn left up here boss man, it's coming from that way."

About to cross the street, Ash was lucky he looked both ways this time. The SUV would have plowed right into him, the annoyed driver looking at an ugly little mouse of a man, even under the hoodie he was wearing, Ash could only cringe at the kid’s face. Poor guy.
He was on his way to trade for some needful things, hoping to bargain for what they didn’t cost in exchange for a few things that were almost worth what they were.
With the street clear, he crossed, walked a block and before he could turn the corner, a neon sign caught his attention. A glowing straight to the ace of spades was in front of him, the ace card burnt out, but the rest still worked.
Go and trade or a few games of chance?
He took out his lucky coin and gave it a flip. It was heads and with that, he crossed the street to the poker club. After all, rent was due.

“Then this is where we get out” Edward said pulling to a stop and paring the car. He nodded at Jack and stepped out pausing to radio in their location. A backup team would be on standby since this was a Templar hideout they would be more than enough. He made sure his side arm and backup side arm were secure before turning and waiting for the other to join him. Jack came out first sliding his cards into the feeder and nodding that he was ready.

“Were just here to look people” Edward said “We’re not exactly the most nondescript bunch so I suggest we split up Quinn your going to be doing the most work so check it out and report back to us I’m going to see if I can get eyes on the roof Dawson and Jack you guys can stay on the ground”

Bell's tongue lolled out of her mouth as she panted before sniffed the air, barked and turned to run. She knew Lam would want to talk, but she figured they could do that once they got to her den. She would stop and make sure the vampire was keeping up and then keep running and they made it to her appartment in no time. a few blocks away she shifted back to human form and continued walking. Once Lam was next to her again, she smiled.
"This is it." She said in pride. She led the vamp inside and to the elevator and inserted her key to the penthouse suite. Once the doors opened the truely fresh air rushed in and hit them and her smile got bigger. the room was dark until she found the switch and turned on the lights. It was litterally a den. Most of the windows had been blacked out and those that weren't had black out shades to keep any light out unless she wanted it there. The main room looked like an entrance to a cave with a tv hidden in one of the stones, and the stones across from it were actually like beanbag chairs. She had a couch in the corner that was very out of place in this natural habitat but she liked the look of it so it was there. the "Door" to her sleeping area was an actual cave that curved around to her room and just outside of it was a small waterfall and pool ensemble. She turned to see the vampire's reaction.
=====================
Dawson had enjoyed the ride there. It had been a long time since he had really had any other male company besides Hawk. and god knew where the harpy had gone in all the excitement. For all he knew he was back at his nest.
"I'll sniff things out." He said before digging into his pocket and retrieving a collar that read "Donny" and a phone number that when dialed, would signal the others of his pack. He put the collar on and shifted into wolf form before trotting off. He made sure to sniff at random things along the way, playing the lost pup perfectly.

“Hey wait up!” Jackie called running after the dog. He reached him and followed him playing the part of owner.

“Might as well play the part of your owner” Jackie said glancing at him “don’t get pissy with me about it either…. Consider me backup” He said looking around.

“I don’t see any thing that screams Templar hide out” Jackie murmured “then again if they were terrorist they would probably be hiding in plain sight if they were smart they would have some way of blocking super natural skills as well” He reasoned stroking his chin thoughfully.

Eagerly, Jewel removed her robe and tossed it to the side of the bed. She'd forgone her battlesuit and now thanked the almighty for doing so. She made sure to remind herself to make a list of things to add to her prayers tonight. She had always been attracted to Gregor because of his power, but his body made her mouth water. It was hard to stay kneeling before him instead of going to him and running her hands over his hard chest or his strong arms. Instead she showed restraint an let him examine her naked form. As a last minute though, she took the scrunchy from her hair and let it fall to the middle of her back.

Lem tried not to be impressed by what was behind the elevator door. She actually did a double take, glancing behind her to make sure they were in fact inside and smiled when she knew for sure that they were. "I had assumed you guys preferred the outdoors but this is not at all what I expected," she admitted as she moved around the space, her hand tucked into her belt behind her. It was her neutral pose and she immediately put her hands down not wanting the shewolf to get the wrong idea. The last thing they needed was to get into it over a misunderstand so instead she stuck her hands in her pockets and went to the couch to sit, because she really didn't know where else to.

