It is hard..... soo hard....I have had to grieve for things I wish were while they were still alive... and realize that things are what they are..... .

That last bit is when we finally finish growing up, methinks. Dr. Tyler is Googling all of her old college boyfriends and wasting a bunch of time engaging in I Wonder Ifs. Maybe it's part of beginning to circle the drain. I know that we examine our lives in the rear view mirror, but it's the Fantasyland aspect that strikes me as a whole big bunch of hypothetical bullshit. Then again, she hasn't taken up drive-by shootings, so there's that.

We occasionally get a tornado in Jersey, but I couldn’t imagine what people go thru on the Midwest and southern states that are tornado prone

We got that Surprise Earthquake 14 years ago. That was something else.

Yep... it is all about acceptance and my reaction to things out of my control..

My life would have been a lot different if I would have figured this shot out earlier....but alas hindsight is 20/20

Mine as well, but we can be thankful that we have found a Gooder Path.

Lately I have been waking at 2 am. Usually I can get back to sleep an hour later. My old dog wakes me up at 4 .

Now I am catching up.

Parents and parenting- I learned how to be a patient parent from dad, a fighter in defense of children from mom, not to be dramatic from drama mom, not to hold a grudge from a mother who held them for way too long.

Parenting continues even when they are adults. I worry and hold my tongue unless I see something that is self destructive. Watching their mistakes hurts but realize I had to make mistakes to learn too.

I agree, My mum was a 5/6 year old hiding under the stairs while the Luftwaffe blitzed Liverpool wondering if the next bomb was for her... no wonder she doesnt do fireworks!

My mother acts like the Japanese performed Pearl Harbor especially to terrify her. She was 9. She loathes the Japanese to this very day.

I agree.... my mum is now nearly blind and can just about get around. the deterioration over the last 12 months wrenches at your heart!
