The Allure Of Men's Accessories. Fuck yes.

Smily face? It is a nice sticker for a 5 y.o., at 35 or whatever his age is it looks ridiculous.

OK, yes. I thought there was some "meaning" like with swallows and such. You just don't like it.

I don't much care for ink, in general, so I'm not sure if I even evaluate it anymore.
I mean, it's not bad but I think that your comment applies to almost any of them. There are very few items of clothing (etc.) that I still wear 20 years later. My tastes change. The thought of locking something down forever, unless it is commemorating a very serious event (like invading Iwo Jima...) just doesn't make much sense to me, in general.

But that's me. Viva la difference...

Thanks for letting me know.

Well, in most cases this is my take on tats as well, but with this... How old was he when he got it? Not 5 and probably not 10, so at least a teen thought that it was a good idea. And now an adult STILL thinks that there is nothing wrong with it, or he would have changed it to something else. Do I want to be near anybody like that? No, thank you, I don't play with kids. Or at least not in the bedroom.

Of course it is just me, there might be women that think that it's adorable, who knows.

Pity we don't have "upvotes" here. I'd upvote what you wrote.

Maybe he already did. A design of three dots in that location is sometimes used as a gang tattoo:

The smiley face would be one way to cover that up. Whatever the reason, I'd guess it's fairly new or has been retouched recently - hand tattoos tend to fade faster than other locations, but that looks pretty sharp.

Or it's just a temporary tattoo and we're all overthinking things.

Re fading: it's a professional photo, so if it did fade, it would have been retouched either before the shoot with some pen, or after in photoshop. Nobody wants to show anything "old" in these, they are selling the idea of youth, not the "we all are going to get old and fade away".
By the same logic it could have been easily either hidden by make-up, or edited out later. For whatever reason it is still there.

But I like your idea of this already being a revision. Maybe...

Fair point. And if it's a marketing photo, quite possible they added it in specifically for the shoot to fit with whatever style they wanted to establish.

I'm a big fan of the tattoo accessory ... even the one under discussion would just make me smile and think 'there's someone who is capable of a bit of silliness'. I've certainly seen MUCH sillier tat's than that ... and others that are as sexy AF.
