The bus ride to California from no where Tennessee was long and boring for Vonnie. But she kept her mind on the reason why she was willing to endure such a long trip. She had saved all her money since she was 14 so she could go to California to fullfill her dream of become an actress.
Not just any actress. Vonnie was dead serious about her dream. There weren't many opportunities in Tennessee for an aspiring actress. But she had studied all she could about it, took drama in high school. Her grades were decent but nothing to brag about. She opted not to attend college because how many award winning actress had college degrees?
When she arrived in LA, her first few weeks were tough as hell. She had stayed at a beat up, run down motel. That was until she started to make friends, other potentional actresses, when they all decided to ge a place together, a nicer place. Sharing the rent would be so much easier than having to live in a low rate motel where drug dealings and shootings were always happening week after week...

"Hello?"
"Hello, I need to speak to Vonnie please?"
"This is Vonnie..."
"Hey Vonnie, this is Vicky from Starlet Management. I'm sorry but we loved your audition and all but you're not exactly what we're looking for at the current moment. We wish you luck in the future!"
With a small scream of frustration, Vonnie tossed her cellphone on her bed. How the hell was this possible? This had been the 4th audition she had been to in the past 2 weeks and still noone had hired her!
Shelly, Vonnie's newest roommate, came into Vonnie's room after she heard her scream. She didn't have to ask Vonnie what had happened. Instead she just put her arm around the girl and held her, "I'm sorry hun, but something will come along." Shelly said in a low voice, trying to be comforting.
Vonnie just shook her head, "No, nothing is going to ever come along, I mean damnit Shell...why is it that Rachel and Yolanda get roles and they had only been here for a month...am I doing something wrong?"
With a sad smile, Shelly gave Vonnie a squeeze, "Well, tell you what, I'm going to an appointment tomorrow and they're looking for plenty of girls, why don't you come with me?"
"OK.." Vonnie said with a tearful nod. What could it hurt. She just didn't know how the other girls did it. They all seemed to get jobs before her. She knew she wasn't a terrible actress. So why wouldn't anyone hire her?
