Technology to Warm Amicus's heart

If this little gagit is adopted by the networks it may be the bigest mistake ever made. I can just see all the television watchers around the country just getting feed up with network tv and going out and reading books instead.

Then where will they be with those neat little thingies. Revenues drop 'cuz no one is watching and no one is buying anything advertised by them. The world of television is now in total chaos. Daytime soaps are cancelled, Opra loses all of her money 'cuz now on one reads the books she ok's.

The planet will spin out of control and down into the sun....OMG!

My cousins across the water - what a strange world you do live in! In my country we all pay for PSB (Public Service Broadcasting) by way of our license fee - no ads on the BBC cept for their own stuff!

But as part of that deal you get all 5 (give it a rest I know its a small number!) terrestrial channels too. Not bad I guess as most of the best TV comes from these channels.

I know you folk think of PSB as grubbing about on the muddy bottom of the gene pool but we dont. To be honest thats the way we look at all our aditional, digital/satelite/cable channels.

Och aye the nooooooooooooooooooo!

Heavens no. I miss the BBC. Wonderful stuff, and a model, really, of how a government-run program can do some great things.

If PSB is like our Public Broadcasting Service, I'm a big fan. Before cable channels like National Geographic, Discovery, Animal Planet, History, etc., came along, PBS was the only place we could really see that kind of content on tv.

The Connections series was a favorite - I loved the way they blended science and history and showed how their respective contributions are linked.

Oh. I thought you were writing about new technology to alert the government of South Dakota when a pregnant woman attempts to cross state lines.

Yeah...

I thought this thread was going to be about the Amicus's New Shiny Red Slap-The-Shit Out Of Her Rock-Em-Sock-Em Robot.

I hear it comes with a remote so he can stay a safe distance away.

Sincerely,
ElSol

Next: ads in books.
