Have to enjoy the weather today... storms moving in tonight and getting cold again for a few days... Ughhh!

Come on summer... get your ass over here!!! Tired of the cold already!
 
Hey, Austin folks...I am planning a mini vacation over memorial day and I need to book my hotel, but don't know the area well enough to know where to book (not necessarily hotel names but what area of town....)

Help?

I'd suggest downtown, or along Lady Bird Lake, if your budget allows. It's central to just about everything, there's loads of good restaurants, entertainment venues and decent public transport to help you get around (but you can easily walk to most places downtown).

Stay away from E Riverside Drive, E Rundberg/Rutland and I wouldn't suggest any of the places along I35 either.

There are some nice places up in the NW (Arboretum area) and in the SW (along W Ben White (US290/Tx71)

Thanks...this is the first time back that isn't either a business trip and all scheduled for me or a college kid...
 
Since we're on the subject of travel - Is there anything special/fun going on in SA this weekend? I'll be staying up near 1604 & 281, but of course anything anywhere in town is do-able. Anyone have favorite restaurants, fun shopping, etc etc?

OH YES! So Boardwalk on Bulverde, is a food truck/trailer park area that is BYOB. Fun environment. It's off 1604/Bulverde. They have tons of different truck available.

Shopping tourist of course Riverwalk.
La Cantera- open mall, higher end items, tons of yummy places to eat there.

CBQ Eatery in Schertz/Selma area. 35N and 3009, yummy food, bbq, burgers.

hrmm... thinking....

Ya gotta try... El Milagrato Cafe... I :heart: this place and think every month.. I should just drive down there for breakfast. ;)

I am postponing my DFW trip a week...just don't want to mess with the race traffic.
