The 7th Annual Literotica Awards Discussion Thread

Um, in the interest of brevity, I haven't LISTED all the problems I've had with Lit over the years, and nor have I gone into much detail over the 'straw that broke the camel's back'. So, BlackShanglan, your comment is staggering, and seems designed purely to elicit a response.

No. It is a statement of fact. I would not choose to post a public complaint about the persons running a bulletin board to that bulletin board. That would be using the resources I am insulting in order to convey my insult, which would seem to me to be in very poor taste. I have also adopted the policy of refusing to complain, publically or privately, of the actions of voters on my stories. That would only either encourage me to make excuses for my own shortcomings or give to the malicious efforts of a very few individuals an importance that they will never deserve.

I might observe that your treatment, which you characterize as outrageous, seems to me so reasonable and in all likelihood wholly fair that it would never have occurred to me even to question the changes to the votes. A change of .08? I've had stories drop twice that and stay down for months. The last obvious vote sweep on the Halloween contest dropped my story by about the margin you mention; you may feel free to show me where I have complained of it. I think it quite reasonable to assume that in the course of removing 54 repeat votes, the site administrators removed both positive and negative votes, and that the balance of the votes removed as repeats might just as well have been positive as negative. In fact, given that trolls tend to operate individually and fans en masse, it seems to me rather likely that the repeat votes would be extra 5's more often than 1's.

I cannot see that you in fact have "a legitimate gripe." Certainly most authors here have swallowed as much and more without complaint. If, however, I felt that I did have a legitimate greivance against the owners of the board, I cannot imagine attempting to resolve it by posting bitter complaints about them on a site maintained for free through their efforts.

Shanglan

Nor would I unless I felt I had a bloody good reason!

I know how things work. I KNOW what to expect and I KNOW when I've been shafted. I'm not completely clueless, and 'writing off' a complaint by saying, 'he's exaggerating' beggars belief. I mean, did you actually read what I wrote?

Treating grievances in the manner described above is almost Lit speak. 'Don't say anything, it upsets the children!'

I nominate Sir Nathan for 'The Most Extended and Overwrought Exit Scene of 2006'.

The same thing happened to me. My best BDSM story, The Gift, lost a quarter of its votes and fell way down the list in the process.

But I think the new score is more accurate. Some of the feedback I got told me the story didn't appeal to everybody. Usually because of its length or its 'cliche' nature.

I don't care. It's a damned good story and I've got a ton of good feedback on it.

P.S. I'm pretty sure the complaint about 'cliche' is code for 'not enough pain'.

Thank you, thank you. Accepts the nomination with a tear in his eye. :nana:

To respond to the discussion of porn vs. erotica, I write porn. Or smut, or dirty stories or whatever else you might call it. That's the stories I write. My poems are actually sometimes sentimental, especially some of the illustrated ones.

I had one monthly nomination for Non-Human, which didn't make the finals. I should have had one for Toys and Masturbation and I almost had one for Anal. The only nominatioin I ended up having is for an audible poem, which I have now included in my sig. I feel a little strange about that because I think of myself as being a writer of dirty stories with poems being something of an afterthought. :D

Lady Cibelle

I don't know if Lady Cibelle and I could ever be friends but she can be my editor anytime! Brutal, unflinching in her advice and criticisim. I love her!

Wow, I had no idea I was nominated for an award. I'm really flattered by that, especially given all the other amazing writers in the incest category (and throughout the site). Any voting process is of course extremely subjective, but it's an honour to be noticed even by subjective processes!

I'm not too late to the party am I?*chuckle* I only just noticed this thread.

Anyway I want to say a great big congratulations to all who have been nominated -well done, and I hope you're enjoying the experience as much as I am. :D

And the second part of my message is a great big thank you to all of you who've voted for me thus far and a "how the hell did that happen?" over me getting a nimination in the first place! *grins* To say I was surprised is an understatement!

Oh and thirdly -Thanks Laurel and Manu for all the effort you put in to maintaining this site and attempting to keep the punters happy, I for one greatly appreciate it :rose:

Congrats! To every one who votes, nominates, reads, or writes :rose:

I'm just going through and doing my votes now, and there is some seriously steamy stuff.

A :rose: for SN, because I can understand where you are coming from. I did have a query in my mind that works submitted in the later part of the year seemed to dominate.

goodluck everyone, and I hope those whose names aren't there this year, will be there next year!

Well, that's it! I think they're about to close the polls...
and I only came in second-last

Congrats in advance to all the winners!

It was a tough category, Muse :(

Obstinate Stain should have it's own special award, as far as I'm concerned.

It was also an extremely close race between 3rd, 4th and 5th place... could have gone either way, if you ask me.

It looks like today is the last day and my only entry is coming in a poor third. Oh, well, wait till next year.

Congrats, Charlie and the other winners. :)

So did I. It's still April 5th and I'm hours ahead of you guys!

Yes, April 6 is the last day for voting. I don't know how soon winners will be announced but most of them, including the one where I was entered, have been pretty much decided already.

Special note. . .Thanks to all the voters, readers, and Lit. I have had a blast writing and have felt welcomed here by most everyone. ;)

I was touched to be nominated and honored to be with such great writers that were in the categories I was in. Thanks again.:rose:

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!

Not only to the winners, but to the nominees as well.
And of course a big thank you for all who voted.

:nana: :nana: :nana:

I won two awards! *gasp*

Congratulations to all who won and were nominated. It's rough to write something and then put it out there to be ripped to shreds. Everyone who writes and posts here at literotica deserves a pat on the back for their work.
