Toddles, don't make me spank you.
If you look around, you'll see that EVERYONE who posts politically gets flamed. That includes Me, WriterDom, shadowsource, Cheyenne, lavender, miles, Thumper, PC, Closet Desire, and on and on.
Politics are an emotional topic. You post almost exclusively about politics. Ergo, it seems like you're constantly being flamed. Does this mean you shouldn't post about politics? Of course not. Post about whatever you want to post. But understand that no matter what post you make politically, half the board will flame you.
Someone said (KM maybe?) that this board was mostly atheists and liberals. I disagree. I think it's a microcosm of society, and it's pretty evenly split. At least half of the regulars in political discussions are conservative to some degree, the other half are liberal. Of the folks who stay out of the the political threads, I'd say that the same holds true. The median age, I'd say, for a poster is above 30. Most have kids. The non-sexual discussions here tend to be (no offense) fairly mainstream, and whenever the sexual discussions veer off the "accepted" path, you hear "ooh, gross!" Check any Incest thread. Check any Fetish thread.
I do read ultra-liberal boards - as well as wandering over to hardcore right wing places like Free Republic every now and then - and I tell ya, this place is neither. I think it's well-balanced, with particpants on each side. The problem with this is that if half the board is peach jelly and half is grape, those who hate grape are going to bitch because about the peach. But life isn't all one flavor. Doesn't mean you have to learn to love peach - you don't have to eat it at all - but you have to let those who do like peach enjoy it. Wishing it off the planet is narrow-minded and unfair.
What was I talking about? Oh yeah, Todd and jelly. Anyhow, go make yourself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a tall glass of milk and relax. Then decide what's more important to you: getting your ideas across or being liked. If the former is important, then keep on getting politically involved. If persuading people to your view is important to you, then work on making your argument less...argumentative and more provocative. Though I disagree with you on nearly every issue
