Hubby used to call me "red" when we were dating.

Never liked nicknames, always felt you should take the time to use a persons name, more personal.

Can't stand...honey, baby, suger, sweety. Yuck.

i feel the opposite.. anyone can call you by your name... even people who don't know you too well. But I think someone really has to feel comfortable with you and close to you to give you a nickname.. i really think it's somethin special

i've been called 'kitten' b4 also and i think that is just too sweet and cute! :)

Re: really? wow...

re: really wow - savage kitten

I would probably feel the same about nicknames, if my given name was over used. However, as a soldier, I am constantly called by my title, and as a supervisor I DON'T ALLOW those I work with to use my first name. So, it is a bigger sign of intimacy to be called by my first name, rather than a generic "baby, sweety, honey." I tend to prefer to hear MY name screamed out instead of an "oh baby" which could be just because he can't remember my name. lol.

I have a couple of persons that I call "My little one" and one special person I have baptised with a nickname that I found myself. And I'm happy that she like the name I found for her! :)

I have an older *ahem* friend who calls me Princess!! I love it!! Hate when others call me Princess!!

My boss calls me sweetie!! But he says im like another daughter to him!! Hell he brought me a dozen red roses when I had snickerdoodle!!

I have an ex who always called me Babygirl!! He was from Texas and the way he said it always made me melt!! Ok I honestly miss his voice!!

Hmm then theres this person who calls me Babe!! Love it!!

And Izzy calls me Hunny Bunny!! Love Izzy!!

It's not just the pet name, but how one says it.

A few years ago, a soap-opera character, I think it was on Days of Our Lives, called his wife Sweetness, and he said it in such a loving way as to make me envy her having so much love in her life (I was widowed then).

My honey-bunny generally calls me Honey, but in his deep baritone voice it sounds wonderful. Hell, ANYTHING in that baritone voice sounds GREAT! I say honey-bunny, or sweetie, in a soft, sexy voice that, I hope, conveys how deeply I love him.