"No wonder you're in no rush to leave...when we get to my place you'll understand why I wasn't that keen on staying."

'Donny' 's mouth shifted to human long enough to say "remember, my name's Donny" then it went back to canine. Suddenly a thought occured to him and he held up a paw to signal Jack stop and wait. Dawson closed his eyes and focused on his fur, which began to ripple and change color. His front and back legs as well as his neck turned brown instead of black and he now had the coloring of a german shepard. With a dogs smiling mouth he grinned at Jack and continued on when curiosity got the better of him and he reached his mind out.
"So... gotta tell you it's weird to think of the Alpha with someone."

Bell laughed as she saw the vamp shift away from what looked like a natural pose.
"Lam, it's cool." She said as she moved forward to the center of the room to
'Absorb the atmosphere'. "I have a sense about people. and you ma'am are no more threat to me than i to you." She watched the vampire sit on her couch and went over to extend her hand. "I swear to you, here an now, that as long as you look after the team, my pack and i will be at your back whenever you have need of us."

“I like your hair down” Gregor breathed staring at her lush naked form. He felt the desire coursing through his body and bit back a moan all but towering over her in his naked form. He was eager for the tender flesh between her legs. He knew she was a virgin and the thought of bing the first to take her only further increased his frenzied lust most of the elves he captured were virgins as well of course when they gave him their virginity they didn’t give it to him as willingly as she was about to. A part of him longed for the other but then again he had a steady stream of virgin girls in the back to fulfill those particular needs. This was as much about breaking her as it was for him to enjoy after all.

He spread her legs “The almighty has blessed me with such a beautiful girl and a love” He said continuing the lie as he kissed and nibbled at her neck “now I must properly thank you” He growled into her ear as he brought her legs up and over his shoulders.

………….

He heard him and almost jumped before he recovered and pretended to be reading a magazine as he answered “Donny”

“Which means I can hear all of you guys” Jackie thought shaking his head “So why am I connected to the pack? I mean as far as I know humans cant communicate like this not unless there a werewolf as well I am most definitely not” He said looking around at the people and trying to figure out what was going on.

“Why is it weird?” He finally asked curiosity getting the better of him.

It had been a long time since Sarkalem had done anything like this but she knew that in order for them to be success as a team, the two of them needed to get to some sort of understanding between them. As far as she could tell there was nothing to worry about when it came to Bell, and by extension her pack. They had worked well together, and without issue. Funny the only person she had a problem with was that rodent but he was everybody else's problem now. She couldn't think of one reason not to trust this wolf, this woman.

"As long as you never, ever, call me ma'am again you have my respect," she said with a hard look as she took her offered hand. Then broke into a smile as she added, "But if we fight together, my dear will never be behind. At my side or no where at all."

Dawson barked happily at a passerby and pretended to want to play, but trotted back to sit next to his... ugh... "master's" side.
"The only thing i can think is you're connected to us because you mated with our Alpha." At that a thought occured to him. Female's were always the leaders of a wolf pack, and whoever they chose to mate with became the Male Alpha of the pack. That fact alone almost had him growling, but he wouldn't let that get to him. He respected His Alpha's decisions no matter what.
At Jack's question Dawson's panting stopped and he laid down, looking like a well trained pet waiting on the master's command.
"Bell should really be the one to tell you that." But after a second, he knew what he had to do. "When i met Bell, she was hellbent on vengeance." He said as he rolled over and let a passerby's child pet his belly. "The Bitch that shifted us all was out to change as many humans as she could into werewolves." He sat up and scratched his ear. "Turning Bell was her biggest mistake. See, she would turn them and move on instead of sticking around to at least see them through their first shift. Well when Bell shifted, she was with the first man she'd started to really fall for." He was silent a moment. "She killed him in that first bloodlust. Every one experiences it the first few times, but it tore her apart. She won't even talk about it." He was silent again but then he began panting again. "Thankfully Bell's path for vengeance brought her to all of us. She was there for the first shift in each of us. She helped us learn to control the feral side of ourselves. She'd take us on hunts and help us slake the bloodthirst on animals instead of humans."

