Looks like I will have to start working at home.:( I have a small laptop with a small screen. What I would like to do is connect a bigger monitor, a regular sized keyboard and mouse to it. Then close the laptop and use it like a desktop. It does have a USB connector, and two USB's. Any ideas?:)

You could do that with nothing. It likely has a vga or hdmi or mini display or some form of video out. Just need the right cable to connect to the monitor and a keyboard and mouse.

Alternatively, if you will be moving often, a usb or usb-c dock may be better. Everything plugs into it, then you just plug it into your laptop. If you aren't going to carry it a ton, it is probably not worth it. What you are currently talking about is one cable and one adapter or 3 cables. Not a major inconvenience to not spring for a dock if rarely taking off the desk

Remember to change your power settings to do nothing when you close the lid when on power.

You'll need to keep your laptop from going into standby mode when closing it. But this can be done under power options.

If you don't already have a mouse and keyboard connected using USB, a Bluetooth enabled mouse and keyboard will keep you from needing those USB ports.
