Despite their promise to meet the next afternoon, time got the better of them and by the time Tarilon returned with Darian it was too late and too dark to sneak away. The days after it poured heavily. Shianni and Tarilon snuggled together under the tent while the friends waited out the rain together, but Shianni wanted more than just snuggling. She wanted Tarilon’s tongue between her fiery lips again, wanted to lick and suck and taste his hardness for her…
“Shianni?”
“Huh?” she jerked her head in the direction of Talia, who’d prompted her to respond to something Darian had said. She hadn’t been paying attention very closely, not with Tarilon subtly rubbing her thigh as he held her hand.
“Do you want to stop in the city? You could use some alchemy supplies, right?”
“Uh, yeah, sure,” Shianni agreed. She wasn’t sure which city they’d even said, but a city meant a real bed, and a real bed meant… “Let’s hurry so we can get there before it gets too late,” she insisted.

A few hours later and the group was entering the city gates in the late afternoon. The sky was a haze of pinks and purples as the sun had just begun to set. It would be a lazy descent and paint the sky in color on the way down.
The party broke up, the guys going to get more weapons and the girls finding an inn for them to stay at for the night. Shianni led her friends to the most lively looking one.
“Shianni, how are we supposed to get any sleep here?” Bree asked. Talia, normally one for fun, had to agree. She was exhausted and her back ached from sleeping on the ground.
“Aw come on ladies, don’t tell me you don’t want to unwind a bit?”
“How about we drink here but stay there?” Aubree insisted. She pointed at a modest, quiet building towards the end of the block.
“All right, all right.”
The girls rented 3 rooms, they weren’t cheap! They’d figure out the exact sleeping arrangements later. So far, Shianni and Aubree had been sleeping in the same tent while Darian, Talia, and Tari each had their own. Tonight, two others would have to share.
After that was done they stored their belongings in their rooms, except for their special artifacts. Aubree always kept the bag of holding close which held their other gifts, then they headed back to the lively tavern they spotted.
Just before they entered Shianni announced, "I'll go find the guys."
“You're the one who pointed it out and now you're leaving us here?” Talia snipped.
“I’ll be right back!” Shianni singsonged, then hurried off around the corner.
Aubree and Talia entered the tavern and got a quiet table in the corner. Talia wasn’t feeling like her usual extroverted self and Aubree was grateful for it. There were a lot of rowdy people in here. A group of orcs were arm wrestling in the corner, hulking men as big as orcs were in the other corner chugging beer. Rowdy couples were gripping each other in dark corners. There were only a few women inside. Someone slammed their hand on the bar in anger, or maybe they were laughing at a joke, it was hard to tell. He spilled a tray of drinks. It really was a rough and tumble place.
As they waited to place their order, Aubree sensed Talia was feeling more down than usual.
“Are you okay?” Bree asked. She for one was happy to be in the city. It was a nice break from the forest and the constant looks of longing that surrounded her when the guys were around her two best friends. It was really getting tiring.
Talia was silent for a moment, blinking at her friend before speaking. “There’s a temple of Emmaryn in this city…” Her eyes became distant. “I just… I hope he picks me... Ugh, does that make me a terrible person? He said he needed time…”
Aubree's response was instantaneous. “Of course not You--”
“What’ll it be?” a dry, drawling voice asked. The dwarf bartender had appeared beside their table without warning, making them jump slightly.
“What, you ain't’ never seen a dwarf before?” he asked. He sounded gruff but he was having a hard time hiding his smirk. He loved messing with new faces.
“It’s not that!” Aubree insisted. “You just appeared out of nowhere.”
The bartender chuckled. "What'll it be?"
“I’ll have a sunshine spritzer,” Talia said.
The dwarf raised his eyebrows. “A what? Ain’t got any special drink here. Stick to the basics. How about some whiskey? Or an ale?”
“Mead then” Talia requested.
“Same,” Aubree said.
The dwarf gave them a smile and curt nod and went to get their drinks.

Shianni didn’t go straight to the weapons store. Instead she hurried to the alchemy shop they’d passed upon entering and purchased several key ingredients.
Maybe she was crazy, trying to take the Prince's virginity before his bride got to it. It was almost like she was trying to steal it in a way, but Shianni couldn’t bring herself to care. She couldn’t get the look of his handsome face between her thighs out of her mind. She couldn’t forget how wonderful it felt to kiss him, how wonderful it felt to bring him pleasure. Shianni knew she was losing him soon, but that was precisely why she needed to have him fully and completely now, and for that she needed protection. The last thing they needed on this journey was more baby drama. Shianni would use the ingredients to mix her birth control later. For now, she went to the weapons store, where she found Tarilon still browsing. And men said women took a long time shopping… get men in a weapons’ shop and they’d never leave!
“Hey!” Shianni said. “Find anything good?” She pinched Tarilon's ass discreetly and affectionately. “You ready for dinner? We’ve booked some rooms at the Raven Inn but are gonna eat at the Bluebird, it seems more lively.” She couldn’t help but grin at Tarilon. She wondered if he was as excited as she was for the impending evening… ”Where’s Darian?”
“Shianni?”
