The 50 Plus Cafe, Pub, All-Nite Greasy Spoon and Dive Bar

I have spinal stenosis, which is basically arthritis of the spinal column. The arthritis hits some of the nerve endings and really causes some pain, anywhere from annoying every day pain that’s always there in my SI joints to really painful sciatica “jolts.”

I agree with tweedle.

Working out, exercise, and being in shape definitely has helped me. Stretching is a bigee.

My discs between l5 and l6 and l4 and l5 are both in pretty rough shape - some bulging discs and other wear and tear.

Does anyone know the symptoms of arthritis in the lower back and how it’s different from lower back pain? Yes I have been having lower back pain especially in the morning and today it’s lasting longer than usual.
I think arthritis in a lower back can cause lower back pain, depending what type and where the arthritic joints are.

I'm kinda in a jam with my medical treatments. My primary care physician is a member of the Kettering Network.
A week ago it was the recipient of a Cyber attack which took out the entire network ie: phones, computers, diagnostics, everything, at least walkins are still available but any documentation is pen & paper for now. I can't even email my doctor. The news said it could be months before the system could be manageable again. I could go to a different hospital, but my insurance coverage might be out of network.

I remember the day i injured my back. I was fairly young. I didn’t pay much attention to it but over the years it hurt but not to the point i paid it match attention. As i aged it became more pronounced. I’ve tried chiropractic, orthopedic, several RFAs and cortisone shots. The MRI shows one disk slightly compressed and arthritis on both sides if lower spine. I refer to it as my “friend”. Always there and on occasion very irritating. The only thing I’ve found as a relationship is that the pain is proportional to my waist size. If i keep my BMI in check the pain is so much less irritating. I’ve also noticed that if i train with at trainer using resistance training the stronger my core the less the pain.
I read a book called The Barbell Prescription: Strength Training for Life After 40 based upon my experience i agree with the author. Even doing all of the above on occasion it still bites but usually is short lived. That’s been my experience. I have to admit on occasion the RFAs really helped allot.

Hence the quote “If i knew i was going to live so long i would of taken better care of myself”. Good luck.
From my favorite philosopher Red Green "Remember, I'm pullin' for ya," and "We're all in this together"

Yeah, I believe exercise is very important. Back is only part of the picture here, tho. There are some other issues, and the back issues arise from those issues (we think). It's pretty much constant due to those exacerbating circumstances. But, we are still trying to sort the whole thing out.

Pretty consistent weight training and cardio for the last 25 years. Sadly, I've had to back off of the cardio over last few months as things have deteriorated. The heart and lungs will do it, but the muscles won't. Had to back off on most of the weight training a couple years ago, although I still try to do light resistance training and core strengthening stuff.

Anyone else having flashbacks? If only it were that easy, right?

Oh no! I hope they figure something out soon!
Scary how we relied on paper and pen for so long and now that it's been gone only a short while returning to it feels like the Dark Ages once more. 🫂
No numbness. She went to the urge ent care. They are doing some tests for Lyme and also for a few other tick borne diseases
Sending positive energy your way for some good results. Those tick illnesses are no joke!! 🫂

Thanks. We do not know if it’s a tickborne illness or actually just something physical. My wife is very sensitive to certain things.

The massage therapist really gave her a workout and did a number on her arm. We’re both half convinced (and hoping) that it’s something muscular rather than something tick borne.

Are you familiar with Comfrey?... the old timers called it "bone knit" due to its healing properties.
It's the primary ingredient in the Dr. Christopher's ointment that I linked earlier.
I grow it as well. It'll take the pain out of a yellow jacket sting in 90 seconds.

I boiled my hand, like a pack of hotdogs once, to get a generator online for the ship's power. Not only did Comfrey ointment eliminate the pain, but it had new skin grown by the time the blisters peeled off.

Reflecting on a great week in Oxfordshire celebrating birthdays for both children. I thought I would let you have some archetypal pics of the Thames and the village my friend lives in.

Have some friends there. A bunch of them took a long ferry trip not too long ago. Pictures looked interesting. I'd like to see all of that some day.

Whoo... busy day... good, but busy
I had to look that one up... Fire Blanket
Nope. I was never going to get there.

Closest was "Men, while you're at the urinal, look for someone on fire, turn around, and do a good deed for the day".
(Yeah - that's wrong, too... you pee on jellyfish stings, not open flames... unless it's a weenie roast - everybody knows that )
Well followed the nurses advice and feeling a lot better today. I did eat a little so hoping the worst is over after a good nights sleep. I must thank you all for yoir good wishes.
:nana: Excellent news. So glad this cleared your system quickly.
I hope y'all don't think I'm "spamming" you... I'm just sharing information that might be beneficial to you, as it DEFINITELY has helped me and my friends/family numerous times.
It takes a village.
I'll take almost any/all tips and suggestions... I'll then evaluate if they're a good fit for my needs, but I'm open to hearing them. Thanks for passing along what is clearly a product that has had a positive impact for you and many others you know personally. That carries a lot more weight than a random 5-star rating online.
@Boat1
I hope you don't think I'm ignoring you. I'm not, I read your posts. I'm just occupied with Real Life right now, but I'm looking forward to talk soon....
🫂 Take care, Rj. That pesky Real Life can really get in the way at times. Do what you need to and we'll be here when you're free again.

Effen bugs are officially out in full force!
You ain't foolin'... tomorrow is officially Bug Hunt 2025 at Casa Likes. After finding no less than 3 spiders and a mess of cobwebs behind 1 piece of furniture in my bedroom... tomorrow is going to be The Clearing... including moving my bedframe, which is a full-size captain's bed made of solid oak. Beautiful but takes at least 2-3 people to move it.

Bugs beware - if The Treaty has been broken, the sentence is death ☠️ For I may be a scaredy 🐈 but The Handyman has no fear. :ROFLMAO:
