The AH as a School Room

Well, your profile doesn't tell me much besides that you are a anime fan.

OMG...I just checked out your poem, you have the words "fairy song" in it. I know you don't I?

I was going to go to bed, but this is getting interesting! :)

Who is it?! Who is it?! ;)

I keep on getting flashes of the AH as a grammar school classroom with us all as the student body: class clowns, flirts, bad boys/girls, brains, teacher's pets, greasers, nerds, truants, flakes; people smoking behind the building or passing notes in class, carving other people's initials on their desks or leaving tacks on the seats, stealing each other's homework or making faces when someone's trying to give a book report.

Who would you be in the AH classroom? Is that the same person you really were in school?

--Zoot?

Actually, I think its more like a highschool.

Now all you young men, come along with me, Ms. Sweet....

I think I reinvented myself at each "level"...

In grammer school I was just the geeky kid who made the honor roll but had a little edge to him. I also played sports better than most geeky kids.

In high school I was the artistic edgy guy in the leather jacket. I never played sports for my high school out of spite after getting cut from the freshman baseball team. I was into weird music and poetry, dressed very avant garde and acted like I could give a shit what anyone thought of me but was very insecure underneath. My vice principal told me senior year that I had gotten into more fights on campus without being expelled than anyone he could remember, because it was always someone else starting it. I never backed down. I was bored with everything. In 1983 I was totally into the Stray Cats and could have walked onstage with them and fit in. By 1984 I was just as into Adam and the Ants. I was into Shakespeare and Dylan Thomas. I loved the girls and hated the guys. One of my two best ( & only) male friends came out of the closet halfway through senior year and then I was ostracized for keeping "the faggot" as my friend. *(all-boy catholic high school in 1984. no surprise) I loved to dance and I loved to drink and smoke. I was a virgin due to misguided morality and was 5'9" and 150 lbs. I had a 2.34 GPA.

I spent three years in the real world, then went to college.

By then I was 5'11" and 185. A slut and sexual adventurer. I took a dare to try out for the baseball team and made it. Stayed on the team and kept playing for a while. Played basketball too, but not very well. President of my fraternity. Greek council, ski team, musical theatre. Got into arguments about being reactive vs. proactive with my buddy Anthony who revered W.E.B. DuBose and Malcolm X. Favorite compliment: History Professor called me a "renaissance man". Still adored the girls and could care less what the guys thought. Oh, and once I chose to go instead of being forced to go: 4.0 GPA 1st yr, graduated with a 3.48.

Who I am here? You tell me....

And you older boys...

meat me -oh! excuse me:eek: meet me in the teachers lounge.

I just want to know who else here reads Irish mythology. Do tell.

I skipped three grades by the time I got to high school, and attended military schools up until that time. At which point I was an honors student, popular, football team, prom king... that guy. More or less the brightest kid in school, but I wasn't valedictorian or anything--all test scores.

"Teen" movies are lost on me. The guy that I most identify with is the jock/cool/popular/womanizing guy... but he's always on the wrong end of the smart kids who feel dejected. I was smarter than those kids. To this day I still run into people raised to believe in the "I'm an outcast, so I'm counter-culture, and that means I'm smarter/wiser/bounds-for-a-better-life than the frat-guy".

Fan...ta...sy.

I had a harder time, socially, being in college three years younger than everyone there--but that only lasted a semester or so.
