California can’t force Donald Trump to release tax returns, state Supreme Court rules

President Donald Trump won’t have to release his tax returns to get on California’s 2020 primary ballot following a unanimous ruling from the state Supreme Court on Thursday that invalidated a new state law.

Gov. Gavin Newsom signed Senate Bill 27 into law in July to compel presidential and gubernatorial candidates to release five years of tax returns to get on California’s primary ballot. Jessica Patterson, chairwoman of the Republican Party then sued the state.

The court ruled the added requirement for tax returns “is in conflict with the (state) constitution’s specification of an inclusive open presidential primary ballot.”

Trump conduct ‘beyond anything Nixon did’: House impeachment chair

“What we’ve seen here is far more serious than a third-rate burglary of the Democratic headquarters,” House Intelligence Committee chairman Adam Schiff said in a reference to the Watergate scandal that led to Nixon’s resignation.

“What we’re talking about here is the withholding of recognition (for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenksy) in that White House meeting, the withholding of military aid to an ally at war,” Schiff said.

“This is beyond anything Nixon did.”

How Trump came to believe that the Pentagon could not handle the cases fairly, and ultimately issue the pardons, reflects his tendency to accept the advice of people outside his administration. The president mostly left defense officials out of his discussions about the issue until a few weeks ago and told his top advisers that his supporters would back the move, according to five officials familiar with the situation.

Instead, the officials said, Trump discussed the issue with other people in his orbit, including Pete Hegseth, a Fox News personality who highlighted the cases on his show and described the service members as heroes facing malicious prosecution. Trump called Hegseth numerous times to discuss the issue and told others about the conversations, according to one current and one former administration official.

Senior defense officials, who learned about Trump's plan shortly before Hegseth's announcement, were convinced that Trump was being fed bad information. Two officials said one document that reached the Oval Office stated that the Afghans killed in Lorance's case were "gunning" their motorcycle at the soldiers - a point often repeated by conservative pundits. Other soldiers testified at Lorance's trial that the men killed were a couple hundred yards away and not on a motorcycle when the Americans opened fire.

There's a ruling coming down on Monday from Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson on whether former White House counsel Don McGahn, a private citizen, is required to comply with Congress's subpoena for testimony. Most people paying close attention believe this will serve as a guide both for whether Democrats will now bring down the hammer on other people who need to testify, and for whether John Bolton himself will decide to testify and give up all the information HE'S BEEN SAYING he has to share, or if he will just take his big money dollar advance to write it down in a book nobody wants to read, while America burns.

Trump just gave away the game on his bribery scheme in a live interview to baffled Fox News hosts

He began talking about the Democratic National Committee’s “server,” which Trump believes — as a part of an elaborate and debunked conspiracy theory attempting to exonerate Russia for its 2016 election meddling — is in Ukraine. On his infamous phone call on July 25 with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Trump brought up this conspiracy theory when asking for the key part of the bribe, an investigation into the 2016 election.

“They gave the server to Crowdstrike, or whatever it’s called. Which is a company owned by a very wealthy Ukrainian,” Trump said over the phone to the Fox hosts Friday. “Why did they give it to a Ukrainian company?” (Again, this server theory is completely debunked nonsense that not even House Republicans will defend.)

Donald the Deluded Dipshit thinks that someone would 'send the server' anywhere so it could be buried? Why not just pull the hard drive/s and send it/them to a local chipper? You know to conserve time, money, and possible interception?

‘The Senate’s in play’: Reeling GOP faces collapse into minority status as Trump drags party down

According to a report in Rolling Stone, there is a very good chance that the Democrats could take control of the Senate after the 2020 election as the impeachment of Donald Trump casts a cloud over the Republican Party.

The report — by longtime political observer Tim Dickinson — states, “the fight to wrest the Senate from Republican control — and oust Mitch McConnell as majority leader — is arguably just as important” as the battle to force Trump from office.

“Unless Democrats flip the Senate, the grand plans of the presidential candidates are dead on arrival,” Dickinson writes. “Capturing the chamber is just as crucial if Trump is re-elected; it would give Democrats control of the legislative agenda, budget, and judicial confirmations, ending McConnell’s reign as Trump’s rubber stamp.”

With the GOP holding a three-seat edge in the Senate, 53 to 47, Dickinson explains that Republicans have their hands full defending 23 seats to the Democrats’ 12.

If the Dem's can take over the Senate and hold the House, it will matter little if Trump is re-elected. WIth a unified Congress they can shove a Progressive platform up Turmp's butt and have fun doing it!

DOJ report clears FBI’s Russia probe of any anti-Trump political bias

Despite President Donald Trump ordering the Dept. of Justice to investigate the FBI amid false far right wing conspiracy theories the president himself has spread, the DOJ’s inspector general will issue a report clearing the Bureau’s Russia probe of any anti-Trump political bias.

The several-hundred page report will find that the investigation into Russia’s attack on the U.S. 2016 election and into the actions of Donald Trump and his associates was “legally and factually justified,” The Washington Post reports.

Or will Bill Barr just release a summery of this politically sensitive report?

Trump visited a hospital today for a non-routine, unstated reason.

My best guess is Trump was having a panic attack, brought on by news that impeachment inquiries have finally begun. The doctors probably gave him a sedative to calm him down.