Jewel's body shivered with the growl he emanated and her hands ran up his arms and down his broad chest. Nerves were easy to forget with his scent surrounding her and the feeling of power radiating from him. She leaned forward and lightly bit into his shoulder, tasting the salt of his skin.

He listened pointedly ignoring Dawson’s feelings about him being the Alpha whatever. He wasn’t looking to lead him any ways at least not at the moment, this was all very new to him and he was still struggling with his feelings. It was weird to feel like you were destined for some one but not actually be in love with that person. So far she was perfect for him and he had no doubt that there was osme thing pulling them together but….. Jackie had never been in love before at least not with any girl. He was a romantic in that way, he did believe in love and even in one true love but he didn’t know if she was it…. Even though every thing in his body was screaming that she was the one.

He listened to his tale learning and nodding. It fit with the vibes Jackie was getting from her yesterday. There was some thing about her some thing that said she was some one who was careful and for a good reason. He didn’t know about all that however he was tempted to ask him what the male’s name was but wisely decided Bell would tell him when she was ready.

If she ever did at all

“I don’t have any intention of hurting her” Jackie said looking over at him “nor any intention of lording over you I may not know about all this fate and destiny but whatever happens I like Bell and don’t want to cause her any ill will”

“Guys” Edward said breaking up the chat “I think I figured out where the Templar safe house is the penthouse on the corner I think its some kind of rest stop for them”

A smile cracked across Bell's face at the Ma'am comment, but she outright laughed with the last one. "That i will agree to." She gave her hand a strong single shake and then went off to change. She continued to talk as she did so. "So i'm willing to bet you have something on your mind, and above all those, i'm willing to bet Dawson's one of the more president ones."

Dawson's ears pricked up and he took off to the corner, picking up a cup and begining to throw it in the air. looking back at Jack like he wanted to play.
"He's right! This place reeks of those guys."

"Oh where to begin," Lem said as she leaned back on the couch, making herself comfortable as she stared up at the ceiling that look an awful lot like the sky. This place confused her in the most amazing way, but she had to stay focus so out came her cross and she began to swing it winding it and unwinding it around her finger.

"Yeah sure I guess we can start with your beta. Where in the hell did you find that one and how did he know how to talk to? Granted I was on my way to cooling down as it was but still, he sped that along pretty well. After that you can tell me what you know of the not wizard, but since you're so good with people then I should assume he's trust worthy since you've already mated," she said with a raised eyebrow. Lem hoped Bell didn't think she was judging her, since she herself had done pretty much the same thing. "Not that there's anything wrong with that," she added as an after thought.

At a random poker club . . .
This was his kind of place. The waitresses wore short skirts and pasties shaped like card suits over their nipples, but there was no need for the assless pants the waiters wore. You had to take the good with the bad, luck had a way of shifting on a person; rarely did it run even. At least they weren’t in short shorts.
In front of Ash was a stack of chips he was steadily increasing and as it grew so did the hard stares and smoke clouds blown his way.
It was a dive poker club, much like a seedy bar, with dim lighting and neon, a haze of cigarette smoke drifting above the patrons like a dirty storm cloud. He added his own smoke to that cloud every now and then—he was trying to cut back, smoking would kill him one day.

Quinn steeped out of the car and pulled up his hood to hide his snout. He watched as Dawson and jack walked off together. He ignored them and tried to find the orgin of the scent. He quickly turned around, his nose in the air. "They just lit a new batch!" He thought excitedly as he followed the scent. He walked forward to a penthouse. "That's the place." He thought shifting into rat form. He hated leaving his weapons and clothes but it was easier to sneak as a rat.

Quinn snuck through the front door easily avoiding attention as he ran towards the elevator. He uses an old trick he learned a long time ago and wriggled through the doors and into the elevator shaft. He quickly climbed the elevator shaft until he reached the top floor. He sniffed the air identifying the strong Templar scent. "This is the place." He thought wriggling through the door.

