Syren knew it wouldn’t take long before someone decided she was a good target, though she was a little shocked it took them this long to determine that. It wasn’t like she was like most of her race, in fact she was completely different in a lot of aspects; but being a succubus and people finding out means they will be attacking you. She knew why that was, in fact she knew many of her kind that deserved to be hunted down for their crimes, but she wasn’t one of them.
She got a message that told of the impending doom coming for her. The note didn’t exactly say who it would be or what he looked like, just that someone was being sent on that night to take her life. Syren prepared her men and even knew if this one was half as good as her men she would lose some of them in the process, but she made sure their families were well provided for. Syren took one last look at herself in the mirror, her long flowing blood red hair was tied back against her neck, her green eyes sparkled with a hidden knowledge most would miss and her hands ran down over her curvy figure encased in a tight black dress that only reached the tops of her knees. She turned from the mirror and moved over to the light, flicking it off and preparing for the intruder.
She had a plan, one of entrapment more than anything. She wanted to know who was out to kill her and why. It wasn’t like she ran off and sucked every soul out of every person she could find. By the time she was done with them they were happy to be with her….in fact they were obsessed with being with her, so it wasn’t like she was feeding off of them against their will or anything. Maybe someone was just jealous. Either way she wanted answers and this attacker was going to be the perfect person to ask.
Leaning against the window seal she waited patiently as she heard things here and there throughout her home. She knew men were being killed, but she wasn’t about to end this until it was time to end it.
The door finally creaked open and she saw a dark figure enter the room. Smiling softly to herself she waited for him to pick up on her in the room. She didn’t make a sound, but she knew if he was worth anything as an assassin, he would figure out he wasn’t alone. Syren watched as he turned and started deeper into the room, his hand moving down to a sword hilt. Even as the light started to fill the darkness she knew he still didn’t see her. He stepped into the circle she had prepared, a spell she had learned early on as a means of containing her prey. She didn’t use it often, mainly when she was learning of a new way to do things as she hated how her race just killed to kill; maybe that was because under it all she was a half breed and her human half still held guilt in certain areas of her life.
She shook herself from her thoughts as he finally stepped into the trap that awaited him. Seeing his body tense to struggle and yet not being able to just made the laugher in her bubble up and out of her parted lips. She felt like a kid in a candy store with a new toy to play with and yet she knew that was her succubus side talking. Syren heard his words and slowly stepped forward, letting the light reveal her, but only from the waist down. She started to walk around the circle, “Did you think it would be that easy to take care of me? I take great pride in keeping my life, thank you.”
Syren stopped to the side where his hand was frozen on the hilt of the sword. She tilted her head picking up that it wasn’t a normal sword and that was an obvious assumption since the light was radiating from it. She stepped closer to him, letting the light slowly travel up her body, uncovering her to his eyes, “Who sent you?” Seeing his reluctancy to answer she stepped even closer, entering the circle but not fearing the spell to take hold of her as she built it to allow her to roam freely. Her hand rose, running her fingertips over his arm, “Come now, we can do this the easy or we can do it the hard way.” She leaned into him, counting on the tales he had heard about her she whispered in his ear, “You should know how much I love the hard way.”
