The Cavern (closed)

The desert is not wielding the wild vegetation it normally gives them. Kal is right negotiate claim offering for the blood they have shed if you must or show compassion to your brethren of the desert lands and offer a trade. They give you hides and meat or something that will help all the people in exchange for a portion of your farmers crops.

She stood her ground as she spoke to him. To her he was just another male who thought with violence instead of his mind.

"Why trade them when we could kill them and keep everything?" His father asked. "And what of those they have killed? Who will pay for that?"

You do not listen well do you. Expect a sacrifice if you require. But trust me a compassionate enlightened leader is remembered far better in history than a butcher.

She never let her eyes leave his nor did any part of her reveal any fear of this man and not because Kal would protect her.

Lord Stryker stared at Giselle for a long few moments before bursting into laughter.

"I like this woman!" He exclaimed. "She has guts!". Then he turned around to face the crowd. "Very well! We will try it your way Kal. We will negotiate. But if they make a wrong move, we will end them."

Only then did she look to Kal with a smile. The looks of confusion fear and a level of contempt from the women around did not miss her notice as she spoke where only Kal could hear her.

If they only knew how I let my ex affect me still yet stood my ground with their leader.

"You are a brave woman indeed." Kal said as he continued to smile at Giselle. His eyes glanced to look at a woman who was approaching them from behind. A huge smile took over his face when he recognized the woman.

"Mother!" Kal called out. The woman ran over to Kal and Giselle and hugged them both.

"So you finally bring someone home and the first thing she does is upset your father.....I love it!" Lady Stryker commented.

She jumped a little being hugged so suddenly and unexpectedly.

I just know the history of this land from my time is all.

She was doing her best to keep the damaged blouse dress appropriate as they stood talking.

"Either way, it'll be good for my husband to have someone other than me talking back to him." Kal's mother said. Turning to face Giselle more fully, she says "this one here just accepts his orders like everyone else."

As the two women talked, Kal slipped off to go and talk to his father.

"Father!" Kal called out. His father, who had been talking to some of his vassals turned to face him.

"Yes?" He answered.

"We need to get our scouts ready to do some recon. We need to pick out a good meeting place for the negotiations, and prepare to deal with any tricks."

Kal's father nodded his head somberly. "True. Take some men and handle that. And Kal? When this meeting is set up, make sure that woman is there."

"Very Well, father."

I did notice how many looked confused, scared or unamused at my telling him anything. It's a little different here than in my time.

She smiled talking with his mother.

Perhaps I should find some clothes that might blend in more the cavern was a bit difficult on this dress.

Kal approached Giselle again with a serious expression on his face. "Giselle, I'm taking some men to check out possible sites for your negotiations." As he talks he notices the state of her clothing. "my Mother can help you with that."

Kal waved his mother back over.

She nodded to him.

Be careful.

Following his mother she and the others found her some clothes a lovely dress more fitting of their time and people. Pulling her hair back and fixing it up as well.

The scouting trip ended up taking most of the day. It was slow going. They had to make sure that none of the enemy scouts were still behind their borders and had to look out for any possible traps. By the time Kal was satisfied, the sun had already set and the night time fires had already been going for a few hours.

When his Party returned, Kal went straight to his father.

"Father, may I have a moment?" Kal asked. Lord Stryker who had been talking to one of his citizens broke off his conversation and went over to his son.

"What is it? Did you find something?" He asked.

"We found some hidey holes, but nothing major. More importantly, we've decided to use the Valley for our meeting point. We can easily set up a perimeter and keep watch on them."

Lord Stryker nods his head in agreement. "Go, get some rest and in the morning, go prepare the site. "

His mother walked over. She vanish for a while but I have sent one to the cavern to guide her back since we have need for her with meeting.

Once home she tended to the animals and dealt with a call from her ex again and his verbal assaults and empty threats. She fell asleep crying in the meditation room wishing to be back with Kal.

In the hours before the meeting, Kal made sure to head up to the cavern. He wanted to see if Giselle had returned. She was integral to the whole thing, true, but he was more worried about how she was doing and if she had had any problems back in her realm. As he neared the cavern's mouth, he looked around and decided that everything look fine as it was. Then he entered.

She was there sleeping on the stone slab. Her hair and the wet streaks on her face revealing her crying herself to sleep.

The young soldier nodded to Kal before he entered the cavern

We did not know if we should wake her or wait till she woke.

"You made the right choice." Kal said. He continued on further into the cave to find her still fast asleep. He saw signs of her crying and he knelt down near her and shook her gently.

"Giselle? Giselle, wake up. It's almost time."

She jumped a little but seeing Kal she smiled. Trying to wipe her eyes she nodded.

Yes let's go.

She hugged him gently as she smiled.

The horseback ride to the meeting site was a short one. It was only a few miles from the cavern. They had chosen a large clearing in the nearby forests to have their meetings. There was enough space for both parties to have about ten armored men in there with them. Squeezing in Kal and Giselle was going to be a close fit.

When they arrived, Kal swung off of his horse and helped Giselle down.

She smiled standing by Kal. Looking around they must have been close to the mountains. She looked to Those gathered and taking a deep breath she nodded that she was ready whenever they were.

When will this meeting begin? I worry about causing a problem among your people. Many of the women seem unsure about me or how I spoke with your father.

"Soon." Kal said. He points toward his father. "My father will greet him on behalf of our people. After, we will then commence the negotiations." Kal explained. He placed his hands on the small of Giselle's back and began to approach the leaders of each party.