As Quinn entered the door he noticed a key pad next to the elevator that would keep it locked from the outside if someone didn't know the code. He quickly ran to the wall under the keypad and chewed a small hole. He then gnawed through the wires connecting the keypad to the elevator. "Quinn one, Templars zero." He thought shimmying his way through the Templars penthouse front door.

Quinn quickly ran down the hallway counting seven Templars in the living room. He crawled under a door and found himself in a bedroom occupied by a sleeping Templar. He quickly shifted to half form and ripped the sleeping soldier's throat out before he could wake. He shifted to human form and stole a pair of pants and a gun from the Templar's closet. He then pulled a cellphone from the dead mans pocket and texted Edward.

"Yo boss man. It's Quinn. I'm in the penthouse. I fucked up the elevator lock so you can get up. There's at least seven. Probably more. Get up here before they find me."

"Well Dawson was the first one of my kind i met." Bell said as she pulled her clothes out (A long sleaved forest green V neck and a pair of hip hugger bell bottoms). "See he'd been a donor to a small group of vampires and was pretty much learning their ways before..." She paused, deciding to move past that. "Before he was bitten by a werewolf i was following." She started changing. "He could understand most of their language by that time, and if i'm not mistaken, the bitch turned him about a day before the clan was going to." She came out in her new outfit and sat on the couch opposite Lam. "I was right behind the bitch and ended up helping a wolf in bloodlust fend off 3 vampires." She leaned back and looked at the ceiling. "Since i was also in wolf form, he tried to take control and dominate me, and nothing was going to stop me, so i pinned him and bit him behind the ear until he submitted." She smiled at the memory. "As soon as he calmed down he was just a playful pup until his human side regained consciousness. Those that were left of the Vampire clan understood, but they cast him out and with no where else to go, we teamed up to find the bitch."
"Jack." She said with a touch of protectiveness. "His name is Jack." And a blush spread across her cheeks. "Let's talk and walk." She said as she stood and headed for the elevator. "Call it what you will. Fate? Destiny? Just plain Pharamones? I don't know but i know i'm supposed to be with him." the blush grew stronger as she remembered the other night. "Ussually a werewolf mating with a human is just sex. I've met other packs in my years and they've had their own human toys, but nothing ever happens like what happened last night." She looked at the other female and decided to clarify. "When we mate, our minds meld and we're not just two people having sex, we become one being of mind body and soul. At that point i was jack and i knew how... I felt and he was me and knew how he felt." She scratched the back of her head before pushing the button for the elevator. "THat's the best i can describe it."

Cleaner's Tavern 248 East 49th St.

Blylock Sumkin took the stairs down from the 9th floor. The hallway is dark. He hears voices coming fron the ground floor tavern. He changed out of his normal heavy leather and into something lighter. The light fabric felt good against his roughened skin.

"Blylock Sumkin at your service ladies. Sorry I missed all the fun. I was doing inventory at Needfull Things!" Blylock say with his best orc smile.

Lem laughed a little at being "taught" something about werewolves. She figured she could get past all the useless exchanges of words if she told Bell a little about herself. It took her a moment to formulate how to say what needed saying without sounding like a dick but she gave up once they were halfway down to the lobby.

"Not for nothing," she said, her hands in her pockets still as she leaned against the wall and shift her eyes over at Bell. " I'm probably 4 times your age. I know your kind is slow to age like mine but still...you smell like youth. You all do so don't feel the need to explain every aspect of your wolf culture to me because, if we're being honest, I probably know more about you than you do. Like you know more about being human and living in this world than I do. Granted I was made but still this world is nothing like where I came from most recently, especially now with this whole team thing." All of it tumbled out of her mouth before the doors open and when they did Serkalem stepped out of the elevator, expecting Bell not to follow.

She smiled when she heard footsteps beside and moved a little closer to her. "And I assume by that silly look you gave me back there that little Jackie boy gave you the business," She said with a nudge of her elbow as she lead the way back to the street, heading in the direction of her place on 39th. It wasn't that many blocks but it was a world away from the glitz and glamour that surrounded the park.
