Texas is #1 . . . . . in pregnancy-related deaths

Omg that's not even close... I'd say 'nice try' but even that would be a lie.

We're obviously never going to change each other's minds on this topic, but maybe it was entertaining for the others on this forum thread.

Agreed. We will never see eye-to-eye. Simply because you base your opinion on rhetoric and falsehoods that you've been spoon-fed by the conservative media.

Disagreed. One more abortion debate is frankly boring for most people.

You are so wrong it's not even funny. Conservative republican governor with a conservative republican led house.

It's fact. In the last ten years, there has been an aggressive and successful push from the evangelical right to legislate abortion clinics out of business.

clinics pre and post hb2

Thankfully it was overturned. But the damage has been done. There are and will continue to be more "homemade" abortions in Texas. The numbers will rise. For one reason only. Because (most - ha) conservative men don't trust women to make decisions about their bodies. And even those that do, still vote for politicians that don't. Period.

I have never seen any reliable statistics, but I would say there are about as many women as men who oppose abortions. FWIW, I am pro-choice.

Statistics vary but it is showing an upward swing in support for pro-choice. However even then it is no landslide.

Regardless, it has been stirred up into a red meat issue. That's one of the things that angers me - the politicization of womens healthcare. It's become a fundraiser and a base motivator. And really, it's no one's business but the woman and her doctor.
