The Plot Outline

Chloe Collins (18), the daughter and only child of a rich businessman, had recently finished school and was ready for college. It is the day for reporting at college, but her father is busy with work, and unable to take her there. As luck would have it, his close aide and business partner Mr. Rogers (32) was traveling past the town where Chloe's college was, en route to a business conference in another city. Mr. Collins entrusts him with the task of safely dropping his daughter at her college.

They set off Mr. Rogers's car. It is boring to start with as they sit silently for a while. Then, trying to make the journey a bit more enjoyable, the older man tries to strike a conversation. It was a cold wintry afternoon as I drove my car out from my house to that of my friend James. I was dressed in an all-black formal business suit and was supposed to meet a few people tonight before the big meeting the next day regarding the $4 billion purchase we are about to make. It was supposed to be a big swoop in the business world and I was pretty confident the deal would be done for sure.

Though I was supposed to make the trip alone, James wanted me to take his daughter along. It was no big deal and I wasn't even thinking about it much. Better with someone than alone...after all it's a long journey of 6 hours...though I hope she is not too whiny or depressed - that would make it a worse deal.

I drove my car up to the Collins mansion and stopped a short distance from the main door. As I stepped out from the warmth of the car, my large frame shivered a little as I got used to the chill in the air. I walked up to the front door in a cool, professional manner and rang the bell. I waited, checking my watch - being an early starter, there was always plenty of it.
