@HumpDayHoratio

What is the spirit of the bayonet??

I have no idea what spurred on this memory this morning.

As tankers, we only had to go through familiarization with the bayonet. I just googled it and I’m sad to learn that the army has ceased to do bayonet training since 2010. 🫤
TO KILL DRILL SARGENT!

It was a basic training block of instruction. I don’t remember seeing a bayonet in any actual unit outside of that. I’m sure there may have been some laying around the arms vault, but I don’t recall any in the field.

I need to charge my phone and start changing all my passwords. So I will be back in about an hour. Take care sub!
I got two of the locked out emails back so far. The other two are still working on an app that looks at webmail on my ipad. There is still hope.
My latest dilemma with passwords is access to my ssa reporting. I just want to see it not collect it. The new login loginDOTgov requires a cell phone # or land line. I don't have a land line. I use a voip number when a number is requested so that my cell number is not associated with my identity, finance, health... The new login verification does not believe its my number and disallows me to complete verification. I called lg.gov and never got an answer but from the Q's I answered in the phone maze they said I had to contact ssa directly. I have never had the number answered and have waited 3 hours while trying. So I went to the local ssa office. The guards said I had to call to get an appointment. I explained my issue and they said I could wait for a manager that walked by several times but would not recognize my presence or the other lady that was told to wait like me. I should have taken a photo. The waiting area was packed full. I saw 2 older couples that looked like they were from here. Also 2 older men with a daughter or son assisting them that looked like they were from here. The rest did not look social security age and were obviously English as a second or third language. Since I can't get an appointment I wrote a letter requesting assistance and CC'd the login gov entity as well.
I am reluctant to associate my mobile number to my ss. It is clear law that the ss # cannot in anyway be used as tracking by the government. Same as your license plate when scanned by ez-pass or the cops or now they have scanners at most intersections here. I am looking forward to this resolution. Wish I had a pocket full of money. Would love to see how a law suit like this worked. Last one I heard of was someone that sued Fairfax county for tracking plates with scanners and ezpass that proved they kept the records more than 6 months. Now these libs elected a communist governor that is planning speed cameras to be common place. More government tracking.
That's my rant this week.
And B2 i sympathize with you changing passwords. Specially now as almost every institution insists they can text you. I have to call the banks and trade co's when I want to change my password and basically threaten them refusing me as a customer because I do not have a phone number that can receive text.

My son told me to use a password manager. I should listen to him.
hmmmm Password manager. Some tool likely connected to the "cloud" that contains a list of all your user names passwords and connections in one easy to hack place. I haven't figured out how lifeloc is a good thing either. And they have been hacked in the past.

I think this weekend is the last of the really brutal cold for a little bit at least.
Yea. I am checking over and over I have everything I want. Only 45 on the 11th here. But just like when I lived in Jersey. You endure cold and maybe get some snow you can clean up without getting wet anytime you go outside for anywhere. Then it warms up and rains. Really shows you what cold feet are. And makes the car even creepier dirty. Don't bump it. Wear a glove when you use the door handle...

I recommend keepass. It has no cloud functionality so you have to move the database file to any device you want to run it on, and there is no help if you forget the master password, but unlike other password managers... I am looking at you, LastPass... it isnt one of the biggest hacker magnets in earth.
I've been running keepass for a long time. I've been running the portable version from portableapps.com. I guess they call it Keepass classic now. Not sure what the updated versions have added to them.

Just seems, slightly better to be running it portable.

But yeah, back up the database. And DO NOT forget your master password.
