She snorted at the look that fell over her mother’s face at Nathan’s promise. Savannah waved as he started the bike back up before wrapping her arms around his torso, receiving a cold look of her own. She would be getting an earful whenever she wound up back home.
The ride was uneventful, something she fully welcomed after the events of the prior day. It had been a long time since she’d been on the back of a bike, going nowhere, sun warm in the clear sky, and being able to just forget about everything. Savannah was pulled out of her daydream as he pulled the bike up to the small diner. She slowly let go as the bike came to a stop. She nearly choked on her own saliva and felt her face go red at the unexpected joke; this guy was two for two on the innuendos for the day.
Following Gears into the diner, they were greeted excitedly by an older woman who worked her way around the counter to hug him. The greeting they got from his mother was much different than how it went with her own. Savannah shook the woman’s hand, giving a warm smile. “Hi, nice to meet you.”
A menu was put into her hands, and she looked it over. Burgers, hot sandwiches, salads, fried chicken on one side, and breakfast items filling the entire other side. “I’ll have… The Pepper Jack Burger,” she said to the woman on the other side of the counter, handing the menu back to Nathan to be put back where he grabbed it from. “Can you add extra jalapenos?” The woman relayed the order to Vic, and Savannah glanced to the man next to her. “What, I like it spicy when there's meat in my mouth,” she said low so only he could hear.
