Julie typed nervously on her laptop. She had a paper due on Monday for her Ancient Greek Tragedy course. Even as an undergrad she had always been a meticulously dedicated student, just because it was only Friday night didn't mean she wasn't panicking already.
To make matters worse her boyfriend of three months, Mike, had missed their date at the book store. Sure it wasn't a very exciting place for a date, but then again, Julie wasn't a very exciting kind of girl. She stood 5'2" with short, mouse-brown hair and thick glasses. Mike had often complained about her "not really having any tits."
If Mike was right about what a lousy catch she was, and he reminded her of it in subtle ways almost daily, then she was very lucky to have him at all. Despite his flakeyness and often boorish behavior, Julie couldn't afford to loose him.
Julie stretched and wandered from her computer, perched on the little island separating the kitchen and living room of her small, drab apartment. Walking over to the beat-up red couch, she sank down into it and thumbed through a book from one of the huge piles on the floor.
A knock came at the door and she though heard a woman giggle.
