On the ride into work, Jared thought over some possibilities for the coming weekend. The thought of being alone with Kali somewhere brought a smile to his face. She had just pulled into her driveway when she got his message, "sure, I would love that! Just name the place and I will see you there!!" she hit send and went inside to shower and change.

Jared texted Kali, asking if she'd like to have dinner at the TGI Fridays close to where she lived. He put the Softail in his stall, deciding to ride over in his Jeep Wrangler with the top down. They met outside and kissed before they took their seats and ordered a couple of cold beers while they perused the menu.

Jared had gone to some convention at Dove Mountain with Amy a year before. He couldn't remember who the sponsor was now but he had really enjoyed playing golf and going down the water slide while Amy did whatever she did at these boring conferences. It was pricey but he thought it was more than worth it. Jared asked if Kali would like to go there for the weekend. It would be nice to get away together after the long work week.

When he saw how happy she was that he invited her to spend the weekend with him he knew it was going to be fun for both of them. The rest of the work week could not go by fast enough.

Jared looked at Kali a little strangely. It was true that they had spent every night together for the past week, and he had not slept alone since Amy had left. He had to rearrange the furniture in their apartment sooner or later. But he had no interest in doing any of that tonight.

Holding her hands in his, Jared told her that he wanted her to come home with him. There was a college football game on, and the Diamondbacks were also playing a home game. "I don't need a night alone, baby. I'd much rather watch the game with you. If I'm home alone I might start dwelling on the past and I don't want that. I can't change what has happened before. But my now includes you, and I hope my future does too". Did he just say that? Was he getting ahead of himself? Was he rushing Kali faster than she wanted? Jared drove directly home and picked up a little. The dishes were in the dishwasher, clean but not put away. He found the ice bucket, a couple wine glasses, and a half-empty bottle of Finger Lakes wine. They wouldn't be staying up too late he figured. The night before had been exhilarating. Jared wondered if Kali was thinking some of the same thoughts that he had been having. When she had offered to give him a night alone, he hadn't really wanted one. It may be true that they had not been together very long, and it was also true that Jared was fresh out of a bad relationship. A relationship counsel might advise them to take it slow and get to know each other better. But they did know each other well and that was what drew him to her. He wondered if they were meant for each other all along, and he was just beginning to realize it.

The game was close for the first half but ASU returned the second half kickoff for a touchdown and pulled away from Oregon State.
