Seeking a nemesis. Open to suggestions.
Whether this develops into a two hander or even a group thing, I feel that a place for discussion and plotwork will be necessary.
The Setting
Quasi sci-fi, set maybe 50 years in the future, somewhen in the first century of the second millennium of mankind's pestilential existence on planet Earth. A time that would go down in history as the clone age; when huge advancements were made in DNA and stem cell technology. Possibilities and applications of this science were years ahead of the laws regarding the ethics of human genetic engineering and the medical/legal ethical codes that would eventually govern its use.
For a short time, perhaps fifty years or so, human life became a commodity. Unborn children could be modified and enhanced. Athletes and the stupidly rich could have their DNA tweaked. Organs were grown, not donated.
Soon, people were grown; accelerated genesis in specially constructed 'hives' to produce fully formed adults within a matter of weeks.
Some basic safeguards were put into place. Physical tells were engineered to make cloned humans easily recognisable. The human brain was tinkered with and developed to become more like a hard drive in format, allowing data to be easily uploaded, modified and erased. The brain's physiology and unconscious governance of bodily functions was downgraded to little more than an operating system. Clones that were not developed specifically for fertility research were sterile. Unlicensed breeding of clones was illegal. Clones cannot contract, carry or pass on infection. The biggest safeguard was the development of genetic bonding. Each clone was made loyal and obedient to a handler by assimilating their DNA. Nobody else could control the clone... well, almost nobody. Twins or close relatives with similar genetics often proved interchangeable. The clone had judgement protocols for taking initiative when their handler was absent or incapacitated. There were no safeguards from the handler's own moral corruption however. Clones were given basic codes of right and wrong but it quickly became apparent that a handler could warp these tenets over time.
Most clones were actually not clones in the true meaning of the word. They were non-identical, unique, an artwork with a designer. Any race or ethnic mix could be accommodated. Unnatural pigmentations could even be engineered, to a point, in skintone, eye colour, hair colour and so on. Each clone had ports for data upload, though it became fashionable for genuine people to wear fake ports as fashion accessories.
The first cloned were female, to explore new techniques for fertility; 'adult' clones that could donate healthy ovaries and wombs, who could carry children as genetically perfect surrogates. The physical indicators that these were clones were therefore centred around fertility, including broad hips, full tits and high hormone levels that gave the clones voracious sexual appetites. Abuse of these sophisticated new labrats was inevitable, widely and salaciously documented but resulted in no criminal punishment for the perpetrators, except when expensive fertility procedures were derailed by these abuses. The media furore at this time compared the female clones to 'dolly' the first cloned sheep. The enhancements made to these fertility subjects ensured that the moniker 'dolly' stuck. It swiftly became a slang term for any cloned human, male or female.
Before long clones left the confines of medical research and became marketable products. At first they were physically identical and sold as workers and servants at but their engineered attractiveness meant that demand for bespoke cloned sex toys quickly ensured a supply. These clones, or dollys, could be uploaded with as much or as little sexual awareness as a buyer wished them to have. Virginal and criminally young looking clones would come gift wrapped either as innocents or as wanton sluts. Most buyers enjoyed training one into the other. Every sexual orientation and taste could be accommodated. Clones could be given masochistic or sadistic tendencies. Some preferred to condition such deviant sexual responses by force to clones unmodified in that area.
'Virginity' has a different meaning where clones are concerned. It can mean that the clone is a brand new and unused one. It can also refer to a clone that has been reconditioned. Reconditioned clones have had their memories erased and (if female) their hymen reconstructed. They are then resold at a lower price, making them available to the less affluent.
'Adult' is also a relative term in these times. No matter how physically developed they are, no clone grown in a hive in just a few weeks can be considered 'adult.' Without the upload of relevant knowledge, personality and so on, the clone is an animal, functioning on a very basic and instinctive level. Physically developed clones that remain animals are therefore referred to as 'stage 1' and those that have been uploaded with knowledge, language and personality are referred to as 'stage 2.'
The words 'person' and 'people' went out of vogue. Uncloned, organic human beings referred to themselves instead as 'citizens' since this was the one thing clones would never become.
The Plot Idea
I have so very many. So many that I'm not even going to try to list them. I don't want to influence the creative thoughts a potential cowriter might have by suggesting just one or two plot ideas.
Just considering the possibilities for this setting is boggling my mind a bit. At this stage, developing the setting is as far as I've really got. Obviously I'd play a female dolly and being a very submissive, masochistic, depraved non-consent junkie, I'd like there to be a few twists to the plot and the journey the clone makes through each owner. Though reconditioning is possible, I can see there being residual echoes of former incarnations that cannot be totally erased and shape the dolly's reactions and thought processes accordingly.
I could write opposite one writer playing a series of owners and traders. I could also maybe even write an incarnation with one writer and then advertise anew for another co-writer once my dolly has been sold/stolen/given away or whatever to somebody else.
I think this could be a really dark and compelling SRP.
