The 80s

Good god - the 80's keep coming up ... what I recall is a clash between the old and the NEW ORDER (hence band name) for 80's fans) I can recount every hit song and every avant-garde one, what year, Imp? I am not FOND of the 80's, yet sadly lived it and more sadly remember it LOL :D.
 
I loved the 80s. My tastes were all over the place back then. I sang along and danced to everything that I heard, and I heards lots of things.

I remember:

1980: the year of the last legs of Led Zepplin - everyone still danced to Stairway To Heaven, but there was a newer album in a brown bag and the major slow dance was "All of my love" or something. Also Queen's WE WILL ROCK YOU plays in my mind those years. I need to think more about '81 and '82 because I was stoned most of the time, but I am sure I recall listening to Siosxie and the Banshees, and the Pretenders and Bob Seager and Phil Collins' In the air tonight', and the sex pistols and maybe talking heads, but I think I discovered them later. I do recall that MTV came online when I was in high school and what a high - I was 15 - Sting did a song with Dire Stights and The Pretenders had a hit that year (do not recall if it was Middle of the road or chain gang) Madonna was a nothing in 1982 or 83 although I recall her presenting a grammy - her and Cindy Lauper that year. 1984 - again do not recall because of drugs, sex and rock'n roll but I do recall in 1985/86 Bauhaus dsibanded and became Love AND ROCKETS, there was the FINE young Cannibals and also the the Chili Peppers came on the scene - they were a small LA band at that time - not known, but did shows naked anyhow. I saw the Psychadelic Furs and then 1985? The Cure and the Smiths were big - I do dont recall when Depeche Mode came on the scene - 88 is when I recall them, Samantha Fox, Robbie Robertson and Guns and Roses played on LA radio station all 1988 summer long - I recall that sickly enough. 1989? I listened to Sinead O'Conner a lot, Violent femmes and ...damn it's hard to recall everything, Imp.

The newer Led Leppelin album was In Through The Out Door and the reason for the brown bag was cuz there were multiple album covers and you never knew what you were getting until you bought it. THe tour was cancelled cuz either Robert Plant's or Jimmy Page's son died of an overdose. I remember cuz I had tickets to see them in New Orleans. It was a drag.

We Will Rock You came out in the 70's.

Madonna hit the scene in 1983 or 84.

If you met me? You'd never think it - but yes I enjoy discussing the era I grew up in. Like I said - I was way stoned for most of the 80's and what a great decade to forget! :kiss:

Ah, well you are older than me. :p I LOVED the 70's, but was still so young and innocent in those days.
