Tell me something...

I honestly have no idea at all what I think of the death penalty. Sometimes I'm all for it and sometimes I'm totally against it. I think that we didn't give him the fair amount of time that we give every other criminal. But what can ya do?

Until execution becomes less expensive than life in prison, I just can't agree with it. I also think it's more torturous to be robbed of freedom than to be executed. Bah. I don't know.

We didn't give any amount of time; he was tried by an Iraqi court and sentenced according to their laws. I'd say he got what any Iraqi criminal would get, and probably a far sight better than he would have given.

I have an idea to make execution cheaper: Raffle off the right to pull the trigger/push the needle/release the trap door. I'd buy a paycheck's worth of tickets for that prize. I don't understand why they actually pay someone to do that. There are thousands of people who would do it for free. In fact, how do I get the job of executioner? What kind of resumé do I have to have to get to the front of that line?

The mayor of Las Vegas loves his martinis.

I love this guy. I don't even drink, but I admire the hell out of someone in politics who sticks to his politically incorrect guns and does what he loves instead of what the polls say he should do. My hat is off to this man.

The line about "furthering education" is priceless.

I'm bored

It's okay, the boredom ends now. I'm on my lunch break and I'll be spending the next few minutes catching up and pissing people off.

As I understand it, you have to pick up your application, uniform, and government-issued scythe from Shin...

Course, you could always do it the Chinese way....Bill the family of the condemned for the cost of the execution. Not saying it's a good thing to do, appropriate, or "civilized"....

I'm pro-death penalty... but only insofar as it is not used as a deterrent, not used as revenge, not used to somehow "settle the score" or "get even" with the condemned. It should be simply treated as "Taking out the garbage." It should only be used in extreme cases....and I'm about to make a bunch of enemies here... not in cases such as rape, theft of physical property, or trafficing in contraband such as drugs.

Executions should definitely not be public spectacles - that helps no one.

I agree with the non-public, but our criminal system sucks. It is made for one thing only, money for Lawyers.

It's perfect because he's the Mayor of Sin City. I would be more shocked to read that he was teaching a course on cross-stitching or stamp collecting. :D

That sucks, Shin.
Want me to come up there and kick some ass? I'm only 5ft but I'm good with knees...

And speaking of sleep...does anyone else ever have that strangeness where you feel like you could sleep during the day and not at night?
I always feel like I could do very well with those periods of Alaskan daylight that go on for months.
The periods of constant darkness, however...
