I hoped when the war started that it might lead to the toppling of the IRGC and the liberation of Iran. If it had I would have grudgingly given Donald Trump credit for pulling it off.

But Trump chickened out and abandoned both Israel and the Iranian people. His bumbling has set peace in the middle east back a generation.

Reza Pahlevi isn't his father. He's made it very clear that he wants to form a transitional government as a means of getting to a liberal democracy.

I never thought Trump was smart enough to be a kingmaker. But I did hope that the strikes in February had weakened the Iranian government enough that an internal uprising could succeed.

It might have happened if DonOld had let it happen organically after the bombings of the Nuclear sites, etc: But of course, DonOld had to make empty / false promises to the opposition in Iran about having their backs - which caused them to rise up prematurely - and then DonOld betrayed the opposition in Iran and let 40,000 of their most ardent members get slaughtered (See also: Venezuela’s opposition party has been largely crushed after DonOld betrayed them).
